5D Tactical has the best jigs of all the jigs I've bought. And I have 6 or 7 different jigs now.

    Unlucky Hare

That is GOOD eating!!!!! Do you stew, fry, bake, grill or what? Growing up in Missouri we hunted rabbits every winter, ate a lot of them. Squirrels too. Fried or stewed most of them. Frog legs in the summer, rabbits and squirrels in the winter. That was the most we could do with .22s as kids.
  4. Good looking project Dirk!!!
  5. I always keep a zip lock bag full of dryer lint just for starting fires. Stuff is amazing!!!
  6. Merry Christmas everyone!!! Rob, I got that frame today but I need your return address to send the Cobalt frame back to you.
  7. Welcome from the People's Republic of Commiefornia!!!
  8. Yesterday I bought 1000 rounds of 22LR, 100 rounds of 45ACP and 6 lbs of Tannerite!!!
  9. Sketch, it will take awhile as Kreiger is 6 months just for the barrel. It comes unfinished so has to go somewhere after they make it to be chambered and threaded. Then it has to be ceracoted before I can build it. I have the stock though, so I have that going for me.
  10. Tom, I have an extra bolt catch roll pin if you want me to send it to you so you can build another rifle!! ????
  11. 300 grain Federal Premium Gold Medal rounds to start with, to see what happens.
  12. Sorry, on this 700 build I'm not sure yet. I was referring to the brake on my Savage .338.
  13. I will have to go look at the package I kept for the brake, dont remember the brand from memory.
  14. I guess I will call Mike at Kreiger again tomorrow then. Since this IS my first 700, that's why I have all the questions. This one will be my second rifle in .338 Lapua and have decided to stick with only the calibers I already have now to not have so many different sizes, less issues with ammo mix ups. I've come the the conclusion that .22, .223, .308, .338 and .458 are enough different rifle calibers for me.
  15. . I have the tedious mentality that made me drift towards that along with head porting and engine building. Both trades require the attention to detail that keep me from getting bored quickly. I have the patience to enjoy both types of work. For this one I'm going to order the stock and heat shield to look at them to see what's involved first.
  16. Tom, who should I look at to get the bolt for this 700?
  17. I was also surprised when the A2 stripped upper I forgot I'd ordered arrived today!! It will go on a walnut wood finished replica. I like the look of walnut and as a finish carpenter I've always wanted to do one in wood. The tiny roll pin that holds the rear sight adjuster dial on was FUN to.get in place, short little bastage!!!!
  18. The "Heavy Varmint" profile won't fit the Hunter stock. So, Mike at Kreiger said they will do the biggest Varmint profile they can from the barrel flange groove to the end of the stock and then the barrel will stay that size where the taper reaches the end of the stock, instead of tapering down more. He also told me they don't do the chamber finishing or threading so it will have to go to someone still after they make the barrel. I will also have to get it ceracoted as I dont want the stainless for the barrel finish. FDE is the color I am doing this one in.
  19. I had to go that long because I want to reach out a ways!! Plus, as I found out today, the MAGPUL Hunter 700L stock limits me on barrel profiles to fit that stock so going longer makes up for having to go smaller diameter on the profile. Wishing now I had known that before I bought the stock. Live and learn, right??!!!
  20. This guy is THE MAN!!!!!
  21. I just bit the bullet and ordered a 30" stainless barrel from Kreiger, in .338 Lapua, to build my 700 Remington. Will probably order the Timney 517 for it today also!!!
  22. Tom, what did you rent the truck for this time, and how the hell did you manage THIS???!!!!!!! LMAO!!!!
  23. Welcome from the People's Republic of Commiefornia!!
