  1. have one private range about 45 minutes away, sporting goods store owned... they have archery, pistol to 50 yards rifle to 200 yards... $15.00/day... I belong to a club up in PA that has combined rifle/pistol ranges out to 300 yards... free for members... damn it's raining again, at least it's warm... and I won $200 on the super bowl...
  2. although I bought pre-owned, this whole thing has been terribly educational... I shot a pile of ammo through an M-16 back 1968-75, but haven't fooled with any of the black guns since then till about a year and ½ ago... we couldn't use them in the field up in PA, so I couldn't justify the cost, and didn't really think much about them till I moved down here to NC... with the current state of affairs around the world I'd got to thinking a bit more fire power wouldn't hurt so here I am... ;)
  3. Rsquared... go ahead and order it, have it shipped to me, I'll run it through it's paces, make sure it works ok... I'll drop it off to you in March when I head up thru to PA... ;-)
  4. well the loaders didn't get here till today... got them in the house, and had to mess with them straight off... the AR15 worked without a hitch, both loading and stripping, it will be a great addition to the gear bag... then came the AR 10B gen II loader... I tried it on an old style/gen 1 magazine first and it unloaded and reloaded it slick as a whistle... I was pleasantly surprised it worked so well... I grabbed a brand new Gen II magazine and gave it a whirl... well lets just say it worked, but it took a lot of coaxing to get the job done... I had the magazine loaded and first tried to unload it, I had to jiggle the loader every other round to get them to drop out... not sure if there's something that's needing to work in, a piece of excess plastic or whatever... after I got them all out, it was time to reload the magazine, I made sure the loader was seated properly and went to it... it loaded all 20 rounds without a problem... all in all, I think they are both going to be vital assets to easing the loading/unloading of the appropriate magazines...
  5. I've got a Armalite AR10 16" barrel if you can use it...
  6. MackC... sorry to hear about your BIL... my condolences... Magwa... that sucks about your shop... hope when you get in there and can survey the situation, it was all the cheap stuff that was tore up... replace it with top of the line stuff... always buy up... I went out the other day to run a few errands, fired up the Explorer and the low tire pressure light came on... ehhh, not a big deal it's been a couple months since I've checked them, only been puttering around local so it's about time... was ready to pull out and thought maybe I should take a look... damn right rear was pancake flat... looked and right out in open sight was what looked like a 22rf case stuck straight into the tread... oh well looks like a new tire is in order, I aired it up and went to the local shop to have it checked out... guy pulled a slightly deformed 223 fmj bullet out of the tire... at least it could be plugged, just wonder how it got there... I do live adjacent to Camp Lejeune so it may have been carried out by someone and dropped on the road, could have been shot off a range, way to many possibilities to make any sound decisions about it's origin... oh well lets hope that isn't going to set the stage for the new year...
  7. didn't know but mine are supposed to be here this weekend... got for the ar10 and the ar15...
  8. I only got an Armalite AR10T... it was previously owned but what the heck... beats a swift kick in the knutes... ☻
  9. have you chrono'ed that load yet?... I load real close to that for my T/C Encore 45-70, most excellent load, will let the air out of an animal quickly... those bullets are to hard to expand but the way their built they just cut a big hole with that semi wad cutter design...
  10. chain around the neck, other end around a tree... gut shoot his sorry ass and leave him for the hogs and coyotes...
  11. just ordered one, will this work on the previous/gen 1? magazines?... if not no big deal...
  12. try another ammo in the 168gr range... Armalite does say with their 1-10" barrels to keep your ammo between 150 and 175gr bullets...
  13. oh my talking about motorcycles... I've got 3 on the road and another sitting waiting to get chopped... have a 2002 softtail, cammed up and set up as a rigid, hard riding but fun to jam around the bars... a 2006 Dyna Street Bob, a few minor mods just enough to be able to sound off a bit... this is my everyday round town haul groceries, to the Dr, haul whatever I can tie on it or jam in the bags... got a 2010 Ultra Classic, couple mods on outward appearance, but the engine is right at 100hp, Barnett heavy duty pressure plate to lock it all up and a Basanni 2 into one exhaust just to make it sound good... this one will make you smile... also this is my long ranger road trip bike... got an 87 sporty to be chopped when I get around to it...
  14. this is the first time I've been able to get on here in 2 days... <dontknow>
  15. lol I hear ya there... I don't normally travel the 95 corridor anymore... I take the little longer, much less nerve racking US highways to the west of there to get to the York, PA area...
  16. 98z... I'll be on the MC so the only thing I may be packing is a pistol... the fellow I'll be visiting with is a retired military man who's had a rather interesting career, so maybe we can all get together... when I rolled out of the frozen northlands I considered AZ briefly, but it's way to far from the ocean... I spent a lot of time in AZ when I was still out on the trucks, so I am familiar with the hospitality... Rsquared... was hoping I'd found a source for parts and accessories... where are you located?... I lived in Forest Hill for a couple years after my house burned in PA... enabler, sounds like sheer jealousy over your innate knowledge of all things good... 8) hey and if they can't take a joke, my response would be... :fawkdance:
  17. did a google search for something about the AR10 I'd just bought, and this site came up as a side bar... one look and I was convinced I needed to be here...
  18. wow... that was some sort of welcome... I am somewhat of a bull$hitter, and I see I have a bunch of company here... <thumbsup> at any rate there are some of these points I'd like to address... seems to be a few from Arizona?... anyone near Herford?... I've got a bud lives there that I'll be visiting in the spring... RSquared... are you affiliated with Armalite?... that's just what I need is to pass an enabler while I'm traveling to PA... Matt.Cross... long range shooting?... I wish... had a spot to shoot right at 215 yards, but it's been shut down to us... have one range that has 200 yards, that's it... I've got a bud that has farm land up north a bit, 3 hours, that I can go and shoot distance... have to bring all my stuff with but it beats a kick in the knutes... shibiwan... although I do have a lonely lower in the safe, since the acquisition of the AR10 a blackout would be a step back... thinking maybe a 22lr upper just as an expensive toy... huh isn't that a redundant statement... got a safe full of'em... unforgiven... I don't consider myself a collector of firearms, a few mod 37 Winchesters is about it... as for heavy calibers, I have a T/C Encore set up with a 280AI, 375 H&H and a 45/70 barrel... if I could only have one rifle, oh my so many things to consider... if I'd be stuck in the western hemisphere, it'd probably be the AR10, although a bit light for the largest bears, it would work well for everything else... if I was a world traveler, it would have to be a CZ safari grade in 375 H&H... oh well we can all have our dreams and fantasies... B)
  19. Sneads Ferry to be exact, the intersection of New River and the Intercoastal Water Way... retired Teamster, ride motorcycles, fish and chase rich widow women... doing a little trapping this year, first time in 50 years... gonna try to snag a bobcat... been fooling with the black guns for a couple years now and was thinking about a heavier gun... AR 15's mostly and was thinking about a 300 blackout, but decided if I was gonna get a 30cal I may as well go all the way,,, picked up an Armalite AR10 and a bunch of magazines all loaded with some sort of OTM bullets/ammo... got a 16" barrel and a collapsible stock also and an extra recoil spring... this thing has a 24" barrel on it so I think I'm gonna keep the A2 stock on it now, but thinking on having the barrel shortened to 22" and lighten up the hand guard... so far it looks to be a good site, think I may hang out a while... Dale...
