the navy was offshore this afternoon firing the big guns... when they go off there's nothing to break up the sound, the booms just roll for miles...

they don't want'em here in NC... way to heavy a military presence, with all 5 branches of the services heavily represented... when I get company and they hear all the machine guns, artillery, small arms, the navy ships offshore firing, plus the jets and helicopters, they ask how can I handle the noise, I just smile and tell'em that's the sound of freedom... isn't that ironic, just heard the tanks over in Sandy Run firing... ☺

well now isn't that something, when I searched 700 tactical before I posted, that other thread didn't turn up... well got a Timney 517 trigger ordered, a PTG trigger guard, a 5rd and a 10 rd magazine ordered... that should get me started on getting this thing more to my liking...

well crap, found out my rifle is one on the recall list... good news, I just ordered a Timney 517 from ArmsUnlimited for $115.00 and free shipping... I also expect I'll have some bottom metal and additional magazines ordered so when I tear it apart for the trigger installation I can do it all at one time... keep down the wear and tear on tools and fastening devices...

I've recently became the owner of a new rifle in 308, already set up with a Nikon 4.5X14 BDC scope on what appears to be a Blackhawk 20° base... I have no paperwork or boxes for any of it so I'm at a loss as to anything further then what I can find online... can anyone give me a clue if this is in fact a 20° mount hopefully not a 30°... it's .80 thousandth from the receiver to the base of the ring in the rear, the front measures .55 thousandth... .25 thousands difference... I'm loving the trigger too, a Mark X adjustable, haven't measured the pull yet, they say it comes adjusted from the factory at 3#'s... for a hunter that's not bad... next question... is there a way to make this a full magazine type rifle?... the floor plate is OK but I'd sure like it to be able to use Armalite B magazines... I've got a pile of them for the AR10, it would be nice to be able to slap a magazine in and go, instead of worming rounds into the short action then lining them up to press down into the on board mag... this thing would be bad @‌$$ to have a 10 or 20 rounder hanging off it...

there is nothing wrong with learning to ride in the dirt... it should almost be a requirement... you'll learn control techniques, cornering, controlling skids, a lot of things that will benefit you on the road... even with my Ultra Classic, I still have used some of my experience dirt riding when a jack@$$ run me off the road when I was passing on a 2 lane road and he wasn't paying attention to what was happening... 70mph in the grass can be a harrowing situation, but I pulled it off and kept right on down the highway... the dirt was always fun, wish I still had a dirt digger, but will take my street bob off onto the dirt paths every now and again... better then nothing...

finally broke down and ordered a new spotting scope... Leupold SX-1 Ventana 15-45x60mm Straight Kit, Black Spotting Scope with Case and Tripod hope it is a good one...
