if it's an older model you may have to have the bolt catch replaced for the GenII mags to hold the bolt open... the new upgraded bolt catch is not expensive and easily installed... I was lucky and didn't need to change mine but I have the new part if and when I do... make sure you call them before you order, when I wanted to pick up a couple last year they just happened to be having a sale think I got 4 20rd for $110... it was quite a savings from the standard pricing...

Aluminum Magpul Enhanced Trigger Guards $4.95!
Dale replied to 392heminut's topic in Sales and Coupons
thanks got 5 of them and should have ordered more... -
I'd a swore the other day someone had posted on here about Western Sports had Magpul aluminum trigger guards for sale at $4.95/pc... after looking through most of the posts and searching magpul trigger guards and western sports, I've found nothing... fortunately I ordered 5 of them at the time I saw the posting, not realizing I need 3 for myself and one for my bud... one went to the Bushmaster, one to a spare Anderson lower, and one to the AR10T... the 2 AR15's dropped in without any trouble at all, the AR10 needed a bit of judicious file work on the one side of the forward tab to clear the mounting tab on the receiver... 15 minutes with a fine file and several test fittings a little cover up with a black magic marker and it looked like it had been installed by someone who knew what they were doing... just wished I'd a ordered 10 of them instead of only 5, oh well they still have them I may slip in another order... here is the part/item number if anyone else wants in on the deal... NC has several lifetime licenses, hunting, fresh water fishing, saltwater fishing, and combo's there of... we also have a very reasonable seniors lifetime licenses, plus disabled lifetime licenses... my disabled lifetime license covers all hunting, fishing, fresh and saltwater, trout stamps, access permits to parks, special areas etc... I paid $110 for mine, 100% social security disabled... the only think I need to buy is federal migratory bird, if I want to hunt ducks or geese and a state trapping license, $35.00/year...

you've got to be using the smallies for trapping bait... be careful they don't cross contaminate all that other good eating...

not necessarily from someone's faulty work as I've had this happen on a new out of the box S&W MP15, and it also occurred with a BushMaster Varminter I picked up a while back... it was explained to me by 2 different gunsmiths that it was all in my trigger stroke causing it to double up... it may have happened to me yet after I switched out the S&W to a Timney trigger, can't remember... with mine it happened so fast unless you were listening closely, you weren't sure if it was one or 2 shots went off, and the shots printed closely on the target... so all in all I guess there was no serious drawbacks...

well that brings it all into perspective... ;-) being new to the AR scene, last I handled one was 40 years ago in the military, and only getting back into them in the last 3 years... my time here is very informative, in all aspects of the black gun world, AR 10 and 15's... I really appreciate the more knowledgeable and experienced folks here taking the time to try to bring this matter to the fore front and hopefully bring some clarification to the confusing world of the Armalite AR10/LR308 DPMS style guns for us new guys...

is any of this still available?... I have a bud that may be interested in some...

I hear ya there, a mile up the road and it would have been in my hands... I have no doubts about the quality of their work for the most part, but the use of 40 year old repurposed military brass and trying to pass it off as new ammo don't cut it... use new surplus if you're gonna do that not some crusty tarnished up old stuff... I bought up a batch of their blems a while back and that all came in on new commercial brass, was sort of hoping this would have been the same...

welcome top the loony bin from east Carolina... I too have been bitten by the AR10 bug... ☻

well here it is 8 days and still no ammo... it has been shipped on the 14th and held up in Minneapolis for 34 hours.. I called UPS to inquire why the hold up and was told the shipment was on schedule, and that this was normal procedure... MY ASS... I worked in the transportation industry for 30 years and none of the companies I worked for would intentionally delay a shipment to keep it "on schedule"... I was told the time schedule was negotiated with the shipper, bullpoopy... if I'm paying the freight, the company has no rights negotiating a schedule for delivery that is longer then is normal... as from this point forward UPS and Freedom are both fired... I will no longer deal with anyone using UPS for any deliveries of my purchases... Fed EX or USPS are the only carriers I will deal with... if you can't accommodate me on these conditions, I'll take my business elsewhere... rant off...

the Lewiston address is who I've been dealing with... got a call from them this afternoon, told me they had no more new ammo on hand... told them to send reman ammo and credit back the difference... hopefully we'll get this resolved quickly...

I ordered 480 rds of NEW 308 168gr otm ammo and 500rds 38sp 125gr hp's... when it arrived the 38's were all on nickel cases, not a big deal as I have more brass 38 cases then I'll ever use... the problem was with the 308's... I ordered new ammo and it came in loaded on repurposed FC 75 vintage cases, 45 year old repurposed military cases is not new ammo... still had the lacquered primers and all, have no idea what powder was used... I ordered new to build up a stock of cases as I have no 308 cases at all... have never owned one before this, and I'm planning on reloading for this caliber... I called and let them know I was unhappy with their thoughts of what was new ammo... I took pictures and emailed them to customer service and was assured they would make things right... they sent me a return label for UPS and the ammo was shipped back... it's been 10 days since I was told they'd send out replacement ammo and to this day nothing has been shipped yet... has anyone else had any type of off the wall dealings with Freedom?... on previous orders I've had no problems with them... they were one of the people I've been using to build stocks of ammo for the 308 and 556... hope to be able to continue using them in the future...

AR10 Timney 4# trigger...
-
I've got a Bushmaster Varminter, a S&W MP15, and an Armalite AR10T... all 3 had the stock 2 stage triggers in them when I got them, no longer, both of the 15's have Timney's in them and there's a Timney on the way here for the Armalite... for an alleged target rifle the AR10 trigger just flat out sucked... way to much travel and rough as a cob... I was able to shoot some decent groups with it, but it took all my concentration and will power to do it... I had a fellow from a lgs watching me shoot a group and even he remarked about how much travel that trigger had... if this 4# AR10 trigger operates as well as the other 2 for the AR15's I'll be extremely happy...

can't say I remember any of his posts, but I'm not around as often as I'd like to be... at any rate what everyone has talked about him, he had to be a good guy, way to young to cross over... my condolences to all who knew him and prayers for the family in this time of grief...

got my 200rds in this morning... all "Pierce 308" marked cases... who's Pierce?... never heard of them before...I did get another batch from them that was all SSA brass, loaded with 150gr Noslers... have yet to shoot any of it...

my order is scheduled for delivery Thursday, will post again after I get to check them out...
-
mine got here yesterday... thanks again...

I've got a bunch of the ASC 10rd 556 magazines, and have found them to be quite satisfactory...
-
I've been around for more then a little while and always thought 308/7.62X51 was one and the same round... recently, in the last year or so I've been seeing them being referred to as 2 different rounds... I asked my lgs about this and he looked at me like I had 3 eyes... I remember when I went into the Corps that we were told the linked M-60 ammo was loaded a bit hotter but could be shot in the M-14's if necessary... hell if I had 60 ammo and a gun, I sure wasn't gonna unlink it and shoot it outta a 14... I know 223 and 5.56 are basically the same case but the 5.56 is loaded to higher pressures, is this the same as the 30 cal rounds and I've been living in a cave?... or have people been talking out their butts?...
