  1. That's deep Sisco. That's a whole 'nuther' level sir. Appropriate, but heavy. Let's see Starship graphic/ no. Long trip's without BR breaks? Not since they zapped my prostate, 1-1/2 hours at most. Saved by a team from 308ar, both of us saved by the team, very interesting, absolutely inviting. I like the idea of the little girl going out alone with the pup. She the unlikely hero, protagonist. That damn chicken must come along. Rsquared and I the observers, detailers, or creators? I had a rough week with Drs., but love this crazy writing stuff. I'll get back here soon.
  2. I don't get it?? Glad it's entertaining for you. Have to look up d-gangers. I'll be back.
  3. I have been looking more and more toward the 6.5 CM. Edgecrusher, you got me thinking and reading. It really starts to distance itself from the 308 at 4-5 hundred yds in terms of performance. I already own 1 308 and perhaps the 6.5 CM is the way to go. Thanks.
  4. Where would I find that steel/brass line. I'll do a search on site.
  5. Screwed up the grain #'s. Got a little carried away with myself. I did order some 190's recently but they were subsonic for a different application. So far I bought a Laue MBT-2S on sale for 80. Looking at and for barrels.
  6. Cool, wasn't sure if appropriate or enjoyed. Rsquared and I are not the same person. I heard Maryland has an impossibly reckless leadership and following. The State first, people second. In any event that canned chicken prompt was overwhelming, an absolutely hilarious prompt for everyone except the poor chicken. I'm definitely getting cremated when my time comes. F - that.
  7. Yes I did Sir, then got thinking about the walking, plus my club only goes to 600. Just have an urge to qualify at a thousand, my own qualifications, i.e. I can do it. I'm not an expert or even a seriously knowledgeable person on gunmanship. When I had my full capabilities I could shoot really well with irons but... anyway edge, I look forward to more suggestions from you. I hold most folks here in high regard. Just consider this thread to be an evolving type thread on a build. Perhaps 195's are too long for a magazine feed, but good for single hand fed rounds for effect. I'm counting on the knowledge of 308AR.com. I won't be hunting, just paper. Let me say this I have beaucoup brass for 6.8 spc and some other components, I was going to build one for hog hunting and removal. I understand Tubbs et. al. and their dominance using a better round. I'm familiar with Glen Zediker and his monumental mass of info. I'm going with the 308 merely as fulfillment of a compulsion. An as an aside you guys are sorely tempting me toward changing my mind. LOL I hold the 30 06 in high regard because of WWII, The 308 is as modern as I care to go. Thank you all.
  8. Hi, edge, not going to be a serious 1000 yd'er, way too much walking involved. At 66 and living in sunny Florida the heat will kill me. I do like the 6.5, terrific round but I'll stick with the 308. Thank you very much for your suggestion.
  9. I want 20+ inch barrel, I'd like to get 195's + moving properly for distance.
  10. Thank you. Heavy build, 2k for rifle, glass 2k. LaRue ordered for 80. July 4th celebration BBQ, then sales at Aero will be viewed. 1. LaRue MBT-2S. It just so happens 7/4 ends my one month budget probation period. Thank you Shooter, JT, BF, and sketch.
  11. Let's have some fun. I'm asking for your help. Let's build this one together, I'll consider all suggestions and select what seems to be the best way to go. My condition is this, this will be my first complete build. I am handy with tools and able to read well. I will expect to build this rifle with single parts and expect it to take longer than usual due to ordering and hiding stuff from the Mrs. Cash only, she's a bookkeeper and numbers never lie. I did say I was on a moratorium until July 4th and have mostly stuck to the program. Well there was 80 to someone on here for some stuff, 150 to another fellow and hopefully that's the end. Enough BS. Shooting 100-600 yds at my club, with an intense desire to do 1000 yds once. Where do I start? What else do you need to know? Not looking for the least expensive. I will buy some terrific glass with your suggestions. I'm not afraid of spending money, I just don't want to throw it away. What do you consider the heart and soul of the rifle? Receiver, bolt, barrel? Here's what I'm starting with. As always here, Thank you in advance for your consideration.
  12. Reference material is certainly worthy of a bump. All the info you need and then some. "The more you know..." the more money I spend, sheesh.

    Nice morning

That's funny, the mates that work this side (East Coast) talk down Amberjack. How do you make it? I'm keeping the next one I catch and using you recipe if you provide one. The guys talk highly of King Mackerel smoked and made into a dip. I may get a smoker. My favorite are the yellow tail snapper, and mahi mahi. I won the pool recently with a fish named Summer Tally. Somewhat uncommon, even the Capt. came running to the bow to see it, saying you won't forget how good this fish is, he was correct. Cobia keeper still on my bucket list as well as black fin tuna. Need to eat one of those as I hear they are terrific tasting.
  14. Thank mrraley. Folks we, rather I finally was able to get the hand guard and buttstock. Made an offer, was countered, then accepted. Man o man thank goodness I check what I write, that auto spell can get you into a hell of conversation.
  15. I wanted to thank all the youngsters serving now and in the recent past for showing America still has stand up people who are backed by the full might of the U.S.A.
  16. I'm sure some folks will show up next year, and the year after, and the year after... I never let a piece of paper stop me from doing the right thing. I am forever grateful for the huge showing of Patriotism that is back in favor. I know some of my buddies have left this planet before America began to thank Veterans once again. They all felt forgotten and abused, I pray that somehow they are now aware of the change of spirit that lives here. " Tommy, Eddie, Lloyd, they are all cheering you now, I'm sorry you weren't here for the change, but it happened, Thank you Lord."
  17. I was always leery of the steel ammo. Not a factually based opinion but based on internet knowledge. I'm going to order some steel and shoot it for myself. I'll get some more brass as well. I tend to be much too kind to my weapons, overly so. I finally took my 45 to the range and ran a couple hundred rounds through it and now the slide loosened up a bit. I can actually use the slide release as intended, one thumb release. Same same for the rifle I guess, it'll settle in and not act prissy.
  18. Very cool Belt Fed, I was just about to reply ti your initial post when this brass ref. hit, Thanks

    Nice morning

Nothing like fresh fish. Went with the Mrs and her mom for lunch the other day. Bought a fried fish dish and was deeply disappointed. I usually eat my own catch, so this frozen fried stuff while appealing had no real flavor other than the breading. Good job Sisco.
  20. You came to the right place. Welcome from Fla.
  21. Nice is right. Was that just a local deal?
  22. Eyes front. So I see market conditions favor the buyer at this moment. I've seen 556/223 at 29 per. I may have seen them as low as 27 but that may have been during some sleep. If I actually find them at 27 I'm getting some, anyone seen it at that price. That would be the lowest I ever saw them at.
  23. I'd like to second that.
  24. I wondered what CW2 was or is?
