I guess the Glock dis was before my time. I have an old 17 that goes bang every time I pull the trigger and hits whatever I point it at. Isn't that what they are supposed to do?
I have a Faxon 18" light (not pencil) barrel. It has a mid-length gas system and I run a JP adjustable gas block. It is a tack driver and I hauled it over hill and dale last hunting season. Since I don't have a suppressor I can't speak to the changes it may make; however, with both 168 and 175 grain bullets it is limited only by the part holding the rifle.

Actually that was after my freshman year at Penn State. You are correct; however, it served me very well through the remainder of my undergraduate years.
My first car, bought after my freshman year in 1966 for $75. Not a picture of mine but it is exactly the same. Served me well for the last three years as an undergraduate.
