  1. Kinetic energy is one-half mass times velocity squared. Changes in velocity have a greater effect on energy than mass. It is a balance but doubling mass only doubles the energy (with a constant velocity) but you only need to increase velocity about 40% to get the same result (with constant mass).
  2. If only there were politicians with this guy's guts!
  3. Apparently born in Kuwait, went to high school in Tennessee. One Marine wounded at first site (leg wound already released) and four killed plus Muslim terrorist at second site, I believe it was a reserve center.
  4. First it was "warm" Al Gore, followed by swiftboat anti-war John Kerry, then community organizer Marxist Barack Obama to be followed by fired lawyer, wife who outsourced blow jobs, money grubbing, White House furniture stealing, and killer Secretary of State Hillary. Why are there Democrats?
  5. I'm just interested in what she has on her reloading bench! <dontknow>
  6. <thumbsup>
  7. I agree. Now if they only used English! (Texans only need 8)
  8. Mr.President, I think we have a deal with Iran.
  9. I got a very cheap, but solid bench from Harbor Freight. It is only 60" wide, and faux wood, but very solid. It has 4 drawers which are very convenient. Took only about an hour to put together. I got it on sale for about $140.
  10. Will the new version have a Cali restricted setting - only 10 words per post if you are in Cali? <dontknow>
  11. Welcome from El Paso.
  12. Welcome from the border.
  13. Have fun, be safe, and give a shout out to all those who protect and preserve our Nation, irrespective of how tenuous it seems today/
  14. Condolences to his family and prayers that his new home range is now unlimited and always hot.
  15. Interesting. Slash's buffer and spring were part of my initial build. I now have something over 100 rounds through it with no malfunctions of any kind. With the Miculek brake it has no more recoil than my AR-15, which has almost no recoil.
  16. The real issue is whether or not the 10th Amendment has any meaning or whether SCOTUS has virtually eliminated it. The issue of the effects of gay marriage and parenting can be debated forever, and tend to be emotional rather than rational arguments. While I don't have any particular concern what others may do in their bedrooms, having been married to a clinical psychologist for 38 years, who has specialized in children and adolescents, there is research indicating that same sex "parents" do create issues for children, but then so does having both parents work. The idea of a federal government assuming powers not specifically granted by the Constitution is very frightening and what we should be most concerned with. :ugone2far:
  17. Welcome from El Paso, really west Texas.
  18. Personally, I have always felt that my firearms should be fully automatic!
  19. Agreed. My concern is not only training but the safety of LEOs. They should be able to assume that everyone is armed and knows what to do when approached or stopped for a traffic violation. For example, anyone in Texas can carry a weapon in a car; however, only those with a CHL receive any training on how to react to a traffic stop. I would prefer that law enforcement not have to approach an unknown situation and frankly have no issue with conforming to an accepted procedure in such a situation. Then again, I have never been arrested or stopped for a moving violation so I don't have any experience. <dontknow>
  20. Not so much when you are management for a stateside consultant and have two kids in college at the same time. The real money was if you were an independent contractor working for a British or Italian consultant or contractor!
  21. The Miculek is relatively inexpensive, between $60 and $70.
  22. Perhaps then at 21 everyone goes through mandatory gun safety/carry training and, assuming you don't have a DSM-V diagnosis, you must open carry when outside of your residence. I believe this will cut down on a lot of petty crime as well as making crime when others are likely present far more unlikely.
  23. "Made a major change to the sights - specifically, the flip-up rear was only a temporary sight, just to get to the range with this carbine. Since this is a short range weapon (being realistic - it's a .45 ACP), I never had any plan of running a red dot or other optic on it. Irons only for this one." ?????? <laughs> <lmao>
  24. I'm usually the one accused of being a bad influence. I am really pleased in that that the position I have now allows me the time to get into doing things I have always wanted to do but really haven't had the time, primarily because of travel. The career has been professionally rewarding, and I have had the opportunity to work all over the country as well as places like Hong Kong, Taiwan, Qatar, Jordon, Italy, England, Spain and Mexico, but I spent a lot of time on airplanes and in hotels making feeding my interests a little difficult. I recognize the value of the suggestions here and they made the .308 build considerably easier and I sincerely appreciate all of the help. I have been in the ditch enough to be able to make some suggestions, at least in terms of what not to do, to those just starting out. While this is something I wish I had started 30-years ago, I intend to live long enough to enjoy it. Thanks again!
