I built a 6.5 Grendel that seems to be fine for deer but wanted to see how the 6.8 SPC compares. Most shots here in west Texas are 200-yards or less; however there are instances where a 300 yard shot presents itself. While the Grendel and the 308 are well within a few inches at 300 yards on the range I would like to consistently get within 2 inches before trying a shot at that range in the field. So, it will be a competition to see which groups best at 300.

My 6.8 SPC barrel and bolt arrived today. About 75% finished milling the lower so I should be able to get the lower together and be ready to assemble the upper when the handguard arrives next week. This should end up being fairly light, even with the 20" medium profile barrel.

I finished another 100 .308 reloads, Lake City brass deprimed and sized, trimmed, swaged, then wet tumbled, hand primed, and then loaded with 175 grain Nosler BTHP projectiles. My Faxon barrell really likes the 165-175 grain projectiles a lot better than the 147 grain standards.

Couldn't resist the $169.99 8 lb jug of Varget from Lohman Arms.

Both my Faxon barrels, a .223 pencil and a .308 mid are absolute tack drivers, both on paper and hitting 4 legged (so far) critters. Damn, I just looked in the rack and I have two complete lowers, a 15 and a 308. I planned to put a 6.8 SPC on the 15 but what will I do with the .308?

Wind is too high to get to the range but the .338 went together nicely. Hope the wind drops before the weekend is over so I can do some testing. Picture quality sucks but she does look nice and feels good.

The barrel is different. Everything else is the same.

Exactly. We had one for almost 15-years, lost him about 3 months ago. He laid like that continuously. The rescue we got just before we lost the Shih Tzu, a Cavachon (St. Charles Spaniel crossed with a Bichon Frise) will lie like that once and a while but not regularly.

Both RCBS and Hornady make a kit to deal with this issue (ask me how I know). They are less than $20 and are available from any number of sources. Basically you get a drill bit to drill out the primer pocket, a tap to thread what is left, a bolt and spacer that when you screw into the case it is retracted from the die without damaging the die. I had that happen on one of the 308 cases I was resizing to 338 (not enough lube) and the kit I bought worked like a charm.

I have two of these that both work very well. The first one I received would not go into battery as the ramp on the lower front was a bit too flat (slope). AIM exchanged it without question and the replacement and the subsequent one I bought work very well. The nitride finish stays very clean and just needs to be wiped off now and again.

Why continue to look at organizations for the issue? The problem is with the cult that masquerades as a religion. The bottom line is that all fundamental Islamists want to kill westerners who don't subscribe to Islam and Shariah and all moderate Muslims want the fundamental Islamists to kill the infidels. The "acceptance" being preached by the one world secular progressives (globalists) is only to create an excuse for martial law and confiscation of individual weapons since the only way to achieve their goal is to eliminate arms in the hands of Americans. By increasing the number of Muslims likely to be fundamental in the west they increase the likelihood of creating a situation where folks will be willing to give up their freedoms for governmental protection. Remember what Ben Franklin said: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

Well, perhaps they did. It appears that the gas port on the rifle length .338 barrel is 0.09375 (3/32). Might be just a touch small but I want to get it to the range and see whether it functions properly. Since it is a frankengun (Aero Precision M5 upper, Blitzkreig Tactical 80% lower, Fulton Armory LPK, La Rue MBT, Tubbs flat wire sping, etc.) if it doesn't I will have a lot to triage.

I would use the same description but the part of the system that squeezes the trigger makes that a fiction.

Just got a message from Federal Express that my .338 Federal barrel from X-Caliber has been delivered! I didn't get a message that it had been shipped. Can't wait to get home.

I hope they have learned something since I am waiting for my 18" .338 Federal barrel from them. I guess that will need to be the first thing I check!
