  1. Everything they can't have, good eating and good looking women.
  2. .....forgot to add, that is good enough for me, also.
  3. And with the irons on my 308, I can keep the hits well within the center of my palm area if I do my part. That is why I am not worried about putting optics on it. Mostly for the very same reason you stated, Shepp.
  4. Makes sense. Once again I am over thinking, under educated on, the AR function systems.
  5. I have shot 223/5.56 ammo through Mini14s for years, and never noticed any difference, but with the Wylde discussion I have found on sites...maybe thought something changed. Anyways this isn't going to be designed to punch single hole groups, but for reliability. I guess that I am, once again, over thinking my choices? Especially since there are going to be iron sights used on it, no optics for the most part.
  6. JT, that is the same I found in my research also, but needed to hear from some real persons.
  7. Now to meld my threads on gas length systems and 5.56/223 Wylde chambers, given the choice between a carbine length gas/223 Wylde barrel and a mid length/5.56 gas system barrel....which would be the better choice, assuming all other barrel factors are same?
  8. Those putzes are either F`n geniuses, or the luckiest bastidges I have heard of in all my gun buying time on this planet.
  9. To keep within my penchant for asking a bunch of questions. ...... Do I need to worry about the difference between the two chamberings of 5.56 and 223 Wylde on a 16" dissipator style build that will be used for an "everything, all day long" gun? Once more, just the experience of the members here, as I haave read info out on various sites. From those sites, one would get the impression that the Wylde chambering has made other 223 chamberings obsolete. This is why I want to get real world feedback.
  10. Does having a rifle/fixed buttstock buffer tube on the gun make difference? I forgot to mention that. Just trying to make the best questions, information available, to work for me on this.
  11. Fairly easy, what is the actual real world difference between the different lengths of gas systems on an everyday usage AR15, when having a 16" barrel. I want to know the members' experiences with theirs, considering functionality, longevity, and things like that. What I don't want is just repeated interweb rehashes, no member pissoffs intended. Thanks, guys. This information is going to be used in a custom build I am having put together for myself.
  12. I already have the @sshole patch, wear it, and that probably will be brought up at my funeral. Given by my wife as a fathers day present, wear it proudly, and earn more often than having it on.
  13. I bet that "lube" was wd40, or a very close relative of it. An old gunsmith (since passed) loved that crap, he made so much money from cleaning that wd40 residue out of hunters` stored firearms after they would use it....he never recommended using, just made a ton of work from making the weapons work again after storage for the off season. Those hunting idiots never could figure much of anything out....
  14. Not fired any yet, been too busy with house selling/buying to do much else. But that situation has remedied itself, so I will be able to do a bit of shooting shortly again.
  15. http://www.americanweaponscomponents.com/products/clearing-the-caliber-confusion-223-wylde-vs-5-56-nato/ This helped me clear up the confusion for a friend when he didn't understand the difference. My wife's AR15 is a 223 Wylde chambering, and I haven't found anything yet to not like.
  16. Just because he carried a badge doesn't make him smart about weapons. Some are so ignorant about their own tools they shouldn't be allowed to carry any. And if my suspicions are correct, he is purposely misstating truth to further political ideology.
  17. Thanks for the info guys. I will look into finding a smith around here to get some pricing on a finish ream. And mine is a 16" barrel with the rifle length gas system also.
  18. Exactly. One pays for learning things, one way or another.
  19. Can I ask the members here to provide the measurements to determine which gas length system is on a 308AR barrel. Looking at possibly replacing my barrel to ensure a bit looser headspace than "match"....I prefer function over having that kind of accuracy differential between a match chamber and a standard/7.62 type chamber. And as an aside.... I have been told that the bolt is what makes the headspace on the AR. Please confirm what I have been told. This would make a bolt change more what I am looking for. 1/2 case deep with some Rebel Rouser IPA.....sorry if my thoughts and ideas don't come across correctly.
  20. yup, education is expensive.....one way or another you are gonna pay
  21. 584 motorcycles in the run to the North Dakota State Veterans cemetery today. Tyat doesn't include the people already there to honor their loved ones, nor the people who showed up later. On helluva sight to see, that line of bikes, flags, and colors flying proudly for our veterans!
  22. HAHAHHHAHAAHAHAHHAHA!!!!!!!!
  23. Normally there should be too much difference in the chamber diameter between 22lr and 22mag to allow for proper functionality of a magazine swap type system. The extraction would be the first problem to solve, then the lead buildup in the lead area of the chamber would be next problem to overcome.
  24. For me, I have always tried to stay within the factory OAL length of rounds, just due to my need to be able to use any and all ammo I have loaded in any and all guns (future and present) that I own. No special loads for me, other than tailoring a powder charge for the guns' liking a bit more. I value having ammo that works in all situations over having something that cannot be used in a different gun because of something like COL.
  25. ......Sorry illegal immigrants. ...
