I didn't say i was stopping at 1000 rounds. ;<) I have about doubly that already, but it's mostly top shelf stuff. It's all gets stored in .50 cal type ammo cans. And most of it is in the house as the garage is not climate controlled.

To all, I'm looking to snag about 1000 rounds of SHTF ammo. My thinking is just good ole M80 ball. There are quite a few brands out there like Hertenberger, PPU, PMC, Men, ZQI, Federal IMI, ect, ect.. And is M80 ball my best choice? So what says the collective, of what a good ammo brand is, for long term storage? Should I buy only fresh, sealed battle packs only? I do plan on rotating it out and using it for range/plinking ammo. I haven't seen an APX yet, and i haven't run across a review of it either. And from what I have read the APX and the 320 are the only two that meet the whole modularity requirements. That's not to say that ole Gaston's boys haven't kicked out something that does meet the requirements. And no one knows what got S&W eliminated either. I doubt we will ever hear why. I'm like you, I cannot shoot a Glock for the life of me. The grip angle makes my natural point of aim hit WAY low. I did shoot the VP40 a couple of weeks ago. My HK P2000SK .40S&W is going to have a new stable mate shortly. My H&K fits my hand perfect, it feels like an extension of my arm. I tell people the same thing as Shepp said. I don't care who makes it, if it fits your hand and you shoot it well, run with it. JMHO, Shane

I agree with ya ARTrooper, but we had no problems at all whacking 500 yard targets with an M16 and open sights. Ahh those fond memories of the old triangle hand guard. LOL Now at 57 years old I can't even see a silhouette target at 500 yards without a scope.

Tony have you ever shot a 308AR? Those M16s we lugged around feel like a pellet gun compared to my LR-308 when ya pull the trigger. What else do you need to put that bad boy together? Shane

Why is it with the G2 that a Pmag won't work? My LR-308 has no issues with them at all. TexMex if you're looking for a home for those Pmags let me know.

Those are designed to be deployed from an Osprey. It's interesting to me that it is strictly a logistics vehicle. Fast resupply in any terrain. I can see the Marines mounting some serious fire power on it too. As blue said nice to see them not get a hand me down for once.
