  1. Agree, I learned new stuff and reinforced stuff I learned previously and will do it again next year. I want to also try Appleseed,Mapleseed is a single day, not two days like Appleseeed.I want to learn about the history aspect taught in Appleseed. Appleseed also has several shooting program that look interesting. I did learn how having things interrupt my gets in my head and effects my following shots. I need to let go,move on and save the analysis till after the shopoting is done. Also need to a small change can make a difference, in this case using different ammo( just grabbed random box of .22 cause it was a brick of 500 and ready to go).
  2. The rest of her is pretty ...
  3. Closest I seem to get to canning is making applepie moonshine
  4. Yep same as Appleseed, of course being Canada the targets are set at 25M(82ft) but simulate 4MOA targets in yards at the distances you posted. Actually this is my second time, I actually scored better last year getting a 225/250( also with the same rifle ). The ammo I used this year started hanging up when cycling the bolt every so often which slowed me down a touch. Going to see if a touch of polishing or tweeking the mag will make a difference and if not, then this ammo will not be used on this rifle.
  5. So Mapleseed was a success, with only a couple learning hiccups So for those that don't know(maybe Appleseed is different). There are 4 courses of fire. Rifle- Ruger Precision Rimfire, Nikon 4-12 Rimfire scope First- Standing,1 target, 10 rds, no mag change, 2 min (46/50) Second- Standing to sitting or kneeling( shooters choice),2 targets, 10 rds, 1 mag change, 55sec (40/50) Third- Standing to prone, 3 targets,10 rds, 1 mag change,65sec(42/50) Fourth-Prone,4 targets,10rds,no mag change,5 min(86/100) The targets get progressively smaller. Needed 210 to get Rifleman, scoured 214 and only one to qualify with a bolt action rifle So for learning hiccup, the flat nose SK would occasionally jam when pushing the bolt forward,so either need to polish the feed ramps or just not use this ammo in the Ruger. Also need to see how it feeds in other .22s. I ran 100 rds prior to Mapleseed with no hiccups and probably mid way into day of shooting when misfeeds started occuring. Other one I couldn't control was people putting bullets into my qualifing target. Unfortunately if you have extra bullets in your target they start by eliminating the highest score first.
  6. I get the feeling there are those in government that really don't care.
  7. This is where one hopes to be driving a diesel truck near the front. Wide sholders there make it easy to do a 3 point turn and back up to the blockade. Checking windage( as a shooter should) and which protesters are chained. Park making sure the protestors are down wind of the tail pipe.
  8. I'll catch one locally( Washington state) they are held at Custer along with a couple other locations. I will take advantage of checking out your instructor's manual.
  9. Next weekend on the 3rd I'm doing Mapleseed which is the Canadian version to Appleseed. Where it differes from Appleseed is Mapleseed is only one day and there is no historical part of the course. The focus is natural point of aim, prone, sitting, kneeling and standing using a sling for support. Given the oportunity I want to try the Appleseed.
  10. All I know is once this pistol BS is sorted out up here the first think I'm buying is American made 1911 in 45ACP. When they announced the impending ban all the good 1911s were gone.
  11. Meet Ansell, right now he's in number 1 for dogs and 8th overall for peaks conqured for 2023 in BC. He's limited because some peaks are out of bounds to dogs. It's an informal compitition called the Bagger Challenge https://www.baggerchallenge.ca/
  12. Imagine him as your history teacher Great find, loved the video on the Mosquito my favorite plane of all time
  13. I'm already sold on the B zone , was hoping to shoot it but now have to find some old targets or draw in B zone
  14. Well pretty much why we shoot the 'classic' up here... poor snowflakes and their feelings. At my club the one range that allows drop ins/guest has a no human like target rule. Even zombie targets that have human features. If we keep catering to this BS it just encourages them. Sad to hear the 'B' is gone, was kinda hoping to shoot that in the US.
  15. If a movie was made of this man's life most would just think it's Hollywood fluff. To quote Mario Andretti " The man.the myth, the legend"
  16. Coming down to the shoots was a contributing factor. I'll bring some IPSC targets down in the fall. I learned that lesson, got so focused on moving from one target set to the next I forgot to swap mags. Half way through the set I ran dry and had to swap. That wasted time almost as bad as the government wasting taxpayer's dollars.
  17. So I passed well kinda, I still have to shoot a match( I have 1 year) and not get DQed( disqualified for safety) Today was a lot of fun, went through 400rds. With only two of us in the course we had time to build courses and go through several times trying different stratagies to see what worked what didn't. Even if I don't compete it has certainly improved my pistol game especially as to mag changes and holster work. While the USPSA matches don't count towards my qualifying match they happen more fequently and a great way to prep for my first match. The difference in targets, USPSA is on the left while IPSC target is on the right with no B zone
  18. Imagine the frenzy he could have cause saying Merry Christmas or God Bless You!
  19. https://governmentofbc.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=950b4eec577a4dc5b298a61adab41c06 The above link takes you to an interactive map of BC and clicking on the various icons tells you what's going on at that location. Usually where cause is listed as unknow it means human caused.
  20. Temps have dropped to low-mid 70s with possible rain Wednesday which is badly needed. Even though I'm 200 miles away from the nearest main fire it smell like campfire. Sun set 7PM Ash on the truck this morning. If I'm 200 miles away and pretty much on the coast so those closer even if not in immediate danger from the fire are pretty much chew the air.
  21. So today was day one, with only two of us we got trigger time. Went through 380rds and with 10rd limit on mags my mag changes are only going to get faster . The focus was moving the firing line and engaging multiple targets( moving left to right.rigt to left. We then worked up to moving to different positions and doing mag changes on the fly. @392heminut, Turns out there is an IDPA Canada but not at my local range. Local range has an IPSC club and training nights. There is alsp LEAP(Law Enforcement Action Pistol) with 2nd Saturday matches are in accordance with the Canadian Police Combat Association (CPCA) rules.Fourth Saturday matches consist of various Law Enforcement courses of fire used throughout North America and often includes a steel match. Custer range in Washington has a USPSA shoot first Sunday of every month
  22. Those LRB M-25 are gorgeous! Now I want one, question is can I have one brought in as the Canadian rules are pretty crazy right now and in a state of flux. For your viewing pleasure Five unfired still in factory grease Italian recievers
  23. I figure 2 days of coaching and running drills with an IPSC instructor for CAD200, so it's not even real money is a pretty good deal. There is only myself and one other student so lots of trigger time Appreciate the vote of confidence, but just 'cause Canadians have done well as snipers on the world stage, maple syrup consumption does not translate into good shooting scores.
