  1. Was it the width of the 'lug' you measured as that 0.206"/5.234mm, the centre to centre distance is measureed from centre of gap to centre of gap and is 0.394"/10.01mm Those are for picatinny rails. The centre to centre distance of the gap is the critical dimension. Out of curiosity do you have another rifle or friend with rifle that you can try the one piece mount onto? also try a known one piece onto the rifle. Hopefully it's the mount that is out of spec as that's an easier fix
  2. The white wire is not the ground in houses, green or bare copper is. The white is the neutral( return path aka the identified conductor). In DC voltage the black is usually the ground but in AC voltage the black is hot. Also only the white conductor is the identified conductor even if you put lables on all the other colour wires Once you get your head wrapped around that and that branch circuits can be more colours that a LGBQTLDT???? poster as long as the colour white or green( in AC) is nota hot life is good. In the fall after a few drinks @DNP and I will teach you about ground wire vs bonding wire and why even electricians( sadely) get it wrong
  3. Something is off it's either the 1pc mount of the rail. Break out the calipers and measure the width of the lugs on the one piece mount along with the centre to centre distance. The key difference lies in the placement of the recoil grooves and with width of the grooves. MIL-STD-1913 (Picatinny) grooves are .206″ wide and have a center-to-center width of .394”. The placement of these grooves has to be consistent in order for it to be a true ‘Picatinny’MIL-STD system. Weaver systems have a .180” width of recoil groove and are not necessarily consistent in a center-to-center measurement from one groove to the next.
  4. Well if he's going to make bullets he'll be able to make a lower.
  5. The rifle disscused will not be coming till the fall but I will darken your doorr step in and around the afternoon of Wed the 8th
  6. Check with your scrap guy, up here if you have a load of mixed scrap they bases the overall price on the lowest value. Sort it by size #16AWG clean copperand larger fetches best price( #1 copper) smaller stuff fetches lower price per pound
  7. So update time The bad- rifle will not be coming to spring shoot , it will be done just before but I don't want it in shipping transit and arriving while I'm away and paperwork will not be done in time. Up here guns are mailed straight to our residences The good- once it arrives I not only file the rifle paperwork but adding handguns to the list seeing as I can still bring them back and forth( they also dropped the stupid reimportation fee per pistol).I'll also have time to work up some loads for the rifle.
  8. Sunny 28F but with a good breeze feels like 18F, light snow for weekend that will melt pretty quickley

  12. Sending some Canadian bacon you way Rex... US faces new threat from Canadian ‘super pig’ from- https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/world/incredibly-intelligent-highly-elusive-us-faces-new-threat-from-canadian-super-pig/ar-AA17HnvX?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=5504c983f9a448aa81e6665584698f90 "Brook and others are particularly troubled by the emergence of a “super pig”, created by farmers cross-breeding wild boar and domestic pigs in the 1980s. The result was a larger swine, which produced more meat, and was easier for people to shoot in Canadian hunting reserves. These pigs escaped captivity and swiftly spread across Canada, with the super pig proving to be an incredibly proficient breeder, Brook said, while its giant size – one pig has been clocked at more than 300kg (661lbs) – makes it able to survive the frigid western Canada winters, where the wind chill can be -50C."
  13. Probably invented by a civil war soldier after getting an army 'steak' once to often

  15. Welcome from BC
  16. This pretty much sums up the effectiveness of gun free zones( from original article) According to a 2018 study by the Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC), a whopping 97.8% of mass shootings over a 68-year period occurred in “gun-free zones.” but hey why lets facts get in the way of feelings
  17. Not so sure that USPS isn't also part of the issue. Mike sent me something from Idaho, so it then went to Spokane but after that it went south to Sacramento then Santa Barbara and now sitting in LA. Has me wondering if it will pass through Spokane agin on the way here.

  20. First you got to get them in the bag and make sure they don't chew their way out. Helpful tip when dealing with beavers, the sound of running water drives them crazy trying to find the scource.
