  1. Welcome from BC
  2. Government up here has kinda forced my focus into bolt guns, at least for now. I do have bolt guns but had been focusing on stuff the government was likely to ban. Two manufacturers up here are making upper/lower combos that use AR parts(barrels, furniture,BCG etc) . They will be straight pull back bolts which sucks but not end of world. Makes it easier to keep people in the fight if they can still shoot and bring new shooters in with the promise of when we get our AR upper/lowers back it will be a relatively cheap upgrade for them
  3. So how long have you been seeing calibers as fruit? does this make you some sort of savant
  4. Aren't most of us?just our bodies get fornicated in different ways.
  5. @98Z5V thanks for the info, glad I signed out prior to seeing it last night otherwise would been up till the AM.🍻 The other issue with people and the whizbang toys is their absolute trust in the output. Faulty output from wrong input usually operator but sometimes sensor results in wrong info, the more critical the answer the bigger the error. Well the simple solution is to get both a 6.5CM and a .260REM, fortunately I reload
  6. Looks like I'm adding a .260 bolt to the shopping list it's like a voice in my head saying something about superior ballistics
  7. Well looks like I got a bit of reading to do... Still going to need a 6.5CM seeing as I've got dies and bullets
  8. @shooterrex I was planning my return trip on the drive home from my first fall shoot. I would have been down this spring if covid hadn't shown up and now just hoping that I'll be able to cross the border in Nov.
  9. That's next on list once I top off the toy fund with any luck I'll have that to bring down to.
  10. You have obviously never pound in 10ft ground rods into rocky soil... that my good sir is the challenge
  11. Not going to last and have to go on afternoons till the issue is solved so in there like a fat kid on a smartie
  12. Well seems this whole thread is a play by play of what happens when you ask
  13. Can't be any worse then laying out the toolboxes at home Thanks, someone had mentioned shooting .22 at longer ranges as a good training aid for shooting .308. Saw the .22 on the rack so half joking said to my gun pusher 'So what sort of deal if I buy both?" Well you see the results. You and me both brother, let's get this covid crap solved so the borders open up. Kinda looking forward to stretching the .22 also and then some... Well on afternoons for the next couple weeks shift premium, underground premium and some weekend overtime will get the toy fund topped up for the next addition. On the plus I can hit the range during the day when it's empty
  14. Well if you have to ask...
  15. Well you did say buy 2 or 3, who am I to argue Bolt action rifles pretty much walk in, show firearms licence( jus show store records nothing) and walk out. Handguns have to be called in and transfer paperwork done(quickest for me 24 hrs, longest 3 days) this will vary from province to province. If I'm lazy do it online and it will be delivered directly to the house. Now to start planning my hardcase inspired by your's
  16. Why put off till Saturday what you can do on Thursday...
  17. These look like fun https://www.pepperball.com/product_cat/projectiles/
  18. Well first caliber on the list is .308 I have lots of brass and bullets but will not stop there... Which would be a wonderful thing if I lived on your side of the border. Unfortunately ITAR is pretty fussy about firearm stuff being exported out of the USA. Even stuff like unmachined AR forgings that can be sold over the counter in the USA cannot be taken out of the USA without an export permit. If previous behavior is any indication, stopping at three will be a small miracle.
  19. Love that set up FYI the Gen3 has a slightly smaller handguard dia
  20. So slow morning at work allowed some online reading. So looking at about CAN$400 difference which in itself isn't a deal breaker. I'll handle both on Saturday for final decision. Right now the Ruger is slightly ahead on points the thing that helps the Ruger is the ease/availability of swapping /upgrading parts including the barrel,I have a selection of AR stocks, grips and handguards. It seems the Tikka's finish is a bit better but Saturday will determine how much difference that makes. Ideally I wish they sold it as a stripped chassis and action without stock, grip or handguard and then allow you to pick their stuff or not. The Ruger seems more ideal if you are going to swap stuff whereas the Tikka is about leaving well enough alone. In the end both rifles are more capable than me and any shortcomings in performance will trace back to operator error. @Matt.Cross have you checked out Tikka mags? Up here they're CAN$ 200 each and rifle only comes with a single mag.
  21. LGS has both the Ruger and Tikka in stock so likely go down Saturday and fondle both and along with what I hear adopt one Main difference I can find is the handguard, G2 is keylok and a bit bigger dia, G3 is Mlok
  22. So any feedback/opinions? Looking at adding one to the collection, a) currently my ARs can't come out and play b) I have a pile of AR parts(stocks, bipods, scopes etc) which the RPR will take c) 308 ammo here and in Arizona plus reloading stuff. d) It can leave my house both to shoot up in the mountains and across the border. I've read good reviews but rather hear what people here have to say.
