Suddenly their store name is perfect. It all makes sense now. -
DANG! Way to go @Palmetto State Armory

I replaced the extractor in my PA10 with the DPMS G2 style with the elastometer "spring". Runs great. Found the whole bolt kit to be about the same price as just the 2 components. I got spare parts which is a plus. Bolt kit at Midway
-
I opened this thread with the intention of showing off my bench but after seeing those setups, think I'll just sit this one out. Awesome "benches" fellas!
-
It does, Midway's product pic is outdated. I contacted DPMS and they said all the kits with that p/n ship with the elasto button and g2 extractor. My kit did in fact include the latest n greatest.
-
Back to the spare parts subject, I bought this kit mostly for the improved extractor setup. Side effect, I now have spare parts for the bolt. Works flawlessly. DPMS bolt kit

Great job! Old post but I'm in a tree right now and your story is much more entertaining than the raccoon in front of me. Beautiful elk!

At first i thought i shot high because of the exit, but sitting down on the water, shooting up, made for the high exit. Dead is dead. Those Sierra Gameking pills are just awesome.

Thank y'all! My buddy and I joked as we were dragging the boat, singing "Don't y'all think this huntin bit d'done got outta haaaand" to ol Waylon's melody.

Thanks fellas!

Yeah buddy. When the hunting pressure kicks up, our deer head for the water.

After freezing my nads off most of last week and coming home hungry, it came together for me today. This one was special for me. He made me work for him. I've always wanted to shoot one sneaking around in my pirogue. On the way out last night, I lost my GPS. That was interesting. We can't use flagging or reflectors on the public land we hunt so the GPS is crucial to get back to my honeyhole. Its about a quarter mile walk dragging the pirogue, quarter mile paddle through the swamp, followed by a half mile hike to my stand. No gps on the way out, in the dark, very interesting. Anyways, we headed back this am after the sun came up to find my GPS. I'm paddling up to the part where the half mile hike starts and I see a deer. Check for horns (it's buck only right now, doe a no go). I swap the paddle for the PA10, pirogue still in motion. Take aim with him walking away at about 50 yards. My home grown 165 grain Sierra HPBT plants him. It was freakin AWESOME. First deer for me all season. It's been a long one. Btw, I found the damn GPS! Life is good!

Floating around in my emails... This brand spanking new Airbus 340-600, the largest passenger airplane ever built, sits just outside its hangar in Toulouse, France without a single hour of airtime. Enter the Arab flight crew of Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies (ADAT) to conduct pre-delivery tests on the ground, such as engine run-ups, prior to delivery to Etihad Airways in Abu Dhabi The ADAT crew taxied the A340-600 to the run-up area. Then they took all four engines to takeoff power with a virtually empty aircraft Not having read the run-up manuals, they had no clue just how light an empty A340-600 really is. The takeoff warning horn was blaring away in the cockpit because they had All 4 engines at full power. The aircraft computers thought they were trying to take off, but it had not been configured properly (flaps/slats, etc..) Then one of the ADAT crew decided to pull the circuit breaker on the Ground Proximity Sensor to silence the alarm. This fools the aircraft into thinking it is in the air. The computers automatically released all the brakes and set the aircraft rocketing forward. The ADAT crew had no idea that this is a safety feature so that pilots can't land with the brakes on. Not one member of the 7 man Arab crew was smart enough to throttle back the engines from their max power setting, so the $200 million brand-new aircraft crashed into a blast barrier, totaling it The extent of injuries to the crew is unknown due to the news blackout in the major media in France and elsewhere. Because......... Coverage of the story was deemed insulting to Muslim Arabs. Finally, the photos are starting to leak out. One French Airbus: $200 million dollars Untrained Arab Flight Crew: $300,000 Yearly Salary Unread Operating Manual: $300 Aircraft meets retaining wall and the wall wins. PRICELESS!!! "And that's why Allah gave them camels"! HAVE A GREAT DAY............ God is great!!!

I hear ya! But for us who usually wear short sleeves on Christmas, it was a mountain from a molehill. I'm gettin' too ol for that.
-
Thanks Shepp. It's just a Yammy 40 four stroke. Nothing special but it gets me where I wanna be.

Snow made it down to us coonasses. I've never had the opportunity to hunt in the snow so, I wasn't gonna miss it. I can unequivocally now say, FUÇĶ SNOW! Much like my sister-in-law, it was fun to look at, but a total fuqing bitch to be around. The deer weren't having it either. Check that off the bucket list

Mud bugs and shrimp?!?!?! Pass the Tabasco, SHA! -
I built my PA-10 for the exact use you're intending. Well, not entirely. I own an X-bolt .308 but the WMA I hunt has a hog epidemic currently. I wanted something affordable, light(ish), powerful, and as much ammo as possible. PA-10 with a Faxon pencil fit the bill. I must say, after many hunts with this weapon, it's my new favorite. A few of my spots are open cypress swamp that could reach up to 200 yards. For those, the X-bolt gets to play, but 95% of the time shots are inside 50. All that said, BUILD IT! Start with a nice lightweight barrel (16"!!!) and go from there. My PA-10 upper/lower fit leaves much to be desired. I shimmed it/accuwedged it but it still bothers me. Here's a smoking deal on an Areo set M5 308 set. If I could do it again, that's how I'da done it. Here's mine with it's first meal.

Is it possible complete ar308 under 9#

Titanium grip screw, dafuq? Lol -
Thanks fellas. I'm very pleased with how it all turned out. It balances well and is a handy lil'big rifle. On to some venison now...
