Rifle length gas port or the +2 on a 22’m barrel
Radioactive replied to Sharkbait's topic in Member Builds
DPMS pattern so watch out with armalight parts I believe @98Z5V built a dpms Pattern gun with mostly armalight parts- not sure what hoops he had to jump through to build it. I thought you mentioned kreiger not wanting to do a +2 gas length. Other barrel makers out there that do fine barrels. -
Hmmmm maybe if I had no other choice. For the record I love to catch fish and don’t care to eat them. Fish is great as long as it doesn’t smell or taste like fish.

I saw that recipe also but I already had several bottles of 99% alchohol so went with that. What does a bottle of heat run price wise?

Not boring to me.

Rifle length gas port or the +2 on a 22’m barrel

You don’t have to do the +2 gas system. You need to be careful what parts you pick because there is no standard for the large frame ar. Some parts are not compatible with all the available patterns and parts. Armalight is good stuff but some of it only works with armalight receivers which are pretty pricey and may be hard to find. Don’t go hog wild and end up with a pile of incompatible parts. Lr308 implies dpms and much is not compatible with armalight. Get a list of what your thinking together and let the experts weigh in on how well they will work together. We have guys that prefer armalight and guys that have done something with pretty much any available pattern. Go slow and make sure you are chasing the right stuff -

Rifle length gas port or the +2 on a 22’m barrel

I have a plus 2 on a 22” 260 rem build that needed the gas port opened up to function properly with real 308 recoil components installed. Dwell time and port size are the key items, you can make a rifle length gas system work on a really long barrel (long dwell time) but the port needs to be smaller or the gas system needs to be chocked down somehow. Whichever way you go if you deviate from the original dwell time you are going to have to compensate for the difference and that can get complicated fast. Rifle length gas and 20” barrel or +2 gas and 22” barrel have the same dwell time. This is of course depending on cartridge pressure so if you deviate from the standard 308 that press can change which can affect your gas pulse from the standard dwell time. I’m not trying to confuse you and may have thrown too much info at you without the background gor it but it shows how easily things can get complicated if stoners orig design values are changed just so a company can sell some newer cheaper part. 98z5w and the rest of the guys here have a shoot load of experience with this stuff and can make recommendations to get you lined out. It is up to you to read what they say ask questions to make sure you understand and take their advice and move forward. If you are not open minded enough to do that then the guys won’t waste their time. not trying to scare you off just settin the stage sorry for the long post and Welcome to the fun zone. -
Karma? You are “The master enabler” after all.

Mines about 2-3 hours now that we have a zero turn took much longer with the other rider. I cringe when it rains cause I swear I can see the grass growing. I bought the zero turn for the wife so she could mow a little each day only prob is every time she mows the yard gets smaller until I have to fire up the tractor with the bush hog and beat the overgrowth back some. At least I don’t have to spend every off day working on the yard. I hate mowing cause it looks good for all of about a day (seems like 15 min) then starts looking like it needs mowed again.

Last time I was at glamis dunes is when the first quads started to show up. Man that had to be 82-83 timeframe. We were all on 3 wheelers. Only a couple quads I’m thinking Honda 250’s and 200’s were the big deal then. I don’t remember much of it as it was a long time ago and I spent the whole 3 days in a drunken stupor. I’m surprised I didn’t get killed. Because of that trip i had the fever and I bought a brand new yammi tri z 250 when I transferred to the east coast.Never made it back out to the desert dunes of glamis though. Tore up some woods in Maine and New Hampshire with that thing when I landed in Kittery Maine on a sub in the shipyard there. Whoooo Weeee that was a while back when I was young and dumb and full of... now I’m just old and stupid and grouchy.... you know get off my fukkin lawn kinda thing.

Nothin - it was the gunsafe thread figured you had some way of storing all those valuable armalite parts.

Dang family reunion started by hacking @RedRiverII ‘a question about a safe. Well played! It’s obvious you belong here with your past history and the ability to derail a thread in epic style. Not only all that but now ya got me thinking about putting an orange box in my house for keeping ammo and shiit in. I swear I love this place you guys rock.

@DNPOk thanks

Hey how do you guys tag some one in a post for notification when you drag them into the fray? I mentioned Rsquared in a post but didn’t know how to let him know about it. Sorry to be ignorant of the ways these electronic thingy’s work.

I figured something was amiss but was powerless to resist and have succumbed to the dark side. There is a syndrome term for that sort of thing isn’t there? Stockholm maybe? 🤷♂️

I guess I’m old and slow. What hardware you need in to lock up? Isn’t it attached to your guns? Otherwise it’s just parts right? I could see maybe some receivers or a high dollar barrel. You have a bunch of build stuff laying around like Rsquared does? You could ask him. I guess they could go into something like you pictured. How you thinking you are going to lock it down so it can’t be carted off? I’m just curious what your intentions are.

Blame it on the heat. Living in a blast furnace can affect your mental state as well as suck all the energy from your body.

That’s how mine went as well I had shoulder surgery and a friend had knee replacement The same day 8 weeks later I was still in a sling getting ready to start therapy and he was walking around. It sucked.

When do start therapy?
