  1. Ballsy move Ron! LoL
  2. I'm going to sit this one out. My true love wore cheap Chinese optics for the last 6 years or so. God bless you Tom, I owe you big time you big hairy galoot.
  3. The H9 looks cool, but geez, the price point.
  4. Those are some good lookin' barrels!
  5. It was an epic thread. I just read completely through it, good times!
  6. Long answer short, you'll have no trouble shooting either in your platform. Go for it!
  7. The most direct answer to your question is that when it comes to the sovereignty of free citizens, this country has sadly lost its way. We've become two contingents of people, those who want the predominance of the state, and those who want the predominance of liberty.
  8. It's good shooting if it's not too good to be true. I'd love to witness it firsthand.
  9. I considered it, but elected to cut two separate pieces instead. No particular reason, just my weirdness in play I suppose.
  10. I have all the needed dimensions and have made up some cutaway models of the old buffer and the new one. They are largely the same profile, but the body of the new one won't be hollow. Old buffer layout.... New buffer layout... Machining hopefully begins Saturday!
  11. The material is cut and prepared to begin machining in earnest! Saturday morning hopefully...
  12. Well, my 416 stainless has arrived, 1 foot in length. It appears there's enough material for possibly 2 heavy buffers, we shall see!
  13. It's made for men with man-sized hands. There's Glocks for everyone else...
  14. Yeah, a LAW Tactical Folding Adapter would round her out nicely I think.
  15. She's long legged for sure. I need to get a folding stock adapter....
  16. I'm not sure yet. I know the Slash heavy buffers are 10 oz. so anything heavier than that will be fine. I'm hoping that the finished profile is at least 15 oz. and I can remove as much metal as is necessary to make it function correctly.
  17. There's probably more of them in a heavy buffer. That aluminium spacer would allow a couple more to fit, and the housing itself weighs almost nothing. A stainless housing would be much more substantial weight.
  18. So today I decided to do my research and see what my current buffer weighs and what it consists of component wise. There's the complete buffer on the scale.... So the standard buffer is a meager 5.14 ounces? That's surprising! Now, the disassembly.... Also somewhat surprising! It consists of an aluminum housing, 5 tungsten weights, 5 rubber spacers, an aluminum spacer, and the plastic endcap and roll pin. Next up, making a blueprint of the existing buffer, from which to fabricate my heavy buffer.
  19. Admittedly, the heavy buffer is only an intermediate solution. It won't solve the problem of too much gas at the chamber area, that's what the gas block will serve to remedy. However, until such time as I can decide which gas block will be the most practical for me, it's the most effective way I can think of to solve the problem of my BCG traveling too fast. It's also a solution I can implement quickly, cheaply, and with a minimum of effort and a maximum of enjoyment.
  20. Out here we have a few pretty proficient local colleges who have training programs for HVAC and Machining and the like. However, they aren't quite as effective as apprenticeships were back in the day. I learned my trade by pestering local machine shops until they would let me come in and shadow the old timers that know their stuff, and by reading old manuals and other machining publications. The college certificate is just to placate the HR departments, the real value is in what I learned from the experience of the tradesmen themselves, and I can assure you it comes at a PREMIUM to companies that need those specialized skills.
  21. Actually, it's a flame rather than induction, but it's very neatly done.
  22. It's like a Friday morning when noone has dumped a mag yet.....
  23. I don't recall. Judging by the Slash buffers, it isn't too complex.
  24. I definitely like the price point of that one vs the SLR.
