I'm going to say the 28th is concrete with late on the 27th being a possibility. My guns are coming along too, so driving is the mitigating factor on the timeline. Otherwise, anything after the 25th would be fair game.

I agree with you on that too, but the assumptions that the manual made were probably made with trained armorers in mind, folks who had an understanding of how to calculate the total torque and such.

No the manuals aren't incorrect, you have to understand the offset of your wrench, the offset isn't standardized to my knowledge. See the above post for the math.

Taking your example, if the offset is 4", your torque is refactored by 1.33 (4" = ~.33ft) so for instance the 30 ft-lb setting would refactor to 30 x 1.33 = 39.9 ft-lb of torque. So to get~50 lbs of torque, 50 ÷ 1.33 = ~37.6 so if you set your torque wrench for 38 lbs you'll get 50.54 ft-lbs of final torque. You don't have to calculate the length of your torque wrench in at all. If it's reading accurately at the drive, you simply add in the additional torque of the offset.

It's earned a very poor reputation here, to say the least...

The answer will vary between wrenches, essentially you need to know the distance between the center of the torque wrench drive and the center of the wrench socket/pins area.

18 - 20" HBAR .308 is perfect for what you're describing. Add pretty much any muzzle brake with good reviews and your recoil will be as tame as you could want. The weight and rigidity inherent to this platform (plus the fact that it's a semi-auto) make overall recoil negligible as a general rule anyways. As long as your eye relief is right, scope eye won't be an issue.
