  1. Nor for me.

  3. It was too long, unwieldy, too heavy, too inaccurate, and held residual heat for way too long.
  4. Having had a 24" fluted SS bull barrel on a previously owned DPMS LR-308, I fully endorse the 16" recommendation, or if you're concerned about the what-ifs, 18" or 18.5" either one.
  5. Use cutting oil and go slowly, moderate pressure on the bit, and you'll be fine. Don't get aggressive and you'll have no problems. If you do break a bit... You're not the first to have done it. Any competent gunsmith or machinist can retrieve the broken bit and finish the hole for you.
  6. In any case, the Geisselle SSA-E has a good track record and regularly goes on sale at PSA.
  7. I can't say that either is specifically the case, but CMC triggers are less common on this platform. The idea is only to rule it out as a cause, if it isn't contributing to the issues, then by all means use it. I'm only suggesting that a trigger with a good large AR track record can help eliminate potential issues. My feeling is that the CMC is fine and your issues are coming from a tight chamber and all-new parts, possibly compounded by mag issues. That's why I put ruling out the trigger last. ?
  8. There are multiple potential issues; 1. Lubricant; this platform needs lots of it in the upper receiver when new. Lots! 2. Tight new components, and/or a tight chamber. Lubricant takes care of the first, polishing your chamber takes care of the latter. 3. With the first two issues remedied, begin looking at your mags for potential issues, and if mags aren't the problem, try a trigger that's known to be reliable on this platform. That's where I would personally begin.
  9. If you have a pin gauge or drill bit that will fit in the current gas port, use it to line your gas port up to a drill bit in the chuck by eyeball. There's no need to 'fix' the barrel in place with regard to X and Y axis movement. You only need to keep the barrel from rotating under drilling conditions. A standard length drill bit will follow the existing hole without wandering, which is why you can do it with a hand drill as long as you keep the drill oriented roughly parallel to the existing drilled hole.
  10. Cause' @Rsquared drinks all the loaded ammo....
  11. The carbide reamer is overkill. A drill bit is all that's needed. As for Loc-tite, I use both red and blue extensively in my work as a tool and die maker, I wouldn't put either on any part of an AR other than the lower.
  12. It's always on sale for me, or if you're buying it from me. Whether or not it is in stock at the time is the only question.
  13. Look at foliage, mirage, and the Kestrel, and your laser wind finder if you'll loan it out.
  14. Call me argumentative, but watching mirage with your parallax can give you an impressive amount of data on wind behavior, not to mention the ready availability of wind reading technologies that are parallel to rangefinding technology. I would agree with distance being a more determinant factor overall. 10 mph 90° crosswinds are far more factorial at 850 yards than they are at 100.
  15. Welcome to the forum!
  16. That's what she said!
  17. I've got the ARC-2, have never had or noticed the issue you described. It has a pretty generous eye relief, doesn't require me to move my head a lot to get a great sight picture.
  18. Did some reading up on it... You very well might be the greatest mad inventor of our time!
  19. Fate, genetics, and geography have all conspired to make me 308AR's court jester. How the mighty are fallen....
  20. LOL Meal dots! Them thar Meal Dots liken the Meal-a-tarry yuzes.... Shorthand for Meal-a-Radian ya knuckle heads!
  21. He's about to place a gigantic order of exactly that...
  22. I'm SOL because Greg is also my spirit guide this year. Is it 2020 yet?
  23. Tom will undoubtedly remember the specs on my optics, but long story short it's a Primary Arms job that's just a spectacular performer. I'll shoot you a PM later with some ammo quotes.
  24. LMAO I will most definitely re-use that little gem!
