  1. Talked a personal acquaintance of mine down off an overpass in Kinney TX, had the local PD pick him up and drop him off with a well-respected psych hospital. He committed suicide in Dallas, two days after leaving the psych facility. Point being, you can go to the far end of the earth to try and help someone, but ultimately it is up to them to determine that life is worth the effort it takes to enjoy it.
  2. If that's the case, you need another rifle. Long range effectiveness and CQB don't really mix and match. Long range accuracy needs rigidity, which equates to weight, and weight is not your friend in a CQB rifle until it's empty and you have to club someone with it.
  3. Outside of getting your fundamentals correct, the combination of a good barrel and an excellent trigger will be the two primary accuracy factors, as far as mechanics are concerned. Your accuracy will never exceed your ability to break the shot when your sight picture is coincident with your intended Point of Impact. That's where a great trigger makes all the difference.
  4. #1. Welcome to the forums! #2. Nice choice of rifle! #3. Please, be more specific about what kind of accuracy you're achieving, and how much accuracy you're wanting to get. #4. Also be more specific with regard to how you want to make your rifle more efficient.
  5. Tubb flat wound in conjunction with an SLR Sentry works really well, as several here can attest. I implemented that very combination on our last group shoot and it worked really well.
  6. Can you make the bolt lock to the rear manually? If not, your buffer may be too long. Ask me how I know... LOL.
  7. Just mentioning that rifle makes my shoulder tingle..... *shuddder* I need to shoot it again though, I think I have some unresolved issues.
  8. I hope he had the foresight to tatoo "Neva been done befo" on his anus...
  9. Amen brother! Hooooly frick, does it ever shoot nice.
  10. Details man, details! Or we can dogpile you with a few weeks of incessant ball-busting....
  11. LOL What?!!! Spill it... What's rattling around in that noggin'?
  12. CZ Redhead Premier Target 12 ga O/U
  13. Short-sighted CEOs going after body armor companies, they should realize that it is needful for both the police and their bodyguards. You can't fix stupid.
  14. They still weren't as of 1:00 EST today.
  15. Their liquidation sale is BS, guns aren't discounted as of this post.
  16. I'll give 2nd thumbs-up to SLR, specifically their Sentry series. Outstanding product!
  17. Bah, I'm done with it. It was originally a thread about terminology pet peeves. I didn't mean for it to become a dissertation on how the prevalence of a misused term excuses it's misuse. Ya'll pardon me while I go back to being privately annoyed by apathetic morons who inconvenience others unnecessarily.
  18. I don't own either, Armalite or DPMS, I don't have a dog in the brand superiority fight. With regards to the online vendors who mislabel their wares, they have to deal with the dissatisfied customers, returns, and liabilities of misinforming folks. Just because enough idiots are doing it doesn't mean it should be mainstream, or that it's not insensible. If anything is childish, it's an "everyone else does it so it must be OK" mindset. People that get screwed over by online vendors don't generally go back to them for help, they come here to get information. If they get here and run into the same ambiguity and confusion, we've done them a disservice. That's where I'm coming from, and to quote Forrest Gump, "That's all I have to say about that."
  19. "Cosmetic" is a cute term for it. Try putting a DPMS upper on an Armalite lower and you'll find that line is "functionally" different as well. Same goes for incompatible internals. I'm not arguing that the two brands don't look similar, I'm arguing that similar appearances aren't a fantastic excuse for using misleading terminology. There isn't any ambiguity or risk of misunderstanding if you simply use the manufacturer's designation.
  20. You managed to completely miss the point of the comparison, which should be very easy to catch. It's designation vs. brand, and in the gun world the difference matters, especially when you're purchasing from companies who know the difference. Name two cars of different brands that are so similar in appearance that they're used synonymously with each other. We've already witnessed the problems that can arise from using the terms interchangeably, why would you want more of the same?
  21. Poor thing, building a custom AR off of your allowance while living in your mom's basement has to be difficult. Oh well.... He won't be missed.
