  1. I fucked up and misread (or flat out didnt read) a stupid subsection in California's gawdam AWB law. Now I'm racing to unfuck my situation... I have a metric shiit ton of replacement parts coming from several vendors/sources. Hoping the delivery trucks gets here (7/13) before CA-DOJ does. This was an expense I was not prepared for. MT and AZ are looking better and better every gawdam second.
  2. I doubt you'll need an adjustable GB on a rifle length gas... even with a can on. If you're willing to use an adjustable GB, it doesn't matter if you use a mid or rifle length gas.
  3. Crap! Another one.... we need an Internet block on AZ. Bienvenidos Caballero.
  4. Why so much more than .500? I can get the .500 reloaded with 500gr lead for $1.25
  5. This is badass. Just add to my reasons for wanting to move to Montana.
  6. is the .50Beo considered a magnum round? Like the .500 S&W?
  7. How bad is it when 6 to 8 MOA is considered adequate? And 12 MOA is a passing score... thanks to the snake oil salesman who sold it, and my autistic superiors who can't ignore shiny objects.
  8. Or maybe I just hate that rifle as much as a red headed step child. Helps me remember it's a tool as much as a weapon.
  9. I actually do carry a rifle at work. I have used it to clear broken glass in windows, as a step ladder for teammates, and as a brace to pull myself up. "More appropriate tools" are not carried by all of us. So "Tactical" still has a place for .01% of us... I agree that I'd love my rifles to all weigh 4 lbs... hell, I wish they weighed 2 lbs... but not at the sacrifice of durability, reliability and "tactical" features. As technology advances, those features are getting lighter and lighter. There's some great items out there if you're willing to spend the $$$. I invested in a carbon fiber wrapped barrel to cut weight. Using 6065 parts instead of 7075 helps. The new polymers that are available make a huge difference too. I agree with you on the flash hiders. I'm a comp fan, but can see the bonus of a good brake. The new blast shields are nice for us .01% guys who don't want to blow up our partners... all extra weight
  10. Ouch! One star review based solely on cosmetics, and nothing to do with fit, form or function?? That reminds me of those stories of rappers who throw away "ruined" sneakers after one or two uses because they refuse to have dirt on their shoes. If that first mag upset you... I'll post some pics that'll outright make you cry.
  11. Hmmmm.... I wonder... where would you hide a giant jelly song so that it couldn't be found?
  12. Maybe for you... while I agree the conquest is a noble one and very enticing... I'm going to assume you're not in a career that provides the likelihood of your rifle ever being used in a combat situation. While I would love a 5 or 6 lbs rifle for hunting or competition, I wouldn't dare risk using it to pull myself up in elevation or to hammer through barriers.
  13. The .458 always seemed like a passover cartridge. If you want power and ammo cost isn't an issue, buy the .50 Beo... If you want power and ammo cost IS an issue, the .450 BM uses regular pistol proj's.
  14. Steer clear of mixing a PSA with anything other than PSA... Steer clear from anything CMMG too, just in case. I'd feel comfortable gambling on a DPMS upper fitting properly.
  15. Nicely done.
  16. So what's the purpose (besides being super lightweight) of this build? Is this just for bench shooting, or do you hump this through the woods too? I like some of the options you made to save weight. I gotta laugh, some of your pics remind me of WWII holocaust photos... Not so much a bad thing in your case.
  17. ASA makes a nice upper. It has no FA and, since it's a side charger, it has no added weight from a charging handle... however slight that may be.
  18. Which lower receiver did you get? Which stock and pistol grip did you choose? Which handguard do you have? I'm guessing you got the Faxon 18" med contour, weighing 2.28#.
  19. Luck would make Tom his partner.
  20. Never heard of them either. Wish I knew more about their track record on the accuracy of their gauges. The fact that I can get a set of Clymer gauges from Brownells for the same or less doesn't aid in any attraction. I'll keep an eye on this company, but I don't forsee any orders from my end.
  21. The Magpul BAD doesn't fit many .308's in the first place. Look into the Phase5 lever
  22. The lightest I could imagine would have to be built on a Gii receiver (a modified AP4), with a BCM KMR handguard and ACE stock. The barrel should be cut to at least 14.5 if not 13.7, with the appropriate muzzle device pinned on. A few extra mods would cut some extra grams. Other than that... I don't see anyone making a lighter rifle.
  23. If you cry on TV because you're scared of wolves, or anything else short of a bone sticking out of your skin, we'll never let you live it down.
  24. I want to see this 5.9# .308
  25. the only bugs you fools have to worry about are the kinds that are killed with penicillin
