There's a new Colt that's not yet released in the US. Colt has to fulfill it's overseas military contracts before they can make civilian models. http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2014/06/30/colt-ak-7-62x39-colt-ck901-released/

DDLES Pistol Caliber Billet Lowers

I've watched the Glock videos shooting .40s&w in a 10mm... it should be doable in an AR. -
I recently got a text message from Uncle Tom, down in Arizona, stating that there was a surprise in the mail for me. I wasn't sure what to make of this, especially with recent discussions regarding giant, purple, double-headed, jelly dongs. He assured me that this was something I really wanted and that he took the initiative to make sure I had it. He did make me promise not to use it in the house.... My only request to him was that whatever it was, was packaged discreetly, as my mother in law has been living with me since the twins were born. I waited anxiously by the door for several days, until a large brown box appeared at my door. I quickly snapped out my Emerson and got to cutting... and cutting.... and more cutting... HolyFuck! Is there a Ming Vase in here? What the fcuk is all this paper for? Finally I get through about 8" of padding to reach my surprise. Much to my relief, is was neither purple, nor made of jelly. This was a super badass Colombia River (CRKT) Chogan Woods Tomahawk. The very same 'hawk I had been drooling over just a few weeks prior. It came basically as how you see it. There was a little plastic blade guard, but that got tossed with the packaging. The head had a hammered look, with some kind of powder coating (I assume to protect the carbon metal) And the handle was a blonde hickory with a lacquered finish. Those of you who know me know, I can't leave "well enough" alone... First thing I did was strip the handle down to bare wood. Then I re-stained the wood with a much darker mahogany... I tried a grey drift wood look first but that was too light again. After a few stains, I had the look I wanted. Next was the big task. Bust out the dremmel and ground off not only the powder coating, but also all the hammer marks. Took it down to smooth bare metal all over. Break out the heavy sander... hit her with some 60g... then 150g... then some 400 to polish her up. Last, the bare metal was too bright, so I dropped the head in a pot of boiling Apple cider vinegar (something I learned from BladeForum.com, using the acid to age the metal) to put a patina back on the metal. The end result was dull, deep grey finish.... fuckin perfect!! Of course I ordered a new blade protector the second I opened the package. The kydex cover came in the mail the day I finished with all the sanding of the head. My last touch was my first attempt at some paracord knot tying. I dressed up the shafts with a little turk head knot. I also added a strap for the cover to attach to the hawk for added security. Special thanks to my blood brother (it's fuckin happening!) 98Z5V for the hook up. I only hope he's as appreciative of my work as I am of his gift. This 'hawk is getting attached to my gear ASAP, and going everywhere with me from now on. Ps. My wife said I couldn't chop the watermelon... but at least I tried!

Wonkey Headspace Checks on 1st. LR308 Build
Robocop1051 replied to PasoGunner's topic in Building a .308AR
Do you have access to another .308 bcg? It appears that you did everything right. Either the bcg or the barrel are out of spec... or both are on the extreme ends of the spectrum... -0.005 on one end and +0.005 on the other. -
8" CM, Melonite, M4 contour. Three piece "Krink" style b muzzle device. Short. Robust. Lightweight. Easy to disassemble and clean. I put a LOT of foresight into this. It's getting done RIGHT. TRUST ME, when you see the final product, you're going to shiit out an MRE you ate in the 90's.

And so it begins.... I already warned him about you jokers. He got the green light to return fire.

DDLES Pistol Caliber Billet Lowers
Robocop1051 replied to 98Z5V's topic in Firearm Industry News and Gossip
Easy... just have Uncle Tom-ass pick up a lower in AZ. He can bring it with him on Thanksgiving. Then the both of you can do a PPT at the CA-FFL of your choice. Later, you can contact RMW Xtreme for the pistol caliber upper of your dreams. You don't have to make it a short barrel. A 16" (OAL) barrel works fine as well. -
All that, and an ASA side charging upper.... and a $99 8" barrel w/ a no name muzzle device. No reason to go obnoxious there, since I plan on shooting steel (and possibly corrosive) garbage ammo 99.9% of the time. Besides, I'll likely never shoot it beyond 25 (maybe 50) yards. Even a crappy barrel can group at 25 yards.

Invest in JP Yellow Springs. "That much"... no. a slight, almost insignificant, difference... for only $10 more than a standard firing pin... yes We all know Ti is stronger than steel. I figure that the stronger fire group from Hyperfire, combined with the harder/lighter Ti firing pin, will add a fraction more reliability to the firearm. For the record... My first 7.62x39 build was on a LMT with a LMT 2 stage trigger. It uses a MGI enhanced bolt and pin. It hasn't failed me once... I just wanted something different this go around.
-
My current project is a 7.62x39, and I plan on installing a Hyperfire with a 7.62x39 specific titanium firing pin. •Adams Arms Piston System (Pistol length) •LMT Enhanced 7.62x39 Bolt •NiB Cam Pin •Titanium 7.62x39 Enhanced Firing Pin •Hyperfire HiperTouch 24e Trigger It's gonna be sweet!

There are 10x more DPMS compatible parts than Armalite. Armalite parts are always high quality.

Iowa returns 797 S&W handguns
Robocop1051 replied to survivalshop's topic in Firearm Industry News and Gossip
I don't think it matters what state your in... the street urchins here in California barely pass as humans. -
normally I'd suggest the MechArmor trigger, but it's still new and untested against steel surplus ammo. A good and inexpensive trigger group would be the ALG ACT. You can add the JP Yellow springs to lighten the pull even more. If your interested in something fancier, I have a Mega Tactical Trigger that I'm getting ready to post for sale. It comes with a Nib Hammer and springs. You just have to supply a sear disconnect and pins. There is a bit more required to "tune" this trigger. I also have a CMC Flat Trigger I may be willing to part with. It was in my .308 until it was recently replaced with a MechArmor trigger. It has never failed to fire for me.
-
So as I'm reading this... Mr MechArmor calls me on the phone. he's all excited that SS grabbed a set of sights. FMC is the machine shop near MechArmor that builds the TacOps-1. The first run of sights had the shops name on them. The next run should have MechArmor lasered on them. Our group price should be set soon. They want us banging away with new parts by July 4th. More to follow. Ps. It looks like Windham is going to be offering a "MechArmor" pro shop upgrade for ordered rifles. PRETTY SLICK.

They're not available for shipping yet. When they are, you'll read it here first.

Want cheap fun? Build a 7.62x25! Almost the price of .22lr. Edit: nevermind. I just checked prices, and 9mm is cheaper.... Carry on.
