Wait a minute... am I offended by this? I think I'd be more upset if you called me a "gentleman". Lol

10/22 Stainless Heavy Barrel, New to the Safe.
Robocop1051 replied to RAWTAZ's topic in General Discussion
I love my mod'd 10/22... but I honestly love my stock 77/22 even more. I just like that slow bolt action. Makes me feel feel like Carlos, sighting in on those little V.C. squeaks. Nothing special about the rifle. It just feels good. -
light primer stikes

Ah fukk it! You done said it already. You might as well sack up and pull the proverbial trigger. That GII is all you now. -
That is really nice. I'd say it was approaching "lingerie sexy" status. I think my wife will need a second rifle this year... only problem with that excuse is she generally accepts and keeps the famed thing all to herself. I'm picturing a LaRue Stealth upper on top of that... just because I... err, she... doesn't have one yet.

Boom! Yeah... She just went there!

Welcome Sapper... First, let me say I'm jealous (resident of a suppressor banned state)... Second, instead of the adj gas block (unless you plan to only shoot the rifle suppressed with one kind of ammo) take a look at the CAR-10 XH buffer and spring, with a [Noveske] "switchblock". This will let you select firing between suppressed and regular, as well as making the rifle more pleasant and reliable in either function. A bit more expensive than "just" an adjustable gas block, but you'll never be left wanting more out of your rifle... Buy once, cry once.

LR308 Trigger question
Robocop1051 replied to str8shuutr45's topic in DPMS LR-308 General, Technical Discussion
I paid $90 (shipped) for a RRA National Match Trigger at www.joeboboutfitters.com/ You just have to wait for their sales (or use their Mil/LE code, if that applies) -
light primer stikes
Robocop1051 replied to beachmaster's topic in DPMS LR-308 General, Technical Discussion
Remember that mil surplus ammo (it doesn't matter what caliber you pick) is designed to be stored and transported in large metal ammo cans. Because of this, the mil primers are a bit thicker and stronger than a commercial primer, due to the banging around inside the cans. This is a contributing factor to why "mil spec" triggers are generally so rough and tough. Those heavier hammer springs are needed for popping the heavy duty primers. I'll bet if you grabbed some off-the-shelf .308 commercial ammo from <insert your LGS here>, you would be absolutely fine. If you're looking for an inexpensive trigger assembly upgrade, take a look at the ALG triggers. They are made by Geissele and designed for to be a "mil-spec" upgrade. Nothing too fancy, but you can often grab one for $35-$50 depending on the deal. -
Well, my wife is very pleasantly surprised at all of your participation. We checked his status online, and found that he didn't even make the "honorable mention".... After reading the fine print we discovered more. Apparently there is a fee involved, and a teeny-tiny section that says that the pictures are actually picked by a panel of "professional judges". By looking at the winner, you can tell that there are some pretty competitive parents out there. From the looks of it, all the pics that won were from professional photographers, in a controlled setting... Our son was at a local fair and the picture was taken by my wife on her iPhone while he was chowing down on a piece of fruit. It looks like staged cuteness and photoshop beat out the everyday average Joe's... We don't consider it a loss by any stretch. Our kid is an absolute blessing and we wouldn't have it any other way. We don't need a website's certificate, when the admiration of our friends and family is readily evident. You all have been EXCELLENT through this process. I would have loved for that website to have posted a search engine that showed the scores. I find it hard to believe that (based on those I was able to see) there were that many kids with more votes. Thanks again, from a very appreciative Mommy and Daddy..

Hey, you summamabich! Did you buy the 5.11 RUSH sling bag too? I've been hauling that bag for a few months now. How do you like it?
-
Jessie looks a lot like Jane Seymore did in her Nat Geo pics... lol. I'll be she's home telling about how she got to take a picture with a silver back gorilla.

I'd buy one... for a more temperamental round. If they did this in 7.62x39 I'd buy two of them right now. If that blow back 5.7x28 ever hits the market, I'd like like to see this bolt there too. Otherwise... why? I've shot a LOT in my life and I've never broken or wore out a standard bolt... and that was before all the NiB, eXo, TiN coatings that are available now.

SBR! I'm honestly disappointed in all of you that have the ability to own an SBR and/or a suppressor, and you don't take advantage of that opportunity. I can only wish there'll be a day where I have the opportunity to move to a free state, and still get the chance to partake in that.

IMHO... This was the ONLY redeeming factor for CMMG. I still don't recommend EVER buying their parts, unless you're a super gun guru like SS and are able to troubleshoot and modify your own stuff. 99% of every complaint on this site has the same four letter word repeated over, and over again.... CMMG.

If t Hey wanted to impress me, they would've made multiple calibers available besides 5.56 alone. What about 6.8SPC, or 7.62x39? Those calibers are more in need of a new bolt than the 5.56.

Good luck finding one not attached to a rifle... and if you do, it'll likely cost >$500... AND I'm sure it'll weigh more than the FA bbl.

The Sig P226, especially the Tac Ops model, is a beast of a pistol. I'd say you were making out in the trade!

+1 This is the barrel I always recommend to others

That's fiction. I have polymer MBUS on the gas block of my 308. Put lots of rounds through it and there's still no signs of damage. I'm tempted to put one on my piston gas block and see if that gets any hotter. Even though Magpul advised against doing it, I did it. The new polymer is not the plastic they made our GI Joes out of. The heat rating is much higher than perceived.

I was talking about this recently. I didn't understand why the 308 receivers had to he SOOO much larger than their AR15 brethren. I understand the need for the larger cartridge, but it seemed like a bit of an overkill. And why the larger barrel nut? I've been waiting for someone to make a .308 receiver that would accept AR15 handguards.

I'm a huge fan of the R25 for a lightweight hunting rig. Wish they made that thin barrel in a 16". Nice buy. Welcome from NorCal. I look forward to helping you spend your money.

Honestly, I'm surprised it lasted 4 hours. I was tempted to grab it quite a while ago. I told myself I would wait till this evening, and if no one bought it by then... I'm glad it's going to a good home. KS has been keeping me in the loop on his build. I'm excited to see the finished product!

That was a GREAT deal. Nice grab!
