  1. 1. Think about storing your rifle muzzle down. Oil follows gravity and too much oil will eventually end up in your buffer tube, along with all the carbon and junk that comes with it. The muzzle device will protect your crown from damage. 2. Don't take off the gas block unless it looks like it is on incorrectly. The gas block will build a seal from the carbon, making it nearly air tight. That's a good thing! 3. You can artificially wear in your parts as well. Get some 0000 steel wool and oil, then work over the BCG and upper receiver. It won't take off any material, but will smooth out any roughness. 4. Chuck a chamber brush into a hand drill, lube it up real good, and run it high speed in the chamber for a bit. You'll chew your brush all to shiit, but that's replaced for less than $5. It should polish everything up real nice. I don't suggest using any polishing compounds. They speed things up, but they're also acidic and extremely difficult to completely remove when you're done. How do I know if it's properly gassed? Shells eject at the 3 to 4 o'clock, into a neat and tidy pile, about 3 feet off my right hip... and the bolt automatically locks on an empty mag.
  2. My wife bought a Ram 2500 6.7l turbo diesel, lifted on 37" tires... I can hear it suckin gas like a fat kid suckin a Mc Donalds milkshake.
  3. Blowing a gasket is still considered "safe zone"... it's when they go silent that you have to be fearful.
  4. Hey Blue... Where's the BADASS????
  5. Again... I have to push the Fulton Armory barrels.
  6. You are a braver man than I.
  7. Ford Fusion boasts that it gets 105 mpg... that's not a typo. It also costs more than you were willing to spend though. It's going to sell like gold chains at a rap concert when it hits Cali. They say the average commuter here is now going 70-90 miles one way, each day. Besides the gas savings, and special commuter lanes, I think there's a tax break in there too. Of course, you have to live with the fact that you drive a vagina... an American vagina, but still a vagina none the less.
  8. Full auto and .45 Cal blow back systems... Maybe... In all reality, have you ever seen, or even heard of, trigger/hammer pin holes actually wearing out? My father has been shooting the same Colt for nearly 30 years. It still runs flawless with every shot. Spend the $ on a heavy buffer instead. The buffer will slow down and smooth out the cycling, so as to reduce wear on your fire control group. It will also make firing the rifle a lot more pleasurable. The only time I recommend the anti rotation pins is when people use trigger modules like the CMC, or Timney. With those, there isn't any spring tension against the pins to assist in keeping them in the rifle. Both my CMC triggers are held in with C-clips.
  9. Wish Ruger would make a reliable 10/17hmr
  10. A buddy of mine found a 2011 VW Golf diesel for 15k. He gets 55-61 mpg. It's got a little bit of giddy-up under the hood too.
  11. PS. That is insanely difficult on a bike with ABS brakes.
  12. That's the effin guy (from Ventura PD) I competed with in the east bay a few weeks ago. I even told a few about it... He is a BADASS on two wheels. I think that picture above was at a 2011 competition. It was the cover pic on the competition flyer.
  13. :ugone2far:  :sad3: :cookoo: ... and any other faces that say that price is insane.
  14. The smart ones STAY AWAY from that bike... I ride for a living, and I'm scared to death of that machine. I know if I rode it I'd want to see what my limit was... I'm just afraid that my "limit" is a broken neck.
  15. Tom will hit his cereal bowl from 30'... and not a single drop will land on the table... AND he won't use his hands! That S.O.B. is self guided!!!
  16. Balance is a funny topic. The problem with the gargantuan .308 rifle is the weight. You could build a lightweight rifle in the 8 lbs realm... or a balanced rifle in the 10-11 lbs realm. Fulton Armory makes the lightest contour barrel I've seen for the .308. If you really wanted to get tricky, try finding the elusive 13.7" bbl and topping it with a welded KX3. To balance the weight of the front end, check out the Magpul UBR and a heavy buffer. The UBR is a boat anchor in comparison to other stocks. Do yourself a favor. Don't skip out on the Battle Arms Development Ambi saftey switch. Also check out the Phase5 bolt assist lever.
  17. If you want an honest view about short barrels and the bullets coming out of them, find some of those old dogs who have been hunting with Thompson Contenders for the last several decades. Depending on the pistol, some of those guys are taking game out to 300 yards.
  18. He's not saying anything bad about them. For Petes sake, I know he owns at leat two pistol ARs himself. Just recognize the combat effectiveness of the bullet coming from the gun. Don't make be break out the Travis Haley video, shooting an 8" subsonic 300Blk to 700+ yards.
  19. I have a 16" pencil (.625) barrel that I want go cut to 10.3"
  20. No group buy?
  21. I'm investing into Winchester Ammunition before that weekend ever happens. The market will sky rocket.
  22. So jealous. If I hadn't of started a build recently I'd be hitting you up to get in on this.
  23. You'll likely need a new gas tube as well. The 300blk usually uses a carbine or pistol length gas tube.
  24. I couldn't help but notice you have the same issue I had. To prevent this from getting worse, you'll have to relieve the inside of the safety lever. Find my .308 build thread in the "SI Defense" section. Didn't the bolt catch cutout raise any red flags? Amazing that it made it through so many hands and passed inspection each time. I look forward to SI-D's response to this.
