  1. 36yo Army vet being seen for PTSD. Got kicked out of his group session last week.
  2. My best bet is, the deputy shot the suspect in the initial exchange and the wounds killed him. The females were possibly killed in the first volley of shots, since there’s no reports of additional shots later. I’ll wager one of the women is related to the suspect romantically. The other two are just collateral.
  3. You impatient fucker. You were supposed to wait till Spring shoot to unveil this. You couldn’t wait just a few more day. You slay me.
  4. https://www.google.com/amp/www.foxnews.com/us/2018/03/09/veterans-home-california-in-yountville-on-lockdown-after-reports-shots-fired-officials-say.amp.html This is right next to my hometown. In fact, the Fish and Game office was down the street where I’d buy buck tags every year. I had friends respond to this one.... VERY close to home, but not close enough to involve me.
  5. Sexxxxxxxy
  6. It looks awesome!
  7. I'll save you a few more ounces by ditching the FAB (I think it's a FAB?) buttstock, and replacing it with a AB Arms USS Stock.
  8. What is your projectile of choice??
  9. Me....
  10. Headshots. Most every kill I make, since ‘97, has been a headshot. I lost an entire shoulder to a bone hit on a buck in a CO hunt, and said never again. All my bears went straight through the brain pan. Never shoot twice. Don’t lose an ounce of meat.
  11. That’s my “go to” hunting round. I’ve killed a LOT of shit with that bullet, from rabbits to black bears. Great round!! You won’t feel a thing if that’s your usual round.
  12. Oh crap. Maybe? I didn’t even think about that. Might be MY bad. The 7.62x51 is slightly anemic compared to quality .308 win. Especially if you’re used to match 168gr or 175gr. Those little Mil spec 147gr just pop.
  13. The “WOP of the Commonwealth” brings everything to a scale above all scales.
  14. The latent homosexuality far outweighs anything the village people ever put out… I’m ready to go back… But The wife is afraid I won’t come home next time... rightfully so too
  15. Lol seriously though. It’s not much worse that the smaller format rifle. It’s a lot better than blasting an old bolt action rifle in the same caliber. The recoil and impulse of the rifle can be tamed after it’s been shot. New buffer, buffer spring, gas block, muzzle device... all possible modifications that can assist in reducing the kick. No two rifles are the same. It’s all about finding the “cocktail” that works for you and your rifle.
  16. True. 2011 and 2015 parts are obsolete now. Hell, there are some 2017 parts that are already “old news” and upgraded.
  17. That’s awesome. How does she feel when launching lead? That’s a lot of projectile for a lightweight rifle. We’re just ribbing you about the necro. It happens all the time.
  18. I'm imprisoned in the Peoples Republik of Kalifornistan also... Let me get this right... You want to build featureless... BUT... You want to be able to convert to a "complete" rifle when you leave outta state. I may be some help, as I live in NorCal, but frequent the badlands of AZ to visit the delinquents of the desert. *I had to modify the quote above because I'm too lazy to search for the original. First; I know how popular the "Sparrow Dynamic" grip is, and I have no effin' clue why. Its ugly and uncomfortable.... and WAY too close to a "pistol grip" for me to care to explain myself to Officer She-Bitch and Judge IDGAF before they try to take all my guns. Instead of changing everything about your grip, and having to disassemble your rifle to make it "normal" again, have you seen the Exile Machine Back Fin attached to a Magpul MIAD? This is the avenue I went with on several builds. I already had a MIAD grip on a few of my rifles, so adding the Exile fin was a simple process. Now when I leave the PRK, all I have to do is slide out the Exile fin and replace it with a MIAD back strap. I keep the extra back strap in my tool bag or zip tied to my stock. This will alleviate the need for the Resurgent Arms Ext Selector. A simple Ambi Selector works just fine... and you don't have to fiddle with that too when you "convert" back to a Freedom Rifle... Keep it simple. If you don't like the "fin" look, or worry about the ambidexterity, you could also with a HERA CA-Compliant Stock. It's probably the best looking, and feature-laden, fixed full stock available. Exile Machine makes a clear stock insert that fits the HERA. It too is easily removable when leaving the PRK. Second: Reduction of weight in the front is better than reduction at the rear. I own a PROOF Research barrel, and it is NOT lightweight. It is lighter than a barrel of the same profile, but it is still heavy AF. If I had it to do over again, I'd build with a Faxon Gunner barrel instead. The Ti gas block and muzzle device will be an even nicer addition to an already LW barrel. You mentioned that you may use this with some kind of suppressor in the future. If you do decide to get a PROOF barrel, make sure they know it will be used suppressed. That used to be an optional feature that they did a modification for. Not sure about the current builds. Reducing the weight of a stock to something like the Smoke Composite looks like you lose more than you gain. I went with the ACE ARFX on one rifle and a Magpul MOE fixed stock on another. Both are light enough and offer a myriad of options that the Smoke Comp doesn't.... Like sling attachment points!!! Pinning a carbine stock is ridiculously easy too. Magpul and MFT stocks can be pinned and unpinned with minimal effort in mere seconds.
  19. This is where my Asian harpist fingers have the advantage over people like Tom and their catchers mit paws lined with gnarled big toes. I have so much time invested in using the battery assist, I’d be on an entirely new learning curve with my thumb.
  20. I absolutely love ingenuity, and I encourage creativity… But why would I spend 80 bucks for something that does exactly what magpul, tactical link, and phase 5 have already perfected for less than $30???
  21. I hope they do a full documentary on this. I love this shit!
  22. The projectile isn’t steel as most people recognize steel. It is a polymetal, mixed with steel. Often the other metals included are tin and copper. The mixture is much softer than a pure iron based steel product. You can test your cartridges with a simple magnet to see if there is steel or not. Another issue with steel is the lacquer coating they put on the outside to preserve the metal. The lacquer coated cartridges were designed for the piston driven systems like the AK variants and all the HK and Steyr models. Our DI AR system dumps a lot of HOT gas inside the chamber. This isn’t an issue for standard brass casings. If you are an impatient shooter, the chamber can get hot enough to soften and possibly melt the lacquer. Cleaning it out isn’t an issue... but lacquer build up can cause loading/chambering issues until you can clean it out real well. My suggestion... FWIW... if you want to shoot a LOT of steel cases ammo... like thousands and thousands... build a dedicated, piston operated, firearm. The ammo isn’t accurate enough to waste a good barrel on. An inexpensive, but quality built, Faxon barrel will do absolutely everything.
  23. M80 or L2A2 are both NATO spec FMJ. They run about 145-150 grains, depending on the year they are manufactured. I have a shit ton of 147gr right now. You can shoot steel cased ammo fine. The mild steel case is not match for a quality built rifle. It’s the magnetic projectile you have to worry about... and even then, not so much. Shooting 10 steel rounds is about the same as shoot 15 standard rounds. It does reduce the barrel life faster than copper, but the money you save will MORE than replace your barrel. You’ll save about $50 per 1k rounds. A barrel life is normally about 6k-8k rounds (depending on how you shoot). A barrel that shoots only steel will be about 4.5k rounds... at which point you will have saved over $200 and should have budgeted for a new barrel.
  24. That’s one badass stick!! Don’t let anyone ever tell you different. If you’re looking for a nice lightweight 5-round magazine, call up midwestPX.com and ask about their “stubby” mags. I have a LR20 PMAG cut down to a flush 5-round mag. The fit and finish is beautiful. You would think it was a legit magazine. Having a flush fit mag is really nice when hunting. There’s no worry about high centering on the mag when tucking in deep. I often use my bipod more like skids than legs. It lets me stay really small.
