Just a small update here: I spent a quick afternoon with Jonathan, mom and dad. They were VERY appreciative of our efforts and aid. Jonathan is sitting up on his own now, and can stand for a short time, unassisted. His right arm is still unusable, but man is this kid a WARRIOR! He's getting his communication back slowly, but it's coming! You guys are absolutely the greatest group around. I'm proud to be counted among you.

I'm going to try to take the family this gift today. The total is $1,200. Suggestions... my original plan was to put it all on a prepaid VISA card. I could also do it in a pair of postal money orders??? what do you guys think is the best method? I'm open to any suggestions. I could even just hand them 12 crisp $100 bills. I'm mostly just interested in making sure the $ isn't taxed as income.

I had the AEP and SRT on my P220 Carry Elite. The very best shooter I could've ever owned. Probably on par with my Springfield TRP Operator. The worst mistake I ever made was selling that gun. I had a lapse in judgement, wanted a P227, and was low on $$$. Regrettably, I sold the P220 for the P227 Tacops, and hated it. Ended up selling the P227 and crying myself to sleep for weeks.

Careful now... My belief is in the Libertarian philosophy of "Voluntarism" where we, as free men, have the choice in what "welfare" cases we provide for/to. We more than have the ability to take care of our own. I should be able to pick and choose who I aid or where my money is spent. I don't need the Government to steal 1/3 of my paycheck every month so they can cover their debt. I have no responsibility to give my money to a crackhead family so they can raise their kids. Let the government raise them in a military school, and they can repay the government with prearranged years of service. If I find a case that I feel is in need of my help, then I will make the choice to help or ignore the situation. No one else should be able to choose on how much of a dick I decide to be. That's my free choice.

For my primary donation to this family, I have special gift that I get to give because the family and I are both state employees. They are applying for "catastrophic leave" which allows other state employees to donate time, so they can remain home with their family. I'm filing the paperwork to give them 40 hours of my vacation time. That'll give one of them one extra week at home with the kids. Im a huge proponent of this program, mainly because I believe it proves welfare is a failed system. The saying, "it takes a village..." rings all to true with me. When people come together we accomplish more than some stupid government program. This couple is so well liked, I estimate they'll likely get 400-500 hours donated.

I found out when I asked Mr Raley for help getting an Armalite .22lr upper. He practically screamed NO!!!

Armalite cancelled their dedicated .22lr uppers because the QC coming from CMMG was garbage and the returns were costing too much. Mr Raley confirmed their lack of quality too. Armalite was just rebranding the CMMG upper. None of their tech was invested in the upper (to the best of my knowledge).

Yeah, but it's always nice to brag about having a bigger house on the lot too.

Do you know what a 150gr Hornady .308 does to a skull at close range?! I do, and it's nothing short of a spiritual moment. (x2 Calif black bears, head shot at about 30 and 60 yards). Definitely encourages me to finish this dang AR pistol.
