  1. Awesome, man! All they have to do is engrave it the same way they put their own markings on it - that'll work out very well.
  2. Just build an AR pistol. Don't own a buttstock for it, until the stamp comes back. Have one of these two companies do the engraving for you: Orion Arms http://www.orion-arms.com/ Ident Marking Services http://identmarking.com/ Pick out/gather parts for your future SBR, get stuff inbound, but do not buy a carbine receiver extension or buttstock. We'll guide you along as it comes together. Build it as a pistol first, and let the paperwork run it's course. <thumbsup>
  3. Run it, man - that carrier is fine. <thumbsup>

    brand new joke

Sportbike, MaDuce. Not a car. This guy's "cameraman" - at two points in the vid - is going 270km/h and 290km/h, and the rider goes by him, in a wheelie, like he's sitting on the side of the road. That's every bit of 200+mph, right there.
  5. Keep 11.5" in mind, too. Works really well with the 10" rails out there. Bottom one, in this pic:
  6. When you buy an SBR, you use the manufacturers markings to fill out the ATF Form 4 (Application for Tax Paid Transfer and Registration of a Firearm) - afterall, the actual manufacturer is the "Manufacturer," in this case. You can't touch it until you get the tax stamp back - it sits in your dealer's safe. When you build your own SBR, YOU are the "Manufacturer," and you have to fill out the ATF Form 1 (Application to Make and Register a Firearm). You need to send the lower receiver (the "registered" part of the firearm) off for engraving with YOUR information on it, as you are the manufacturer, and that info needs to be listed on the Form 1. While you're waiting for the tax stamp to come back, you can legally have this firearm in a pistol configuration, and shoot it. When the tax stamp comes back approved, in your hands, you can then convert that pistol into a Short Barreled Rifle.
  7. I was gonna say that - NFA items across state lines requires prior approval. Which could take awhile. If you can get it, at all.
  8. ^^^ You need to repost the video of them bashing it into the corner of a cinderblock, reinstalling it, and shooting damn-near zero. That was effin' AWESOME!!! :hethan:
  9. EasyE, is there a reason you're hung on the 12.5"? Just curious...

    Sorry Bro

That 25 yard target was my 3rd mag through it - 5, 10, 25. Figured I'd run through the targets once, and realized on the 5 and 10 that something had to change. I never went back to the 25. I need to get back to it and see what happens, with the changes I made shooting the little fucker. I'll say this - it's a keeper, for sure. There's absolutely no doubt about that. <thumbsup>
  11. XDs45 parts from Powder River Precision. Extended mag release, extended grip safety, trigger spring kit.
  12. The Bennie Cooley brake is awesome. I've never shot the PRI, but there's not a thing they make that isn't completely DAMN great. I don't think you can go wrong, no matter what decision you make.

    Sorry Bro

I need to shoot it at the same range session with my 3" Kimber Ultra RCP II. Been awhile since I shot that one, but I think this XDs shoots better. <thumbsup>

    Sorry Bro

You nailed it, shepp. It's fantastic! I found out a few things with it, right away - like, in the first two 5rd mags. I set up targets at 5 yards, 10 yards and 25 yards, and put two boxes of 230 grain through it. No functional issues of any kind, no feed problems from the two mags it ships with it. Grip. This little guy is easy to hang onto, because of the deep grip treatment (XDM-type grip surfaces), but I had to adjust how I hold the thing. On my firing hand, I had my trigger finger out, nest two fingers around the grip, and the pinky under the magwell, wrapped under the mag - necessary - and thumb straight down the side. Non-firing hand required more tension, with tension on my thumb of my firing hand. non-firing thumb was straight out, to the end of the rail. Again, necessary. Trigger follow-through - mandatory on this little guy. Hold the trigger to the rear after firing. First two mags, I wasn't paying attention to follow-through, and this thing does do a little jumping. Without proper follow-through, the trigger safety starts eating up my trigger finger with a quickness. WITH proper follow-through, that all goes away, and it's an easy, easy shooter. Once I figured out what grip I needed, and got on the trigger, follow up shots are very quick, and right on target. It's not just like going out with a full-size and shooting - it took a little work initially, but it was very easy to figure out. I'll be keeping it for sure - in fact, I already have the PRP extended mag release, PRP extended safety, and PRP trigger spring kit on the way. Pics below: 1) 5yd target. You can see the initial shots - low left. Changing up grip brought them right where they needed to be, and the trigger follow-through tightened them up. 2) 10yd target - not bad, for a .45ACP with a 3.3 inch barrel. 3) 25yd target - only one 5-round mag at that distance - it gets them there, though. 4) Not sure what Tacti-Cat thinks of my targets - I can't read that expression well. I'm not sure if he's disappointed, pissed, pleased (only minorly pleased), or if he just thinks I suck for not taking him to the range...
  15. I know what you're thinking, brother - one of these badasses right here. http://www.ridgid.com/Tools/2048-OS-STORAGE-CHEST/EN/index.htm
  16. Dean, at Chosin Firearms in Huachuca City, AZ. He's my go-to FFL for everything. Great guy. <thumbsup>
  17. YES!!! We can figure out some lodging, because I'll already be there, brother. After I hit the airport Tuesday afternoon, I'm idle, until this festivity kicks off, then working in Phx on Thursday. <thumbsup>
  18. Yep, need to see what surfaces the nicks are at...
  19. Just as the title states - I'll be trying some of these, for damn sure! :))
  20. Yep.
  21. phantom, you're running almost 2,700 fps with a 165gr projectile - you've got them flying fast as hell. You're at the upper limits on the powder charge. Going up that 0.2 grains is enough to put you over the edge, in this case... You do have a high amount of gas pressure, at that combo.
  22. You can watch the whole thing here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKFNJYrBwPs
  23. Been more than two years now, since I pulled the Valentine's Day Pigeon Massacre at the shop. They had it coming...

    D'oh!!

Homeboy definitely didn't pass the breaching class...
  25. Carrier speed - cycling too fast. Extractor can't yank the old round out due to the speed, and the carrier is going so fast that it's over-running the next round in the mag, and not picking it up.
