Damn, that's a nice looking set. I like how they machined in a captured ejection port door pin, at it's back. That's some fine, fine attention to detail.

No kidding, huh? I have to fight back by trying to afflict someone else... <thumbsup> <laughs> The trigger kit and extended safety show up tomorrow. Tomorrow night will be fun. I might have to head out into the desert Saturday morning before work, instead of waiting until Sunday. That way, I'll know if I have to send this thing to Matt, sooner rather than later. I'm already watching a 5" XD45 Tactical. You know, in case this thing actually works out. I have a two-tone paint scheme for it already layed out. Cerakote Patriot Brown, plus some Cerakote Magpul FDE. I'll try to dig up a pic. Trying to decide on how to flip the colors - light on top, dark on bottom, or the other way. Like this, below...

The STR fuckin' rocks, man. <thumbsup> First one I've used, on this one - great, great buttstock.

You guys are getting all wrapped around the axle about your BCG having serrations or not. Forward Assist works on 308 ARs, regardless of serrations, no serrations, whatever. Here's what I put up on the previous page:

All over the news today. US Navy Reservist, LAPD LEO. Fired in 2008 or 2009. He's going after the crooked cops that he turned in (what led to his firing). Interesting, yet disturbing, poop. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/02/07/suspect-identified-in-deaths-cal-state-coach-fiance/ He published a pretty length manifesto to Facebook, before he took off on the murder mission. The whole thing is right here: http://www.foxnews.com/us/interactive/2013/02/07/ex-lapd-officer-christopher-jordan-dorner-manifesto/

I hate to go there, but... :wwop:

Is that sexual? That worked on Heather?... <dontknow> <lmao>

I'll call his office in the morning, and ask about this. <thumbsup>

Jon, did I not tell you about that one?... <munch>

It's in the DNA, brother. We can't fight that, not even a little. I have 10 motorcycles/quads, with #11 on the way in a couple weeks. ONE is bone stock. ONE! Damn 1995 Suzuki DR350. It's the perfect bike, unmodified. Modding poop is a sickness/affliction/addiction/passion. We can't help it, those of us that have the disease... :o :cookoo: It's just poop that keeps happening, in the grand scheme of things. Don't fight it, brother... <laughs> AHA!!! I found threaded XD barrels! :hethan: http://www.pistolgear.com/proddetail.php?prod=00PG055 Jon... thanks ALOT for the link to pistolgear. Really. :fawkdance: Like I needed that. Matt... I'm thinking more and more about it. I'm thinking you're right. You might have a box delivered soon... <dontknow> Just sign for it, brother. :(

Damn, that's not even fair... :o <laughs>

If you want the gasblock exposed, at the front of the handguard, then it's simple - rifle length gas, rifle length handguard. Midlength gas, midlength handguard. Carbine gas, carbine handguard.

Good find. <thumbsup>

New to me Ar-10 and a few questions
98Z5V replied to waterboy_75's topic in AR-10 General, Technical Discussion
You're mixing up the A and B models, the ones that take aftermarket mags and the ones that only take Armalite mags... ... with a rifle model. It's an AR-10A2, because it's an A2 configured rifle (major feature, A2). Carry handle upper, non-removeable carry handle. That's an "A2," like the M16A2. -
Which/best Flip up sights???? HELP
98Z5V replied to SGT45's topic in AR-10 General, Technical Discussion
Incorrect statement. December 17th was THE day that the poop hit the fan in the firearms community. THE day. Everyone in the industry had a bad day that day, and it hasn't slowed down by even one mile per hour, since. By December 18th, almost every single AR mag in the country was sold, parts all over were out of stock, complete rifles were hard to find, ammo was gone, reloading components were in very, very short supply - the day after you are quoting. The morning of December 14th was when the heinous act went down at Sandy Hook. Friday. Saturday and Sunday, firearms enthusiasts all over this country were already ahead of you, and your department. Buying. The morning of December 17th, Monday morning, first Obummer is on national tv giving his "ban" speech, quickly followed by Fukstein saying she's already got the "new ban" written, and had been working on it HARD for the last year. You've been trying to get ahold of them since December 17th. You were behind the power curve, and I don't mean that in a bad way, or as an insult. Everyone in the country that was on the fence about an Armalite, was trying to get ahold of them on December 17th. You need to understand that timeline. It was not before the Sandy Hook backlash, and it was not before the Obummer announcement. Very, very smart people in this country were burning up the online sales, starting Friday, and going into Saturday and Sunday. People that are employed at these firearms companies came to work Monday morning, looked at all that had sold over the weekend, and simply said to themselves, "Holy SHIIIIT!!!," just knowing the shipping situation they were now in. That's what happened. -
They have that round ^^^ in two flavors: Loaded with BBs, and loaded with a combo of #2/#4 shot. Watch the box labels, if you're actually out looking for some. <thumbsup>
-
Matt, I might take you up on that, just to save my meager financial future. We'll see what happens on the range Sunday morning, with that new trigger. <thumbsup>
-
I've got 20 Lancer L5 AWM mags - they're damn good. <thumbsup>

Jon, I had to go with Springer Precision on the trigger kit. They're the only ones doing a kit for the XD with thumb safefy. I was checking them out, as well as Powder River, trying to make up my mind. PRP had nothing for the thumb safety model, so that made my mind up for me. The trigger kit and extended mag release will be here Friday, so it'll be in the pistol Friday night, then shot Sunday morning. I also picked up two Arredondo extended magazine baseplates, but they hit the "backorder" status on me. They be here in another two weeks. That will make the two spare 13rd mags into two spare 15rd mags. <thumbsup> After this will be a couple internal upgrades, tritium sights, then a blast with some paint. The sights will go on after paint. Maybe a barrel. These things are ridiculous. :o <laughs> Ron, here are some of the barrel options: http://shop.springerprecision.com/category.sc;jsessionid=8A752CBA64067CDAA15A0186FA6C0669.qscstrfrnt06?categoryId=34

Is that $225 for a bolt, or $225 for a complete BCG?
-
I'm running one on the AR45, but not on a .308 AR. You need to "modify" the internal heatshield to clear the 308s. Tin snips do the trick. They attach/mount via the standard AR handguard way - Delta ring setup at the receiver end, and handguard endcap at the muzzle end. It's made for the round handguard cap, and the triangle cap (both), so it doesn't matter which handguard cap you get.
-
That's a pretty solid attachment system - impressive, actually. If that barrel nut would have been properly torqued from the factory, there's no way it would loosen up on it's own (without taking out the gas tube). I like that design. <thumbsup>

Memorial For Chris Kyle in Dallas TX
98Z5V replied to Moby's topic in Firearm Industry News and Gossip
The magnitude of his heroism will be ignored, or unknown, by most self-absorbed Americans. What he has done for this country can never be measured, nor repayed to him. God Speed, Warrior - you are appreciated. -
Fuuuuuuuuuck, I just spent too much money. :o When this is all said and done, besides gun mods, I'll be carrying 44 rounds of .45ACP. What the hell do I need that for, really? :cookoo: Updates soon.
-
There's no need for that, man. Get in here and raise some hell. <thumbsup>
