  1. You have a pinned barrel that also has set-screw flats machined into it? EDIT - On a standard DPMS-shipped rifle? You need to look at that thing closely... DPMS doesn't machine flats into standard barrels.
  2. ^^^ I'm down with that - I've been trying to take over the world for a damn long time now... <dontknow> <lmao> Pinky and the Brain are my idols. ;D
  3. I'm a big advocate of that one - running it on the AR-45 and Pinky. The GG&G is also a flawless unit, if you need something that flips down out of the way. The YHM is right there with the GG&G. <thumbsup>
  4. It's still not an XDs, though. I'm just sayin'... <dontknow> <lmao> <laughs> <munch>
  5. Not my pic, but here's a NM gas tube with a regular gas tube in the pic, too. Both rifle length.
  6. ^^^ That would work, like a fuckin' champ. <thumbsup> EDIT - If you pick up a National Match gas tube, you'd only need one other regular gas tube. <thumbsup> <thumbsup> One connection, one sleeve, and only one place to look if it's leaking gas.
  7. There's a big difference between stripping copper jacket, which fills imperfections in a barrel, and having excessive carbon buildup. Two different kinds of barrel fouling there. I won't be using any copper removal chemicals in my barrel before I apply this stuff, but I will make sure it's 100% carbon free.
  8. The barrel index pin doesn't go into the barrel - or, it shouldn't. It doesn't touch the barrel, and is only drilled into the extension itself. It's only there to index the barrel assembly into the upper. The barrel extension is torqued on the barrel at 180lb/ft, so if you've got a muzzle device that's torqued on the barrel beyond that, then it's already stripped it's threads on the barrel, or the muzzle device. The only way I can imagine breaking the barrel free from it's extension is by trying to unscrew a muzzle device that's been pinned/welded, or by breaking free a barrel extension that wasn't properly torqued in the first place.
  9. If you decide to make one, there are two criteria you have to meet: 1) it needs to be 303 stainless tubing, of the correct ID and OD. 2) you need to find a way to flare the end that meets the gas key on top of the bolt carrier.
  10. If you go the set screw method, you have to machine barrel flats into the barrel. Pic below.
  11. They had 15 last night. They have 7 left tonight... I'm just sayin'... <dontknow>
  12. Gonna be tough, Matt - it would be something made for a special gasblock, with a higher-than-normal gas port inlet on it. I know the DPMS SASS gasblock is a little different (and I think it's a higher gas port on the block, due to barrel thickness). Like Drew said, stainless is a bitch to drill, and small diameter stainless sucks even more. I don't think copper would stand up to the task. Do you have any diagrams of what you're planning to do, Matt? That would help. You might be able to get away with a National Match gas tube - they're different than standard gas tube, because they have to clear the internal free float tube. I haev one of those that I could get pics of. Hell, I think I already have pics of it somewhere, next to a standard gas tube. Rifle-length on both pieces.
  13. No poop - too funny! :threadjack:
  14. Nope.
  15. Two new colors from MagPul - Stealth Grey, and Pink. Eventually, the entire product line will get Stealth Grey, but the Pink is limited.
  16. Damn. I thought I had ya, with the whole "get out of the doghouse" scheme... <dontknow> <lmao> <laughs>
  17. Yep - big news when they released it, due to the common things you can and can't do with an "AR Pistol." Due to the lengths of components used, and overall length, it's not a pistol. Nor a rifle. If that wasn't the exact size it really is, then it'd be a pistol, and you can't have a forward vertical grip on a pistol.
  18. Heather has been wanting one of those. She can shoot the hell out of it, and did so in October here. <thumbsup>
  19. Savage FV-SR on sale for $217 delivered... I'm just sayin'... <dontknow> <thumbsup> http://www.class3weapons.com/SAV_28702_MKIIFVSR_22LR_THREADED_BBL_p/71899.htm
  20. Interesting - haven't heard of it before now. Need to research now... <laughs> EDIT - Just did a short search on it, and I read enough to convince me to try it. <thumbsup>
  21. Don't you mean batshit crazy?... <lmao> <dontknow>
  22. ss, that is FANTASTIC! Awesome, man!!! ;D <thumbsup>
  23. Hell yeah - .45 caliber headache... <lmao>
  24. Outta stock with those guys, brother! I'm searching all over for this thing... :o
  25. Pretty damn hard to find, brother, or I'd already have one on the way. I can make it FDE, too. <laughs> I have a line on one of the 12" versions. Waiting to hear back. <thumbsup>
