Freedom Group, a gunmaker ripe for an ethical takeover
98Z5V replied to imschur's topic in Firearm Industry News and Gossip
Just the fact that it's for sale, with all it encompasses - that's a game changer, waiting to happen... It can go good... or very, very bad for us... :-[ -
Mike, if you're going to run it on a 5.56 gun, then... Will you ever use night vision? If not, get a 512 basic model. If you might be into night vision in the future, get one of the 550 series. Now, with a 512, with 1-moa center dot, run a 25-300 zero, aim low on 50s, and you're pretty much right there on everything else. Slight holdover on a 400, it's great. So, basically, 25 to 400, with minimal sight changes. Anything, really, from 50 and in, you just use the large 65-moa circle - if it's in that circle, and in that range, it's probably leaking after you pull the trigger... ;D If you want to try one out, I'd send you mine. Shoot it, see if you like it. It's painted FDE, so that might turn into a whole other corruption - you need to be aware of that up front... <lmao>

I'll call you in the next couple days, Roger - lots to talk about. ;D I may need quite a few selector sets... WAY bigger than some of my past orders, and some of those were pretty sizeable... :o <laughs> -
The simple fact that the stupid bitch called it the "Federal Firearms Act" tells you she doesn't know what the fukk she's talking about. For HER to be so deeply involved in this, for SO long, she's fucking clueless... Sheeple follow her. That's the bottom line. No one with opposing information is taking this on, and on that fact, we - WE - will lose. It comes down to that.
-
Effective range depends on the one you buy, brother. It's a 65moa large circle with a 1moa center dot - it's by far my favorite optic to use for longer distances, over the Aimpoint. Smallest dot on any Aimpoint is 2moa. Some EOTechs have a BDC built in, and they're very well worth it. There were a couple threads on the red dots that went into MUCH detail - find those, and it'll definitely help you make a decision. <thumbsup>

You need to start talking to manufacturers, and getting on their waiting lists - most manufacturers sell to the public, but the price isn't at a discount - you pay MSRP. That may be your best bet, in these times.

poop. My "May of 2010" selector is out of spec... <laughs> <lmao> I'll be calling to complain, and order about 10 more lever sets. <dontknow> <thumbsup> I'll take all the 45-degree centers you have in inventory, just so others don't have issues. I know you've been getting messages about those things, but if they're coming from guys on this board - those fellas are "suspect... " :o -
Psssshhhhh.... I'll sell ya a couple different things that'll haul your ass at 186... You can even pick your color. <thumbsup> <laughs>

That old 14.5" is a tough gun to follow, brother - billet upper and lower, ambi lower controls, DD Mk18 RIS II rail, S3G trigger - that's a bad sum'bitch of a gun. This one will be close, but I don't know if it'll replace or overtake that other one. <dontknow>
-
That's been going on since the late 80's. I served with some Bloods and Crips at Fort Ord, CA, in 7th Infantry Division (Light). When 7th ID moved one brigade up to Fort Lewis, WA in 1992/1993, they moved gang-bangers with 'em. No poop. That part isn't new. :(

That's also the new Mega setup on the MKM - I'm just sayin'... <laughs>

"Crack" for TactiCat is... toilet paper. Fuk me if I forget and leave a roll out. It's decimated, and all over the place when I come home... :o <laughs> He's fond of any kind of bubble-wrap in packages, too... Mangled. <lmao>

I didn't have an SR Gold fit issue in the .308 AR - BAD ASS and trigger work as designed, in a factory DPMS lower receiver. Are the issues in different receivers? -
He's 2 now, and a freak of nature - I can't open a gun case without him jumping in. Anytime I get something firearms-related out, he's on it - like, ON it. If he had thumbs, he'd be my assistant gunner... <laughs> He has two others here - twins from the same litter, and they're 9 now. And female. He terrorizes them, relentlessly... <lmao>

Done. Well, minus paint, and the proper VLTOR light mount - I was shipped the wrong diameter mount, but I'll keep the one I received. Rifle details: * Aero Precision stripped upper and lower * KNS precision ground pin set * Armalite springs, throughout * ALG ACT trigger * BCM 14.5" midlength gas standard barrel * BCM BCG, BCM Gunfighter charging handle (large latch) * Geissele 13" Super Modular Rail, MK2 (the original rifle specs the MK1 rail, 10"-ish) * Roger's BAD-ASS, of course * Troy flip-up sights, with the HK-type hooded front * AAC BrakeOut 51t suppressor mount fh/brake combo * DD MK12 gas block, with Armalite midlength gas tube * MagPul STR stock, MOE rubberized grip, and polymer trigger guard, milspec 6-position receiver extension, Armalite buffer spring and Armalite carbine buffer * Lancer L5 AWM mags, out the ass. 20 of them, 10 black and 10 smoke translucent. * Currently a VLTOR/ADM combo quick detach offset light mount with a SureFire C2 Centurion light. It will be the VLTOR/ADM combo quick detach light mount with a SureFire E2 LED light, when I get the proper light mount. Only thing I still need is the Cerakote grey paint, and the light mount. I switched up a few things from the original rifle, based on personal preference - I like the STR stock over the B5 stock. I like the MOE rubber grip, alot. I'll always run SureFire lights, and I love VLTOR light mounts. I went with the 13" rail for a couple reasons - primarily, more handguard length, and secondary - the 10" isn't even close to being in stock right now. Other than that, this is the same quality rifle that the Jack is. <thumbsup> TactiCat got his furry ass into the pics... Battle Arms Develpment BAD-DBM

The Ruger GSR polymer mags fit in the bottom metal, but won't cycle ammunition. The Ruger GSR steel magazine fits and runs like a champ - That's the AI-patterned Accurate Mag. Works flawlessly. Any short-action magazine (in round count, 5, 10, whatever) from Accuracy International or Accurate Mag (on the AI pattern) will work in this bottom metal setup. -

Not trying to teach anything - trying to find out if you have a shooting style that would make that grip angle beneficial, or not. Sounds like you'll like it - enjoy. <thumbsup> -
You can try giving Young Manufacturing a shout, and see what their outlook is. 623-915-3889.

Merry Christmas everyone.

45 - top; 50 - below. Roger, it impresses me to no end that you'll modify your product, in order to have a working unit for systems out there that are not like others. Could be out of spec issues, design issues (not following standard designs), anything - you strive to make a product perfect for everybody, and some are doing things different. It's very impressive that you go to the steps that you do. You're one hell of a great person, and I'm fortunate to know you. <thumbsup> -
