IMHO, that is a theory that holds no weight. If you are armed, and you open carry, then you are definitely exercising your 2A rights - "use it or lose it" is no joke, as we are seeing, right now. If more people would open carry, and more places allowed open carry, crime in this country would plummet. If you carry a firearm, you better know how to use it. Attending some class once, or shooting until you feel comfortable with your weapon - that's not enough. You need to constantly train. Constantly. When you stop training, you stop learning. Your skills start to weaken the moment you stop training, and in some things, that decline starts happening daily. I have ZERO fear of some shithead taking my own firearm from me, unless I'm out of ammo, and pretty physically incapacitated. I have ZERO fear of MULTIPLE SHITHEADS taking my firearms from me - unless I'm out of ammo, and pretty physically incapacitated. "If I'm out of ammo" still doesn't mean they can take it from me, also. That involves continual training in more than one aspect. The whole notion of "if I open carry, I'm a target" holds no weight. The proper mentality, which you should be able to back up, is "If I open carry, I will be an anti-target, and shitbags will definitely avoid me..." That's my humble opinion, take no personal offense, as that's not the way it's intended...

Well, I think this whole thing was smoke and mirrors - Jon and I were talking about this yesterday. A couple days before the Fiscal Cliff BS, the announcement of their pay raise hit the public - right in the eye. So, more talks, politicians trying to solve the money and tax problems, and some of them need "a compromise." What, exactly, was compromised? "Agree to stop the pay raise, and we'll agree to the tax-solution proposal..." Smoke and mirrors. NOTHING was really compromised, was it? "If we say we'll give them a pay raise, we can use that as a target - to give up - to get what we want..." Fucking worked, too. Also, they were supposed to solve the tax problem, AND the deficit (spending) problem. The tax problem looks good on paper, but is bullpoopy in reality, AND they didn't do poop with the deficit (spending) problem. Nothing. We have a Deficit problem in this country - a Deficit in Leadership.

Just thought about something - hope you check back in here before you silver-solder everything. The .308s are not AR-15s. Some .308s take a screw pin for the bolt catch, whereas AR-15s are almost always the same - SOME AR-15s take screw pins. If you're trying to use an AR-15 roll pin on a Big AR, check what you have first. If that Black Rain lower takes a screw pin, then that's what you need to use...

Definite DPMS LR-308 pattern, right there. A standard .308 AR lower parts kit should fit that no problem.

Option 2 - removed the catch, silver-solder the hole closed, drill up to the appropriate size.

Shim it. Measure the differences - OD on the pin, ID on the hole. Cut up a soda can and use the thin-ass aluminum as a shim.
