  1. D'oh! :o I like it. <thumbsup> You're making them in FDE, also, right?... <munch>
  2. That's strange, because when I buy stripped lower receivers (frequently), they don't ship that poop TO ME overnight... <dontknow> >:(
  3. Direct contact would be your best bet, but a phone call - talking to a human - would probably be the better option, before email. It's hard to verbally talk to someone and skirt an issue, but it's really easy to "talk around something" in email. If I was spending that amount of money on an upper and lower, I'd want to know who I talked to, what time/date I talked to them, and what they said. Not being paranoid here, but that's no small chunk of change. Hell, if I was local, I'd drive there and talk to them face to face, prior to. <dontknow>
  4. Yes, the buffer retainer can definitely cause a no-fire once it comes loose and gets hung up in the trigger group. Definitely, it can cause a no-fire. You installed a single point attachment. When you removed the receiver extension to put that sling plate on, I'd betting that the receiver extension needed one more turn when you put it back on. That's enough, right there, to let the buffer retainer loose (one turn less than needed). I don't have pics, I haven't seen the mod of the single point adapter, but I'm betting that's what it is - it has happened to me. With one particular brand of AR-15 lower I built, I thought I had it right, and this exact thing happened on the range - mangled the poop out of the spring, too. I'd already built two others, already - sure enough, I checked them, and the receiver extensions needed one more turn. Now, when I build, I'll screw that receiver extension in until it won't turn anymore - it contacts the buffer retainer. From that point, I'll back it out just enough until it's lined up to mount the stock. FWIW, this can't happen with rifle stocks and rifle receiver extensions, only collapsible stocks and their receiver extensions.
  5. You're honestly not that far from a world class shooting facility, and you can be a part of it, all the way out to 1,000 yards. Quantico. For you, it would be worth the drive (definitely NOT during rush hour...). I was in Prince William Co - Woodbridge, to be exact. You should look into the Quantico Rod and Gun Club. http://www.qrgc.org/ Might take you awhile to get in, unless you've got some MIL in your background. Club composition must be at least 1/3 MIL, and up to 2/3 civilian. The more MIL that join, the more slots for CIVs that open up. It's a ratio-thing.
  6. Brother Shaggy rockin' the PINK CRICKET!!! I LOVE IT!!! <thumbsup> <laughs>
  7. Sorry, brother - that is not quite the same. Working for the Army as a DA Civ isn't being in the Army. That's part of the team, yes. It's not Military. GS's have their role, and they're needed, but they're not Soldiers. Don't take offense.
  8. DA Civilian?...
  9. No way, man - She had WAY MORE roast beef... <laughs>
  10. That would be fully 1/2 the bounty... ;D
  11. Still no pics?!... <dontknow> :o
  12. You owe it to yourself. You deserve a quality setup like that for such a fine weapon. Treat yourself, buddy. <thumbsup> That combo together is about 1/3 of what you talked me into a few minutes ago, so I figure you had it coming... <lmao> You know you're saying to yourself right now, "Hmmm, $270 really isn't that bad for that setup..." <laughs>
  13. You can keep the rig "All LaRue" with this little beauty: http://www.laruetactical.com/remington-700-rail You're welcome... <munch> <lmao>
  14. The one with the 20 MOA built into it, silly man... <lmao> EDIT - I was being bad again... Seekins or LaRue. Neither can be bad thing.
  15. Receiver Pic rail with 20 MOA built into it, then these QD rings: LaRue Ultra Low Mounts. I'm just sayin'... <munch>

    Curses!

I think all he needs is a reliable internet connection, at this point. :o
  17. Powdercoat is strong stuff. I get alot of that in the powersports arena. It does add thickness, no matter what, so just make sure that whoever does the work for you does some good taping first. You won't want that stuff on any precision-fit areas. Tape the holes the the FCG pins, the safety, the magwell, etc. If not, you'll be doing alot of "after" work to get the lower and upper together.

    Curses!

No, guys - he's the one that won the Christmas pic contest! He GETS the money!... <lmao>
  19. Even 30 or 40-thou seems like a hell of alot to me - I have no, read: zero, experience recontouring a barrel, too. I bore motorcycle cylinders. On those, even if I was immediately going to a large overbore, I only make cuts somewhere between 0.002~0.005" at a time. It's never over 2-thou once the sleeve starts getting thin, too... Just a difference in applications, and an observance on my part. I'd suck at recontouring barrels, because it would take me forever, trying to do what I do with cylinder boring... <lmao>
  20. The Troy MRF-308 is 13.8" long, and JUST covers a short lo-pro gas block. The end of the rail is the exact same length as the PRI lo-pro gas block I have - they're flush with each other. <thumbsup>
  21. Based on that info, man, you could literally Google "AR-15 .750 gas block," and anything you find will work on your rifle. Only two things gas block-related) would need to be considered: 1. is the gas block I'm looking at going to fit under my freefloat rail/handguard? (if you're going that route), and 2. What gas tube am I going to need for this barrel? 2nd question I put up there, just because I have no idea what gas system lengths RRA uses on their .308s. I'm not sure if they're some proprietary, weird length or not - that's definitely something to research. <thumbsup>
  22. Published December 29, 2011 | Associated Press WASHINGTON – The District of Columbia has been ordered to pay more than $1 million in attorneys' fees as a result of a historic gun case that was ultimately decided by the U.S. Supreme Court. Dick Heller sued the city in 2003 over its ban on handgun ownership and the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the ban in June 2008, saying it violated the Second Amendment. A federal judge on Thursday issued an opinion awarding Heller's attorneys $1,137,072.27 in fees and expenses. The attorneys had argued they should be awarded $3.1 million. Attorneys for the city said the figure should be closer to $840,000. A spokesman for the D.C. Office of the Attorney General said city lawyers were studying the opinion. A telephone message left for Heller's lead lawyer, Alan Gura, wasn't immediately returned. The judge's opinion awards Gura approximately $662,000 for more than 1,500 hours of work on the case, paying him at a rate of $420 per hour. Five other members of Heller's team are also compensated. After the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in 2008, the city rewrote its gun laws and for the first time in more than 30 years permitted handgun ownership. The new laws, however, include numerous registration requirements. Those requirements prompted Heller to sue again, saying that the new laws are too restrictive. That case is still pending, with a federal appeals court ruling in October that the city must provide evidence justifying what it called "novel" handgun registration requirements including vision tests. The city is considering changes to the law that, if implemented, could impact the case. 23. Arch, sorry I came across as getting on you about that, last night - I only meant to correct the terminology, but I didn't do that very politely. My apologies for stating it the way I did, man. <thumbsup>
  24. Exactly - don't get down on the LEOs for what they ARE allowed to own - get after the state government that creates the dumbass laws that restrict the civilians so much. I still hold the opinion that the LEOs need to be armed, greatly, when off duty - in that crazyass state, they're certainly targets. It's sad how there's such little respect for law enforcement anymore - some of the BS that people actually say to police when they're pulled over (not talking about this discussion, in the least...). Worse yet, the disregard for the law, when some freak jumps out of a car and starts shooting at them. The frequency that this happens nowadays is mind boggling.
