Update on this, for more information. I ended up picking up a wood set from Precision Firearms. http://www.precisionfirearms.com/ The pistol grip and buttstock will certainly fit on the AR-10, or other .308 ARs. As far as the forearm goes, it depends on that is "stock" on your particular rifle. If what you have runs standard A1 or A2 handguards from an AR-15, then it'll work. Likewise, if you're running standard M4 carbine hanquards, then the carbine wood handguards would work. For freefloating the wood hanguards - as of right now, Mark (@ Precision Firearms) is working on setting up a set of handguards that will work with a National Match-type freefloat sleeve. The current version of the rifle handguards will not work with a NM freefloat sleeve, not it's required NM gas tube. As soon as the freefloat hadguards are released, I'll get a quick review of them up. That's exactly why the extra $100 wasn't that big of a deal, considering. I didn't want to take my chances with the Type III hardcoating - better to keep that stuff to the guy that's already been doing it to those lowers. He already knows the tough spots on it to have to inspect, etc. Spending the $100 to have someone finish the machining, plus the annodizing was a pretty easy choice. <thumbsup>

Yep, it'll be the CNC lower, for sure. That piece is almost too nice to be used as a firearm. I thought about just getting the 80% and finishing it myself (never done one, but wanted to). I'm economically further ahead to just buy the completed lower from him. <thumbsup> I'm on the hunt for the M3 grease gun mags as we speak.

There's nothing out there that can compare to the 45 degree. I wish I had that on all my issue ARs, in the past. It's so much easier and faster to engage and disengage the safety - almost thoughtless. Just a quick flip. Roger, is there a way to get the 45 degree centers, alone? I'd convert all the ones I have now to them, without hesitation. If this is something that shouldn't be asked publicly, I'll take it down with a quickness. <thumbsup>

Look for a small c-clip on the rod. That's an AR-15 thing, and it might be on yours.

I agree with Robo 110%. My previous opinion was based on alot of things, most of which were unstated - I just stated my opinion, without any qualifying reasons why I feel that way. 1st. One of my very best friends is a retired ICE agent. We hung around all the time before I retired from the Army, and when I moved back to AZ last year, we're right back at it. He's finally retired now. Well, when he's just out and about, he still has to do his duty - duty that he made a career of. We're 12 miles north of Mexico. Illegals are everywhere, here. poop, we might be out in the desert, shooting, and if we run up on something, he still has to respond - that's what he's dedicated to. The illegals don't know he's retired, but that doesn't matter. They see someone armed, with a Border Patrol hat on, and they ALTO. Right now. Then, he's stuck with detaining them until the phone calls are made, and active agents show up to take custody of the fuc "Undocumented Immigrants" - UDIs. LEOs definitely DO deserve more leniency. I'm retired Army - I don't deserve it, but my job was protecting outside the US borders. Not inside the US borders. Those that are here inside these borders, protecting all of us - they deserve it. Kalifornia's stupid laws are another story. Their restrictions on their citizens are ridiculous. Don't hold that against their LEOs.

There's not too much on the web about this - I think alot of people are trying to keep this quiet. As of yesterday, and the day before, when you'd Google it up, there were only TWO hits. It's been kept under wraps pretty well. This was the very first announcement of it: Big shakeup at AAC I’m getting credible reports that Kevin Brittingham was escorted from the premises of Advanced Armament Corporation this morning. I’m told Freedom Group reps and lawyers were on hand with security guards to lead AAC’s founder out of the building. John Day from Freedom Group is rumored to be the interim president of AAC. The firing comes as Brittingham is reportedly only partway through the contract he signed when he sold AAC to Freedom Group back in 2009. I don’t think this will end quietly or easily for Remington or their parent company the Freedom Group. DONE!!! <thumbsup> I'm going to try to shoot it in the morning, before work. AR in .45 ACP. It's a 16" barrel with carbine handguards, as it comes from Olympic Arms. I had the rifle length MOE and the Armalite clamp-on front sight base two days ago. When this sucker got delivered this morning, I beat the pins out of the front sight base and removed it and the carbine handguards. 10 minutes later, it had the other stuff on it, and the A1 front sight post, detent and spring crossed over. Eventually, maybe January at the soonest, it'll have a dedicated .45 ACP lower that runs on the old M3 grease gun mags. <thumbsup> WooHoo!!! ;D

This is so much easier than you think, brother - all you have to do with the parts in the pic below is add a complete lower. California Cop, in any capacity = target by many crazy, or just plain bad, people for all kinds of reasons. They deserve the lattitude that they get for firearms, and probably need them. From a December 2002 letter: "The more than 100,000 professional peace officers serving with you in California urge you to become a "hero" by supporting this most worthwhile project." California Peace Officers Association So, the number has probably grown overall, but comparing figures: Less than 10% of the California Police populace owns firearms that "normal" Californians aren't permitted to own. No big deal, IMHO. <dontknow>

Doesn't the Mega setup capture the rod, at the back? Blind hole, and the rod stops in there, when inserting it from the front? If that's the case, the only way will be removing the handguard, and probably the barrel nut, too - then sliding it out towards the front.
