  1. This, right here, actually led down the (short) road to another build - iron sights on a 20" rifle build, but a little different - basically, a National Match 20" rifle, but wood furniture. It turned out SWEET! <thumbsup> http://308ar.com/forum/black-rifles/re-swfabobro-scope-mount-review/
  2. DPMS is not an AR-10. Fix your thread title, by editing your post. Hate to be a stickler, but that's one big detail that matters. It's just not an Armalite AR-10, which would be the only "AR-10."

    Hiya

Bull. I'm VERY happily divorced, so I'll take this job. <lmao> Welcome aboard, man. <thumbsup>
  4. That's a great way to look at it - happy to have you here. Welcome! <thumbsup>
  5. Personally, I'm pretty damn happy that you're here now, Clint - please stick around, man. <thumbsup>
  6. That just means it's functional under hand pressure - which it should be, for a new gun. That doesn't necessarily mean it functions fine when fired. That test just means "it's not completely screwed," but a serious problem with the extractor would have shown, with that. You could still have an extractor issue here. Try the gun lube first, instead of motor oil, and see where that gets you. Might solve everything. Fire up some results of what happens next. I was kinda hoping the casing would pop out, too - make this easy. <dontknow> <laughs>
  7. Haha! Awesome! <thumbsup> ;D
  8. We've needed you here for awhile, Slash - glad you showed up. <thumbsup> I like the Woody Hayes avatar better, man. ;D
  9. This almost looks like an extractor issue - the extractor is failing to hang into the spent casing, and the ejector is popping it loose before it fully clears the chamber, or clears the ejection port opening. Since it doesn't happen every time, and some rounds are clearing, the ejector is working - see if that thing had some stout spring pressure by trying to push it in with a spent case. You can also see if it's sticking in position the same way. Remove the BCG from the rifle, hook the rim of a spent case into the extractor, and press it "straight" onto te bolt face to depress the ejector. Hit that a few times to see if there's any hangups with the ejector, or if the case rim slips off the exrtactor.
  10. When you get the FTEs, is the empty case still stuck to the bolt face, or is it just laying in the chamber? You may need to test this with only one round in the magazine. Ensure that the bolt is locking to the rear, but see where the empty case goes.
  11. What's listed is a good price. Not the best, but good.
  12. What exactly are you looking to replace? All the furniture, or just one or two things? Welcome. <thumbsup>
  13. It's the VooDoo double rifle case in 36". Saw that up there last time I went through, but didn't pick it up then. Damn nice case.
  14. Before you make a decision, I would definitely go down to the For Sale section, and look at the MA-TEN Group Buy thread. Get that price first, before you decide on this set right here. <thumbsup>
  15. In Phoenix right now, and I'll be passing back through there sometime later on Tuesday - late afternoon or early evening. <thumbsup> I'll definitely give you a shout. I'm going to try to time my trip so I can hit Sportsman's Warehouse before they close. They have a soft case I'm after, and I have Christmas money burning a hole in my pocket... <laughs>
  16. I haven't, either - that's just the stuff available for the 15s, and those parts are the same (different sizes that will come up in a search for him). That would be a lightweight .308 barrel... <thumbsup>
  17. Pics, man. It's not really a site rule, but more like a "protocol." Don't turn into a Matt Cross on us... <lmao>
  18. Man, how long does he really need to snap a few pics, then attach 'em?! <dontknow> It's been hours now... I guess "hours" is a small drop in the bucket, since we've been waiting MONTHS now... :o <lmao> I knew I should have gotten him a watch for Christmas. Maybe a calendar would have been more appropriate... <laughs>
  19. They should be standard. Four sizes pretty much cover the entire industry: .625" // .750" // .875" // .936"
  20. I'm not even going to explain it - this information is invaluable for shooting. If you start this for every new rifle, you'll be very far ahead of the power curve. You'll need to read through the whole document to understand what I'm saying. https://www.tacticalgearsuperstore.com/Rifle%20Log%20book_FINALebook.pdf Download it before it's gone... <thumbsup>
  21. Oh, NOW this shiite works... <lmao>
  22. Drew, here's where your link is taking me, and all I see. Notice the pic title... <dontknow> <laughs>
  23. Well, THAT didn't happen. Crazy around here on X-Mas Eve Morning... :o Not even the slimmest chance of getting out to the range this morning. I'll update the initial shoot-in pretty soon. Targets posted, of course. <thumbsup> As kind of a consolation, I did break down the BCG and get some pics. Olympic Arms is doing some very interesting stuff now, compared to what they've done in the past. I have an old 9mm BCG complete from them, from the old days, and what they're doing now (and I don't know for how long, "now" is...) - it's pretty different... I have no manufacture date on that old 9mm BCG, so I have no idea when these changes were made. Overall pic of the disassembled BCG: Standard AR-15 firing pin, but it's sprung - this is one HEAVY spring, too! The cam pin hole is simply bored to size - the bolt doesn't rotate anyway, and there are no locking lugs for the bolt or barrel extension, so this makes perfect sense. The old ones were built on standard carriers, and it was a typical cam pin hole, rotating. Not now. Also, since it's blowback operated, it doesn't need a gas key, but there a chunk there, with bolts - I think this is there for carrier weight. Old ones had a complete gas key in place. Extractor spring is external, on top of the extractor, and fits into a machined groove inside the mouth of the BCG. This is the direct opposite of what we're used to, with the extractor spring back under the tail of the extractor, internal. I don't know if the extractor spring is the same one as an AR-15 part, but it doesn't feel too strong. It has no "insert" inside of it. It's pretty easy to "cycle" the extractor with finger pressure. Not like the AR-15... Overall, that's it. It's a pretty simple system. That carrier is VERY unlike a standard AR-15 carrier - there's extra meterial everywhere they could put it, and there's even a threaded heavy allen-headed insert screwed into the back of the BCG. I need to get a new postal scale and weight this thing out. It's heavy.
  24. Forgot to cover one thing the OP was asking about - this set of furniture ships with a front bipod stud, and it's on there in the AR-15 Woody pic above. <thumbsup>
  25. They're offering these in Cerakote, but only until 7pm Central, Monday night... :o
