  1. Man, you're gonna kick my ass on this build/race, ain't ya? <lmao> My 300BLK-dedicated lower gets picked up tomorrow. :-[ You know I can grow a whole gun out of a roll pin in under two weeks, so you better step it out... <laughs>
  2. Welcome aboard, man - great to have you here. <thumbsup>
  3. I hope Obama considers this a "shot across the bow" for anything he attempts in the future. News as of today, 13 July 11: House Committee Passes Amendment to Defund Illegal Obama Firearm Sales Reporting Requirement http://www.nraila.org/Legislation/Read.aspx?ID=6988 Wednesday, July 13, 2011 Today, during consideration of the FY 2012 Commerce, Justice, Science Appropriations bill, pro-gun U.S. Rep. Denny Rehberg (R-Mont.) offered an amendment to prohibit the use of funds for a new and unauthorized multiple sales reporting plan proposed by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The Amendment was passed by a vote of 25-16. The Rehberg Amendment, which was strongly supported by NRA, will defund the Justice Department’s controversial and illegal move requiring federally licensed firearms retailers in states bordering Mexico to report multiple sales of semi-automatic rifles. As we reported yesterday, this procedure was proposed last fall as an “emergency" measure by BATFE. Specifically, it calls for all of the firearm retailers in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas to report multiple sales, or other dispositions, of two or more .22 caliber or larger semi-automatic rifles capable of accepting a detachable magazine purchased by a single individual in a five consecutive business day period. It is important to note that under existing law, BATFE already has full access to every dealer’s firearm transaction records, either during a bona fide criminal investigation or simply to enforce compliance with record keeping requirements. This new reporting procedure would create a registry of owners of many of today's most popular rifles--firearms owned by millions of Americans for self-defense, hunting and other lawful purposes. Most importantly, however, the BATFE has no legal authority to demand these reports. In addition, the agency has recently come under intense scrutiny due to its ill-conceived “Fast and Furious” operation. "Fast and Furious" encouraged Arizona gun stores to sell thousands of guns to suspicious buyers, despite objections from dealers and even BATFE’s own field agents. Earlier this year, the U.S. House of Representatives voted on and passed, by a vote of 277 to 149, an amendment to H.R. 1 (also offered by Rep. Rehberg, along with Rep. Dan Boren (D-Okla.)) that also would have prohibited the use of federal funds for this reporting requirement. Unfortunately, the amendment was not included in the final version of the bill as a result of Senate inaction. In March, U.S. Sens. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) and Richard Burr (R-N.C.) introduced S. 570--“to prohibit the Department of Justice from tracking and cataloguing the purchases of multiple rifles and shotguns." The bill would ensure that federal funds cannot be used for the multiple sales reporting procedure. NRA will continue to work to make sure the Rehberg Amendment makes it through the appropriations process. The amendment is scheduled to be heard on the House floor in August. While the Rehberg Amendment is a critically important first step, it is imperative that you contact your U.S. Senators and ask them to cosponsor and support S. 570. You can find contact information for your elected officials by using the "Write Your Representatives" tool at www.NRAILA.org, or you can call your U.S. senators at (202) 224-3121. S. 570 currently has 29 cosponsors. To see if your senators are cosponsors, please click here: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d112:SN00570:@@@P
  4. Awesome stuff, guys - I know there are more out there. ;D
  5. Sounds like a new rifle build, not a parts-n-accessories auto-page-feed... <lmao> I love it. <thumbsup>
  6. Awesome, 49 - damn glad you're here. <thumbsup>
  7. That's good work, Drew. <thumbsup>
  8. Look forward to the pics and writeup, brother. <thumbsup>
  9. From the sounds of that, you're thinking about "doing something" Douglas... <dontknow> <laughs> <munch>
  10. Too bad, buddy, now get your ass in gear! <lmao> <munch>
  11. Not in the least, brother, not at all. Just didn't see any comments from you about it after I said something about the Noveske barrel... <dontknow> I saw about the receipt of the Young carrier, but I didn't know about their bolt, too - though that was still a few months off. On the same note, I know the Young carrier is chromed, and nice, but I thought their bolts was still coming out as a phosphated bolt - no benefit of keeping it over an Armalite bolt, and running it in the same carrier. And, there are no white lines with the .308 ARs, no matter how clear-cut it sounds coming from someone - everything is gray. If it was all built on a mil-spec platform to a definitive TDP, it would be different, but it's not. Any manufacturer can do anything they want, regardless to the rest of the industry, and call it "perfect," but basing that perfection off nothing other than opinion. One particular manufacturer comes to mind, and it's not DPMS nor Armalite, nor any of their derivitives. True. <thumbsup>
  12. That doesn't matter not a bit, as I previously stated. Doesn't matter what type of receiver you have - the barrel extension will fit into that receiver like it was made for it. All you need to do, and make sure you do, if you wish to run an Armalite-design barrel in your DPMS-style upper receiver is make sure you use an Armalite bolt. Even if you have a DPMS bolt carrier, the Armalite bolt will fit it. The bolt has to match the barrel extension. As long as those two parts are style-specific, it doen't matter which brand of receiver you mate them to - they'll go right into DPMS or Armalite. The opposite is true, also - DPMS barrels (and their compatible bolts) will go right into an Armalite receiver, the the DPMS bolt will go right into an Armalite bolt carrier. Trying to help you here, man, but I don't think you can smell what I'm spreadin'.
  13. That's awesome, Drew! <thumbsup> Now, when do we see the review pics of the skinny GG&G against the Bobro?... <laughs> <munch>
  14. If the Noveske barrel fits what you want to duplicate, then just get it. Run an Armalite AR-10 bolt in your current BCG, and it'll be fine. The bolts will work in any bolt carrier - carrier brand doesn't matter, as long as the bolt itself matches the barrel extension on the barrel you have.
  15. Have you posted a pic of your AR-10 on the forum yet? A quick look at it will tell us which one you need. Armalite has a couple different gas system lengths out there, that aren't the same as the AR-15 gas systems. Pop up a pic and we'll chime in. <thumbsup> EDIT - Disregard, I snatched one. ;D Looks like mid-length to me; it's definitely too long for carbine, and it's not rifle. You'll need to measure those handguards that you have right now, though, for sure. Verify and compare to the stats on MagPul website.
  16. Watch prices carefully now - they will go up.
  17. That's a cool upgrade, but I think we might be a bad influence over the long-term... <laughs> Welcome aboard, man.
  18. Couple options out there for something like that. For storage of batts, you'd be looking at something like the MagPul ACS or the LMT SOPMOD stock. Those don't have the cheek riser, though. I think what you're looking at in that department it the MagPul PRS setup. Now, you can have batt storage, and get a cheek riser - use either one of the collapsible stocks mentioned (ACS or SOPMOD), combined with the LaRue Tactical RISR on them... http://stores.homestead.com/Laruetactical/Detail.bok?no=501 That might work. Good discussion, man. <thumbsup> Fire off your thoughts.
  19. I have to throw another big plus in here for Dave - what a great guy to deal with, and an even greater guy just to talk with on the phone. <thumbsup> I'll definitely do business with him in the future, and I'll probably just call him up to shoot the poop with... <laughs> Keep doing what you're doing, Dave - you're one of the good guys, man.
  20. 98Z5V

    Just two months

My brother takes the limit every year, in all seasons. Next time I get home, I'll snap a shot of his man-cave, with all the mounts. He's had many that have just missed state records. I'm so damn jealous that it's not even funny... ;D
  21. That's straight-up f'in sacrilege, right there. <dontknow> <munch>
  22. Cheater - you never mentioned any of that other stuff before... <lmao>
  23. That would leave you over-gassed, if anything. If you can still thread it in enough to shut the gas system down completely, then taking material off the length of that adjusting screw didn't harm you at all. <thumbsup>
  24. There's only one 2-piece out there that's a lo-pro gas block - that I know of... Yankee Hill Machine, their Specter gas block. It only comes in a 0.625 and a .750 flavor. Minimum inner diameter of the rail must be 1 5/8" to clear the Specter .750 gas block. Cw434, the gas block dimensions (or barrel size at the gas block mount) for the Oracle .308 should be listed on the DPMS website.
  25. Tracking tells me tomorrow morning. <thumbsup> They'll all be in the guns tomorrow night, then off to the range on Sunday.
