Picked up mine from FA; very happy with it. Cheaper through Fulton (than DPMS) by far, when you compare it to the listed DPMS price. It is a DPMS factory part that Fulton sells. <thumbsup>

The entire bolt carrier group of either flavor (DPMS or Armalite) will fit in any upper receiver, and run. I've seen reports from guys that just changed out their barrel from one to the other design, and not had problems. I've also seen reports from people that had problems running DPMS and Armalite parts together (barrels and bolts; example, just putting a DPMS barrel on a complete Armalite rifle). The best thing do do is keep those "meshing" parts together, because you can mount the barrels to the upper receivers without problems. I've never (myself) seen any reports from people on the precision measurements of the two styles of bolts or barrel extensions - it might be out there in the web somewhere, but I haven't found it myself.

Match the barrel extension to the bolt, i.e., DPMS barrel (and barrel extension), then run a DPMS bolt. Armatlite barrel, Armalite bolt. <thumbsup>

Larry, I've got the blueprints and lower plans for an AR-10. FCG pocket will be the same as DPMS-patterned .308s, and if you're starting with 80% lowers anyway, the magwell will already be completed on all of them. No need to mill the magwell on them, be it AR-10 pattern or DPMS-type pattern. Two .zip files are attached to this post, but I can't attach the executable file for the CNC machine cutting program. I picked up my first BAD lever in January - and love it. I love the change in the manual of arms, and what it does for the rifle; I just wish it would have been out when I was still in the Army. Great piece of gear, IMHO. <thumbsup> Now, with that said, I've got the BAD lever on 5 ARs right now, and I've tried to mount one up on my DPMS .308, and it's just not clearing on the recess on the upper. One that I've looked at that might work is the Phase 5 Tactical, EBR Version 2. I'm going to give one a try and see how it does on the .308.

That Bennie Cooley from Fulton is supposed to be the best of the best for the .308. I haven't shot one of those, so I can't give first hand experience on it; just passing on what I've seen others say about it. I'm running the YHM .308 Phantom "combo comp/flash suppressor" on mine, on the Fulton 18.5" barrel. It does very, very well at the flash suppression part. It kicks like a damn mule, though, so I'll tell you that it's MUCH better at flash suppression than it is as a comp. <laughs>

The DMS-1 is a nice scope, man - it would be a good one for the 16" beasty. <thumbsup>

LaRue OBR for that money, or look for a lower price on the LMT .308. Both those fit your POU, and would do well.

The forward assist on a .308 AR won't grab the serrations on the BCG, but the forward assist is functional - it grabs the shoulder on the .308 BCG where it goes from smaller to larger. You can seat the bolt in the extension with the forward assist. There's so much more chambering force in a .308 AR over a 5.56 AR, though - if the BCG doesn't fully seat on a live round, something else is wrong.

They kept pushing it back, had a contract to provide for the LMT (if I remember that right), and had a couple other things they were trying to do at the same time. Honestly, I quit following the release of the 25s out of frustration... :-[

They definitely clean up alot better than a phosphated carrier. The surface is harder, and they'll operate smoothly - better so than phosphate carriers. Those are the real benefits. "Looks" is the other benefit, or detractor, depending on how you feel about it. Worth it, IMHO. <thumbsup>
