I do both of these - I leave most of my Pmags loaded with the covers on, and further stacked into Cabela's dry boxes (catch those jokers on sale about twice a year for $8.99 ea <thumbsup>). All my GI aluminum mags are stacked and unloaded. Ammo, beyond what fits in mags - that stuff stays boxed but stacked in dry storage boxes, with separate marked boxes for .223/5.56, .308, .22LR, .45 ACP, then "various.". The Cabela's dry boxes stack very nicely and securely (they almost lock in together when stacked).

No kidding - much more inline with a Fox News article than a CNN article. This is what got me, in that - this comment: After a recent weekend in which 10 people were killed and 60 wounded by gunfire, Chicago Mayor Richard Daley continued to argue the necessity of a citywide gun ban. "Look at all the guns that shot people this weekend. Where did they come from? That is the issue." First, the guns didn't shoot people - people shot people. Second, a handgun ban is NOT going to stop criminals from obtaining guns. That statement right there is the proof that criminals will get guns, no matter what ban is in place, and they'll use them for whatever they want. No preventative or prohibitionary law can stop that. They just don't get it... :(

In a nutshell, you'll need: * an A1 length buffer tube, * a .308-specific rifle buffer, * a .308-specific rifle buffer spring, ...and the PRS. There are two versions of the PRS out there - AR-15 and AR-10. Slight difference, but you need the AR-10 PRS; if you have the AR-15 PRS it can work with slight trimming, but some people don't like the look of that. I won't get into the details of it, 'cause you probably ordered the AR-10 one.. ;D <thumbsup>

An A2 buffer tube is only an A1 with and extension (5/8", if I remember correctly) and a longer screw. The PRS uses an A1-length buffer tube. <thumbsup>

I can't help ya with a gas tube - I DEFINITELY don't keep spare gas tubes on hand! WAY too dangerous for me... :-[ :o If I had a part that big in the locker, it would grow a gun around it in no time flat. <dontknow>

I finally got notice that my stripped upper and lower are at the FFL, so I'll make plans to get there by the end of the week and pick them up. Complete build should/could be finished by Sunday. ;D

For the muzzle device, the KX3 won't help you at all on an 18" barrel. That thing is designed more to help out the short barreled rifles in a close proximity situation by directing muzzle blast forward - away from the people directly beside you. It also increases backpressure to help the shorter barreled gas systems operate smoothly. That won't be any good on an 18" barrel build. Have you considered a threaded muzzle brake, one that's already set up for suppressor use? Ones that come to mind are the AAC Blackout (threaded version, I think, is called the Brakeout), a Surefire brake for suppressors, and a YHM threaded flash suppressor. It's best to determine what suppressor you'll want, and match the muzzle device to the suppressor. Not all of the muzzle devices are compatible with all the suppressors out there.

^^^^^^^^ Very true. I'm just glad to see some common sense applied by some of the judges - not by all of the judges, regretfully. :( It would be unbelievable if the court ruled the other way. I'm happy the 2nd Amendment won, as it should have.

Nah, I ain't skeered - it's money, man, money... :-[ Dropping that much at once will take some time - time to save up. I just got notified yesterday that the final pieces to the current midlength build are ready to ship, and I dropped almost $500 on those. :o That one will be finished sometime after the July 4th weekend... <thumbsup>

I'll definitely be in here talking about it, man. No doubt, either way. <thumbsup> I sure wish I would have measured that gas port on the barrel before I put this thing together, though. Just to know. I can't make it smaller, but I don't know how large it is, either. The weight I currently have against felt recoil is the Fulton (DPMS) chrome BCG, a Fulton rifle buffer and Fulton rifle buffer spring. This damn thing kicks like a mule - a very pissed off mule, too. The only thing I have working against the gas system (and, not really working against it) it the PRI lo-pro gas block, non-adjustable. The port in the block is much more oversized compared to the port in the barrel - so it gives full gas pressure. Methodology tells me I can get a Slash heavy buffer for $100, or I can get a Tubb CWS for about $50. I'll do the CWS, and I'm sure there's going to be a weight combination (among the 3 possibilites) that helps. I can't see how it won't help in some way. I'm going heavy right off the bat, too, to see if the rifle cycles - carrier assembly and tungsten weight. If it doesn't cycle, in goes the SS weight, then down to the carrier assembly itself. We'll see...

That's a great price on it, but not shipping is probably what's stopping some of the responses. I'll buy it and pay actual shipping, throw in a bonus "handling fee," if you'll send it. <thumbsup>

Ah, you're good, man - set to 3 on the lowest setting with that scope, you won't even see that front sight post through the scope. Hard to explain, but the magnification is already seeing beyond that distance, and it won't even pick it up. <thumbsup>

Depends on your optic, but even if you're running something that's 1-4x, unless it's on 1, it'll blow right past that front sight. You should be good with 1" rings, almost no matter what you'll have on there for an optic (unless you're running a red dot).

The only other thing I'm going to experiment with is the Tubb Carrier Weight System. Try to soften up that recoil a little. <thumbsup>
