  1. So, this match was supposed to be interesting. August match, @JBMatt cleaned the fucking course AGAIN again. Multiple times now. I missed one shot in August, from cleaning the whole course, shot my fastest time on the timed stage, and did pretty damned well for myself. I decided then... I need to make it harder. Decided at the August match that I was shooting the 16" Precision Gun for the Sep match. Well, Matty agreed@! He was gonna shoot his 16" gun, too! I show up, and he's got his damn 18" gun again... Alright, Fuqr, you SAID... Whatever... I rode the Struggle-Bus on the first stage that we shot, and hit 4 out of 9 - I dropped 5 targets on that stage. It took a minute to figure out the BDC reticle that works so amazing on my 18" gun, and applying it to my 16" gun. That stage sucked for me, and I thought the whole course sucked, thought the next 2 stages were horrible... but I only dropped 1 target on each of those next two stages. Cleaned the last 2 stages. I ended up 44 hits out of 51 targets, and that was still only good enough for something like 21st place. The talent pool is DEEP out here, for shooters... Of course, Matty smoked the whole course again, and shot the 2nd fastest time, and ended up crushing it. ALL. I just wish he would have manned up and brought his 16" gun, like he said he would, back in August... Here's the technicals, for those that like to geek out on the numbers: https://practiscore.com/results/html/6d7f6ef7-82b2-44c6-98b2-c1913f9d9620 Here's what we shot - here's the course of fire: @Shadow, did you sign up and shoot this match? For the record, I'm highly impressed with my 16" precision gun - it got it done, once I got my shiit together and got that BDC going. That gun rocks, and I'll shoot it again in these matches. Ballistic Advantage 16" SPR stainless barrel rocked it - once I had it going. Click the pics of the Stage pics -keep clicking until they get bigger - they will.
  2. Did you sign up and shoot the last match, a week ago?
  3. Going back to your original question... Shooting for groups... should you (or do you) shoot at 200 or 300 yards? My magnified optics get zero'd at 100 yards. Red dots at 50 yards. Iron sights - depends on the gun/caliber/purpose. Some guns/optics setups get zero'd at 36 yards. Shooting groups? I only shoot "groups" at my zero distance. To zero the rifle or optic at it's given zero distance. An accurate gun is an accurate gun. Period. The distance doesn't matter. If it's sub-moa at 100 yards, it will still be a sub-moa gun at 1,000 yards - if your shooting fundamentals are sound. I test all my new handloads at 100 yards, to determine the best load for that gun. At greater distances, more comes into play. Range estimation is number 1. Wind reading is number 2. On a fixed-distance range, you don't have to estimate range, but you need to read wind. Out in the middle of the desert, you need to be able to estimate range and read wind. Or, you'll just suck. Or, you'll learn fast. So, my answer is simple - I don't care about groups at any range greater than my zero distance for the optic I'm using. If my gun is accurate, and I can estimate range, read wind, and know how to run my scope - then I will hit my intended target. If I miss, it's because I didn't pay enough attention to one of those things.
  4. They did. They shut down. They used to offer a machining service for any BCG that you'd send them, to convert it to their side-charger setup. IIRC, it was pretty cheap, like $25 or something like that.
  5. Very good, Dion.
  6. There's two reasons for that in the measurements he gave: Buffer should be 5.200" long, and his is 0.090" longer than that. Rifle Receiver Extensions should be 9 11/16 internal depth, and he's 9.75" internal (9 12/16) (1 16 = 0.063"). Overall, his recoil system hard parts are 0.027" too long, combined. Not enough to make an operational difference, when most proper clearances give you 3/16" ckearance between the bolt face, with BCG all the way back, and the bolt catch. Not perfect parts, but they should be working.
  7. Then finding something 2,000 yards out there will be a piece of cake, man!
  8. Gas tube length is good, recoil systems is goor, except for maybe the spring. Armalite EA-1095 spring or Sprinco Red spring will definitely do it. All that's left is gas port diameter. With the proper gas port diameter, that gun will run. Like a sewing machine. Let me look at one that I have that's similar, check it's gas port diameter. I'll tell you now, this I know... 18" midlength gas, 0.750 journal, needs 0.085" port. 16" midlength gas, 0.750" journal, needs closer to 0.090" port. With your longer-than-midlength gas tube, you can come down a little from there, but I'll say you need 0.085" port, minimum. Maybe a little more. That gas port needs to be drilled out. 0.078" just isn't enough.
  9. Get into the specifics on this part, too - what exactly is it doing, when you shoot it with no suppressor on it?
  10. This right here tells you the gas port is too small. Running the gas block wide open and it still does this is another indicator that the gas port is too small. Your buffer weight is correct. Your gas port isn't getting the energy there, because it's choking the system, and can't. Measure your gas port diameter and report back. This new intermediate gas system on their 16" barrels is something new, with that 13" + gas tube. Tell me what your gas port diameter is, and I'll figure out something else that will work, and get your gun running.
  11. With what gun? What caliber? You sent me a PM telling me you'd take all my 300 WSM brass that I had for sale - but I've never had any brass for sale. Details matter...
  12. Inside that long diatribe of a rant that I made, and I think you're talking about my post of my rant on this - you'll remember that I went way off the rails about these companies that "drill in between" the spec of AR15 and Armalite AR-10 gas port differences, and just hope that people won't notice. I went off about Faxon, specifically. Faxon used to be a sponsor here, and Nate was the rep here, but they kinda disappeared here, before all this came out. Too bad. Would have had in inside source to gripe to over this bulshiit, but timing prevented that. Seems Faxon still hasn't gotten it right. At any rate, I'm glad that you read what I posted, and picked up on what you need to do. Armalite AR-10 Carbine gas tube, at 12 1/16" is your cure for the situation that you're in. Glad you already found that out.
  13. @Joelski, thank you for that badass intro! You'll fit in here just fine, man. Where in OH are you? I'm originally from Zanesville. Left there in '86 for the Army, and haven't lived there since - but it's still "home."
  14. Damn good lookin' gun, @Joelski You did that one well, man.
  15. Seeing your vid, you remind me of @Robocop1051... That's not a bad thing. Rob, this is an AZ guy here, and... We have to get you two dudes together sometime on a range... The mannerisms, energy, verbals... You guys are long-lost twins, somewhere deep down the line...
  16. Strap a 'chute on 'em, Give 'em a quick JMPI, and push their ass right out. That will change their mentality real quick. I NEVER, EVER trusted a military pilot that didn't have jump wings.
  17. Paratroopers Rule: There IS NO "perfectly good aircraft." Ever. PIlots can take off, and that takes skill, but let me the FUK OUT somewhere, up there. ALL landings are nothing more than "controlled crashes." End of story. Get it up in the air, bud, let me the fuk out, and I'll control MY OWN landing. ALL aircraft are fucked up. Get the bitch in the air and just let me out when I need to get out...
  18. Gibbs Rifle Company reproduction. Long story short, Gibbs purchased all the Remington actions from Parker-Hale in the 1990's. I have one of these, and we'll shoot it at Fall Shoot. A conversation with @JBMatt tonight prompted this. Here's mine: Here's a review from MAC, back in the day, when his YT channel was jammin;...
  19. He's a bot. He said in one profile that he was from France. His IP is out of Great Britain. Here's all the names using his IP: https://www.stopforumspam.com/ipcheck/2001:ac8:25:5000:: Notice anything about those accounts? 20. Sucks, don't it...
  21. You are the King of Rock, brother... I'll have my assistant run downtown and grab two blowjobs, and bring you one back.

    Morning

    Nice haul!!!
  23. If they have a profile you like, you won't be disappointed. BA is my first go-to, always. I've had too much success with BA barrels. I go towards Faxon as a backup, when I want (need) a profile that BA doesn't make. Faxon is badass, but my first choice is always BA. Hands down.
  24. This is great news - I love a success story on a gun that people build - very well done.
  25. We are never out of the fight, brother. Until the end of every individual, individually. We're not out of the fight. Never quit - nobody likes a quitter. 3rd grade playground rules come into effect here. Use that.
