Yes, it is. Barrel nut threading is different, between the two (DPMS LR-308 and Armalite AR-10), but the rail heights are identical. Barrel nuts are not interchangeable, but the rails are, give the same barrel nut lockup/mounting. DPMS LR-308 is 16 TPI, and Armalite AR-10 is 18 TPI.

I live my life by that, brother. Every morning when I wake up, I'm surprised I'm still here... I count my blessings, daily...

Well, you certainly "eluded" to that, with this (earlier than my post) statement below... The PI and VietNam are safe from China. China can't fuk with them, not in the least. There's a definitive reason behind that, too. You know what that reason is?

That's a badass TeePee, right there @Magwa !!!

Best pound-per-buck, is just get one of the Energizer headlamps. I keep those things in go-bags, in cars/trucks - just so they're there. White light'/red light, 3 triple A batts. Can't go wrong with those thing, and get the highest Lumen one out there. They're cheap, and damn near foolproof.

ArmaLite AR-10(T) - Initial Thoughts / Questions
98Z5V replied to BigNate's topic in General Discussion
That's probably carbon buildup. Scrub the hell out of that ring with a good brass-brush and some solvent, and I'll be that it "disappears." That's not a groove in the cam pin - that's old shiit left over, from firing. Your nail isn't catching on a groove - it's catching on a ridge of carbon... If I'm wrong, I'll buy it from you as a spare. -
Yep, just shoot 'til it pops back in, and stop there. Go to cooler, grab beer, nurse wounds. Every single morning is a brand new lease on life...

@Albroswift, gas block solved. PRI makes it. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/2367115050

The RRA stuff is AR15, I have one of those, in the NM flavor. Cert lists a couple good parts for you. http://www.cert-tactical.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=25&products_id=23078 http://www.cert-tactical.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=25&products_id=23077 Just gotta find the Armalite AR-10 pic gas block, and you're set.

JD Machine used to make that, and @DNP has one. JD Machine is gone now, though. Gonna be a tough hunt, for that, I'll try to come up with more ideas. Find a .308AR carry handle yet? That's gonna be hard to find, too...

Exactly so.

OEF-P (Operation Enduring Freedom-Philippines) - sounds familiar, OEF was Afghanistan. OEF-P ran parallel for 13 years, ended in 2015. They finally inactivated JSOTF-P in Feb 2015. It was strange... All SOF-run, from the get-go. Not long after I left, they brought in some conventional people to take our place - and we had to leave our gear behind, written off the property books. Bet those fuckers had a FUN TIME trying to figure out how to run all that shiit... They longer it went, the more it got watered down, and the only thing that was "Joint Special Operations Task Force" was the headquarters, for the most part, and the actual teams on the ground. All the in-between people never worked in SOF, weren't from SOF, and didn't have a clue about the mission. We were a wrecking crew for that 8 months, plus several more after I got out of there. Professional Plumbers... layin' pipe all over the countryside... If you get a chance, read this book: Here's the background, on the main page of her website, that got us IN to the PI... https://graciaburnham.org/gracia/ 7 Jun 02 she was rescued, and it sucked, and it was bungled. 21 Jun 02, Abu Sabaya was dead. Research Alvin Siglos.

They're after the Marshall Islands, not the PI and VietNam. No way would/could they take over two sovereign nations that are not "under their control." They think they own Hong Kong and Taiwan, but they don't - and that's been a major world contention, just with those two. If Biden is your source - then you definitely need a new source. He doesn't even know what day of the week it is. See his performance at the G7, where he blanked out mid-sentence,for a full 6 seconds?... Shiit, he doesn't know the difference between Syria and Libya, and he just demonstrated that on the world stage...

Please tell me about the Philippines and China. I'm interested. I spent 8 months of my life in the PI, in 2002, finding, fixing, and eliminating the Abu Sayyaf Group. On 12 Jan 2002, when we deployed, there were 1,000 of them (ASG). When I left country in August '02, there were less than 100 of them remaining. Search the history on JTF-510 and JSOTF-P. https://www.globalsecurity.org/military/agency/dod/jtf-510.htm https://www.globalsecurity.org/military/agency/dod/jsotf-p.htm I'm interested in your China connection, and why you stated that. EDIT - Or, I'm just wondering if you're talking out of your ass, not knowing what you're stating, Al.

It's not that bad - you get all caught up in the moment, before you realize you've been injured... Almost like a skinny dude in a white dress, shooting a .700 Nitro...
-
Make sure you discuss methods with @DNP on the tri-tip. He is the MASTER of this cut, in my very humble opinion. Best I've ever had, hands down...

About 6. Holds 5 in the tube and 1 in the chamber...
-
That would definitely be because of the ejector... Rounds feeding from the right side of the mag have to make that jump when chambering, because the ejector is on the left side of the bolt face. Square-faced ejectors are the worst offenders causing this, especially in the large-frame ARs.

You can shoot my 45-70 when you come out here for the Fall Shoot. As much as you want.

You counter the deisel burn with propane injection, and it all evens out... That's like nitrous on a gas engine, right there... I've torn down a few propane engines before (tugs and a forklift), and those things are SO clean... pistons, combustion chambers, valves... clean... Impressive...

I was gonna say that, but I decided to read down first, before commenting. Good choice, on my part... Well stated, my man. My Mantra...

So, with the LAW Tactical Gen 2 folder on there, it comes with and extension/insert that goes in the back of the BCG, to take up the additional length/space of the folder. After watching the Ian Harrison/RECOIL vid a few times, Rare Breed recommends a heavy (H3) buffer for operation... He tried it, and had to drop down the buffer weight to get the gun to run. I took notes, about that. I weighed that LAW insert, and it's 62 grams, or 2.18699 oz. Let's call that 2.187 oz, of additional cyclic weight/reciprocating mass, that's been added to the recoil system. Previously, I had an H-weighted buffer in this pistol. So, 3.8oz buffer, plus another 2.187oz is one heavy buffer... 5.987oz. If RECOIL Mag had issues with a 5.4oz buffer, then I predict issues with that setup. I swapped out the H for a standard carbine buffer, 3.0oz. That's still 5.187oz, pretty heavy, when those guys had to go lighter. So, I built 2 more buffers today, just in case. I grabbed 2 standard carbine buffers, opened them up, and substituted some aluminum weights. Took a steel out of one, inserted one aluminum. I'm calling that Carbine Buffer -1. 2 steels out in the other, 2 aluminums in, and I'm calling that Carbine Buffer -2. That's what they'd be, anyway... Standard 3.0oz carbine buffer + 2.187oz (LAW insert) = 5.187oz. C-1 weighs 2.55oz + 2.187oz = 4.737oz. C-2 weighs 2.15oz + 2.187oz = 4.337oz. One of these things should work. I'll take tools with me if they don't, and make a C-3 buffer, all aluminum inserts, and that would leave me with a 3.937oz buffer, as a last resort...That's still slightly over the weight of a 3.8oz H buffer, right there... BUT! The thing ran great with an H buffer before... If none of this works - hand-cut Delrin inserts, at a later date, if I can keep the trigger that long. Sounds like a great day. It's only supposed to be 114* tomorrow... All in the name of Science...

Pistol Brace Update, from 7 Jun 21
98Z5V replied to 98Z5V's topic in Firearm Industry News and Gossip
Not sure yet, on which way they'll go, and I'm certain that they're gonna be very vague about it... The already have the language stated, and could have just copied and pasted it - but they didn't. From the SBR Rules: Barrels under 16" must have a permanently attached muzzle device, in order for the muzzle device to be counted as barrel OAL, IF the muzzle device gets that under-16" barrel over 16"... Then, they list two methods for permanent attachment - blind pin and weld, and 1100* silver solder. Those are not the only methods one could use - just the two methods that they listed... So, they had the words there already, and they didn't use them... Makes me suspicious. I can guarantee you this - if that 3" flash can is permanently attached, they can't turn around and state that it's one of those "non-operation accessories..." -

So, here's page 16 and 17 inside that 71-page doc that's been linked. THIS is their whole proposed "ATF Form 4999," the "checklist" to determined if you have a legal "pistol" or an illegal "pistol." There are glaring holes in this entire form... Look at it closely... Click it, many times - it gets bigger...
