  1. Yep... I have one left. It's a standard MOE + in FDE, so PM me your mailing address again, and it's on the way. I think all the rest went into the campfire, after I couldn't give 'em away out here... Nobody likes those things out here, except for AZ Newbies...

Yep, exactly. I'll take Nitride any day of the week. Both of them beat the shiit out of old-skool phosphate, hands down, but I like the Nitride for the reasons you just stated. NiB is sexy - as fuk - but I want the gun to run. It ain't built to win beauty pageants.
  3. Well, I just found this, right on JPs website - and the equivalent weight is 5.0oz. AR-10 Carbine buffers (and AR15 H3 buffers) are 5.4oz. Doesn't seem like a big deal, but let's see how it does... If you don't get the spacer cut right, and if it doesn't work right after that, then get the parts I listed above ^^^... Compatibility The JPSCS2-10 is designed to work in standard 7-inch M16/M4-length buffer extension tubes on .308 AR-type rifles like the DPMS LR-308. Armalite .308 rifles, likewise, use these standard M16 extension tubes with rifle-length stocks, so this unit will function normally when installed with the supplied spacer. However, Armalite's .308 carbines use a slightly longer, non-standard carbine extension tube. The JPSCS2-10 can still be used with these extension tubes by installing the spacer, which must be modified to fit. Alternately, the system will function readily if the longer Armalite carbine tube is replaced with a standard 7-inch .223 carbine extension tube.
  4. Just make sure that the JP you ordered is for an Armalite AR-10 Carbine, first up. If it's not, it won't work. If you need a regular old buffer and spring, with that MagPul M110/SR25 extension (a verified replacement for the AR-10 Carbine Receiver Extension, at 7 5/8" internal depth), then you'll need any old AR15 Carbine H3 buffer (3.250" long), and an Armalite EA1095 recoil spring.
  5. No, brother!!! But NOW you did it... I'm talking about these:
  6. I love the look of those chopped-down carry handle A2 rear sights. Well done. That's probably the rear-sight route I'm gonna go on the next one coming up. It's either that, or another MaTech rear.

NiB is fine, if it's from a quality manufacturer, or from a reliable vendor - BA is all that, in spades, too. NiB adds to the external dimensions, when applied. Smart manufacturers know this, and machine accordingly, for the coating. Cheap NiB coatings can flake off. Smart manufacturers don't cheap out on the coating, and this isn't a problem from them. Nitride goes into the surface, doesn't add anything to the dimensions, and is a surface treatment, not a coating. 6 of one, 1/2 dozen of the other. Buy a quality NiB BCG/bolt, and you can't go wrong.
  8. Quite a deal for $28 each. I like it. I've got mine in the gunsmith toolbox already.
  9. Double check the rest of your barrels, brother - make sure they're identical to the original. Some of these gas tubes came up at 11.000" and some ended up perfect at 11.250". My first was 11.000". I need to match up the other one to it, and make sure they're the same port distance.
  10. My sentiments, exactly, brother. To a T. I wish the B5 P23 grip had a cap, and could store something (spare batts, M&Ms, whatever). The B5 stipling is WAY STOUT! You're not letting go of that grip by accident! I don't like the MagPul "+" grips anymore. First 2 years back in Phx, and I had one get all tacky on me, like an old set of dirtbike grips. I killed off all the MOE + grips and K2+ grips right away, and replaced them with the regular plastic versions, for that very reason. I still like K2s, and I'll use them, or the P23 grip - whichever one is hanging on the wall in John's shop, in the right color, I'll grab it. He's been pushing B5 pretty good, and I'm a fan of them for their SOPMOD stocks, from WAY back. Since he's been slinging the B5 pretty hard, that's why you're seeing more of those grips on my builds. They work, very fukkin' well.
  11. Right on - very familiar with Yuma. You do any duning? That's another sickness of mine, though I've neglected it for about 3-ish years or so now.
  12. Based on all this drama, I think I'll build another pistol. This one will be a 12.5" Kino.
  13. Mine came in today, but I didn't get to the PO Box to pick them up yet. Rene, I see yours arrived.
  14. Here's a good vid on it: Here are some other elected officials that are striking out: https://www.cruz.senate.gov/?p=press_release&id=5901 https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/sites/default/files/images/executive-management/2021/ATF Letter - Signed.Final_.pdf
  15. You guys been keeping up with this stuff? 141 members of Congress sent a letter to the USAG and BAFTE Acting Director. Hudson leads the charge once again. https://hudson.house.gov/press-releases/hudson-leads-140-members-calling-on-atf-to-withdraw-stabilizing-brace-rule Here's the whole thing - click it until it's big enough to read - it gets bigger...
  16. Just put it in the gun and shoot it, before you think you need to change anything with it. You might be surprised.
  17. Where abouts? There's a BUNCH of us AZ guys here. I'm south of Phx.
  18. Don't ask @Robocop1051 about CMMG parts. He almost hates that company to a level of my thoughts on PSA...
  19. That's a damn good .22LR load for semis - good score. They limited you out, so hit them in the morning and bend-em-over-the-counter again for another 3. Your brass catcher looks like an "ejection condom..." I'm just sayin'...

18" barrel is a GREAT CHOICE! Oh, that 18"barrel can run 1,000 yards, easily, just so you know. That's a fine choice for a barrel length, Ed. Next is gas system length, for that 18"er. I'd run a rifle gas system on that length, all day, but the midlength gas system works, too. The rifle gas system will shoot a little softer, less felt recoil to the shoulder. So, the search is on - 18" rifle-length gas system barrel, or even the mid. Look for the rifle gas. First choice would be Ballistic Advantage, but also check to see what Faxon has available. If neither of those two have something that meets the need, the Fulton Armory or Criterion certainly have it. Fulton and Criterion would actually be my first choice, and the "compromise" is that the barrel is 18.5". But ... it's a badass barrel.
  21. Those lower parts are all CMMG - they're the only ones that bag them in those colored bags like that. Just info.

No offense intended, Ed, but getting gun details out of you is just a little bit harder than using pliers, and extracting one's own teeth here. So. Let's work through this. You have a badass receiver set. Since it's SLR, and they're rarer than hen's teeth - nobody here know how this is gonna work out. However, all things being equal, if I had a LaRue upper matched to a LaRue lower, I wouldn't put a Midwest Industries rail on it - I'd put a LaRue rail on it. My personal opinion is to spring for a pricey SLR rail for this gun build. FWIW. Next, you've never stated if you intend to run a fixed rifle stock, or some sort of collapsible stock. Therefore, it's kinda tough to tell you what recoil system parts you'd need to find. Once that question is answered, life simplifies here. Finally, you've never stated what you want this gun to do. Are you slaying prairie dogs at 900 yards? Punching paper at 300 yards? Building this thing as your ultimate home defense weapon? Without a stated desire for what you want this gun to do, barrel recommendations and all other recommendations are gonna be like Lord Of The Flies for responses...
  23. My GunPusher has been stocking those, so it's been both lazy and easy for me, but the parts are great quality. I was looking online, for links to vendors, just to give examples in this thread - and everything looks like it's out of stock. If you need a few, I'll get them from my GunPusher and send them.

I looked these up. It's DPMS threaded, and DPMS High pattern. Rail choice will need to be either SLR, or anything else out there that matches DPMS High pattern, for rails. Aero Precision is all DPMS High. Several others are, too. Make sure you search that and match that, when looking for a rail. This is your receiver set, correct?

Receiver extension, buffer, and recoil spring. Yes. The heart of your reliability. That's what KEEPS your gun running, and not a single-shot.
