Ejection port door different on the G2 than on other .308ARs? Same width and height?

I have WOA make my custom gas tubes, when I need them.

At least I keep you coming around. Thank God you're here. If we ever bore you, then...

Gas tubes, barrel gas ports, and buffer weight
98Z5V replied to 98Z5V's topic in 308 AR - What You Need To Know
I updated Placeholder #7 on 21 June 2012, and updated Placeholder #8 tonight, 6 July 2012 - and I'm out of placeholders now... Planned for the future, and filled it up. Any comments on either one of those should be quoted, and start a new thread with comments/questions, on that quote. Please do not reply in this thread - this is an information thread. Only. -
I got your back. I got his back, too - depends on where the discussion is going. I'm just trying to keep up the fight...

Does he know what length gas tube he needs yet? It's gonna be Armalite or DPMS-based - and those are AR15 gas tubes, with a different bend than .308AR-based height-over-bore. Something to think about when recommending parts. Again, just my $0.02 on the whole affair. You make a functioning gun, first, with basic parts. You spice it up later, with all the fancy shiit.

Try the gas tube that you have first, and make sure it reaches the center of the cam pin cutout in the upper receiver. If it's short, you'll need the Armalite AR-10 gas tube equivalent. Trigger, start out with a LaRue MBT-2S. It's cheap, and it's made from S7 tool steel, and it's great-priced. Work with that for now, and I'll bet you never feel the need to change it out. Leave the recoil system for last. When you DO add the recoil system, use basic parts first, and not fancy shiit like silent-captured this-n-that. You're running a rifle recoil system. Use a .308AR rifle buffer (5.200" long and 5.4oz), and just use an Armalite EA1095 recoil spring. Make a functioning gun, and when it runs and it's broken in - start changing out for some of the fancy, Race Gun parts. My $0.02 on the whole affair.

WAY worse than you and HogZilla, right?...

There's nothing but meat in that last digit, and you caught it right in the middle, so there's no tendon to hit. I'll bet it's fat as hell right now though, from all the meat-trauma in there. You could have cracked that phalange, but I doubt it. It's a small, short little one, so it's possible, but the "OH SHIIT!!!" factor kicks in on most people before they can keep applying enough pressure to snap that little fucker. You just have some very mad, churned up meat in there right now, fat as fuk. It'll go down. Drip some tincture of iodine right into that little hamburger-hole while it's still fresh and raw. You'll be okay. Torx bits don't fuk around...

That's part of the answers... I don't know yet. You didn't give me very much on the barrel configuration/specs. All you gave me was 18" and the twist rate (which doesn't matter). I need to know what gas system it's using, and since it's a .308 Win caliber, it's either midlength or rifle length - unless it's Rifle +1, Rifle +2 - those come from custom barrel makers, most of the time. I don't know the diameter of the gas block journal, and that's very important in determining what size the gas port needs to be. Manufacturer of the barrel? Throw that in, too. That gas tube MUST GO. You need an Armalite AR-10 gas tube - but I don't know which one to tell you yet, because I don't know what gas system you have.

That is GREAT NEWS!!! Hell Yeah!!!

Easy, man! Do some Camp Chef stuff, and you can pack it up and take it to the dirt with you. 14" cooking system, Explorer 2: https://www.campchef.com/cooking-systems/14-cooking-systems/explorer.html Listed for $165, but it's at Cabela's right now for $99. Common street price is right around $100, and Big 5 sporting goods throws them on sale every other month. Just add in whatever accessories you want, later. Start with the big grill box, and you're set. Street price is around $150. https://www.campchef.com/deluxe-bbq-grill-box-2-burner.html EDIT - If you jumped on the "Tailgater Combo" right out of the gate, you'll get the 1/2 griddle and 1/2 grill with it... https://www.campchef.com/tailgater-combo.html

Click it, check it. Deal ends Tuesday at noon, and that's probably Pacific time, because SAA is in Tacoma, WA. https://www.surplusammo.com/products/saa-ar-15-m16-bolt-assembly-w-pins-nitride-9310-mpi-223-5-56-300aac.html

He'd stop the bleeding long enough for you to apply for another one - that he pulled up on his smart-phone...
-
Sounds like what LoneWolf would do if you were gunshot... He'd go through your pockets first, checking for new cards and cash - then control the bleeding...
-
The dog woulda been SOAKED - the dog didn't care that you were bleeding...
-
Come on down from New River, to Maricopa, and we can shoot sometime.
-
Oh, I saw it - looks like a little piece of raw hamburger on your thumb. You churned it up WELL - that thing is gonna be sore... Torx bits don't fuk around... It's a little tiny flesh-blender on the end of a hi-speed drill...
-
I'm glad that you thought about me, with the blood everywhere... Long enough to get some pics, before you healed yourself...
-
That is EPIC, Belt!!! See, not everything fingers-n-toes grosses me out. Smashed knuckles - I do that once a week. Punctures don't freak me out - they're just little holes that something went into, and a little bit of QuikClot will stop that right away - unless there's still a projectile in there, somewhere... Severed fingers-n-toes? Degloved? Bent the wrong way or bone and tendon sticking out? Severe cuts, where I can look into them and see either muscle or tendon? And there's that initial pause, where you see white bone, or red muscle, or a white severed tendon sticking up like a piece of spaghetti... before ANY blood comes out?... I'm barfing, first, addressing it later... Same injury on an arm or leg, and not finger-n-toe? Whatever. Stuff in the stuff that supposed to be in there, wrap you tight to control the bleeding (pressure dressing), or just tourniquet the limb... But not on a finger-n-toe like that... Gross... You gotta do better than that, brother. I was ready to turn off the monitor - but that wasn't bad... P.S. You did it right, with the shop towel and electrical tape. That's the preferred method, right there, for a mechanic. Kudos...

Bottom line is this, I'll cut to the chase. If it's really undergassed with a too-light recoil system, then the gas tube is too short, and the gas port diameter is too small. How many rounds do you have through this gun so far? Here's background information on what I'm talking about:
-
GET 'EM!!!
-
Gas port diameter for that barrel will be 0.093"~0.096". Double check the JP Silent thing, and make sure it's the equivalent of a 5.4oz buffer.
