You're starting to sound like @Rsquared... That's actually a commendable trait...
-
Uh huh. I see how it is. Both you fuckers.
-
Well, you don't have a squared off ejector face, that's just been determined. Let's take a look at something else here. ^^^ What's the gas port diameter on that barrel? And, are you sure it's 0.936" diameter for the gas block? This all comes down to a question from before, when asking for gun details - and we MEAN DETAILS... This must have been glossed over, with this suggestion: By the way - you never did heed the suggestion to post an Intro about yourself - so go get into that in your spare time. Your "free information" is over, until you accomplish that task.

I'll grab those, brother - I almost jumped at the last Nosler 105 RDF sale that was posted, but missed it. Right now, I'm sitting on 700 projectiles for the Hornady 108gr ELD-M for this thing - box here, box there... But, I do want to try those Nosler RDFs out, badly.

I went after the low hanging fruit, brother- and smacked Eric around, like he needed to be, for such a comment. Damn Newbie.

Post a pic of your ejector face - it's got a squared-off face, on the top of it. It's running too fast, as well. Too much gas - or more often than not, NOT ENOUGH recoil system... Standard Hornady .308 Win loads shouldn't be suspected as "hot loads." So, it's not the ammo. It's the gun. Squared off ejectors cause rounds to jam, when they're coming out of the right side of the double-stack magazine. Squared off ejectors also fuk brass up, and leave some nasty ejector smears on brass, when something is out-of-whack with the gun, and it's running too fast. More often than not, it's a too-light recoil system that's making the gun cycle too fast. Close runner up to that prize is a gas system that's way over-gassed. It's not usually the gas system, though. It's a manufacturer that's saving money making cheaper recoil-system parts, and the buffer is too light, and the spring is actually an AR15 spring... Cheaper that way, to make and sell them. Regardless - rounded off ejectors don't usually leave ejector smears, like you're showing in that pic above. We're only looking at one step of the issue here.

See - I back you up, got both of us out of this - and you throw me under the bus. I see how it is. BTW - I don't have hemorrhoids. You would have known if I did, though - I'm just sayin'...
-
Matt and I already discussed this - and we determined that since you're the newest guy that comes to the shoots - that you need to learn how to do handstands.

That's the exact same as running a fixed stock system/Rifle Recoil System. If that doesn't work - it means your gas system is jacked up. -
Couple more days, and I'll give a "status call" on this one again. 9/17 marks 3 months. By then, I should have my built date, or a schedule of where I am in the line, at least. I'll report back.

The gas block (front sight base) determines the location of the gas tube. The gas tube determines the location of the handguard endcap, because it passes through it, in an exact spot on the handguard endcap. In turn, that handguard endcap determines where the handguard locks in. The front sight base on this barrel, centered over the gas port in the barrel, is the heart of this whole maneuver, and dictates where everything else goes. Where you position that front sight base, and taper-ream that barrel for it - that's what's driving the rest of that train, man. Not the other way around.
-
You're the one that lines it up, before you taper-ream that barrel.
-
They'll both work, Mack. 5/32" is easier to use to blend, because it's smaller, but they both work well.

It's running too fast, because the buffer is too light. It's running so fast that the bolt catch can't even grab the BCG. Is your new receiver extension 7 5/8" internal depth? It needs to be, if you're gonna run a AR15 Carbine H3 buffer in it (3.250" long). You'll need the Sprinco RED spring for that, or you'll need the Armalite EA1095 spring for that. That's the proper setup, anyway. 7 5/8" internal depth extension, AR15 H3 buffer (5.4oz) at 3.250" length, EA1095 spring (or Sprinco RED spring). Lube the hell out of it, shoot it, report back. This will spell it all out: -
What do you have on order or in the mail? Part 2
98Z5V replied to imschur's topic in General Discussion
Depending on what it is that you ordered, it might work, and might not. If it's just a case holder, you might be okay. The 6 ARC case is truly a necked down 6.5 Grendel case - but the 6 ARC shoulder is bumped back by 0.030" over a Grendel case. So, it's not just necked down - the shoulder is further back as well. I can pop a picture up, if necessary. -
My Brigade Commander (2nd Brigade, 7th ID) was a Hamburger Hill survivor. COL Linwood Burney, as my Brigade Commander. Bad Motherfucker, all the way to his core. If you read the book, he's in there. Battlefield promotion to Company Commander during that fight. That guy is a legend, and we all learned alot of lessons from him. One Mean Motherfucker. He made 1-star General (Brigadier General), and was the 7th ID (L) Assistant Division Commander for Maneuver (ADC/M). Here's a quick local-paper story on him: https://greensboro.com/bush-nominates-a-t-grad-as-general/article_d5108474-5905-56cb-a1b2-e204d423070d.html The greatest lesson I ever learned from him - if you torture your motherfuckers fairly and equitably, but torture them HARD - and then you reward them fairly and equitably for the hard work that they put in... They will follow you straight into hell, no matter what you ask of them. You must lead the way, though, and every single time.

Good thing I tore that gun all down when new, and coated everything with JB-80. It'll be ALOT easier to clean it all back up...

Dremel with the Chainsaw Sharpening Bit will knock that aluminum out of the receiver real quick. It'll match/blend that upper to the feed ramps very well. Don't worry about the steel feed ramps so much - the aluminum from the receiver will go, long before you hurt those steel feed ramps. ALSO... That's the right round, out of a double-stack mag that's jammed, in these pics - is it always a right-side round that jams?... Take a pic of your ejector and post it up. Need to see what that ejector looks like in the bolt face...

My initial tests thus far. I'm 3 or 4 years into Grendel, and that this is the small-frame AR Dragon Slayer. Unreal what a Grendel can do. My initial tests on the 6 ARC - it's blowing the Grendel away. Bad. Crazy information, and it's gonna take awhile - if you never had a Grendel, then getting right into a 6 ARC is a smart move. If you HAVE Grendels already - then lets talk. How many you have? How far are you into reloading for them? Should you switch - or ADD?... All that hype I've seen about the 6 ARC right now- is true. Out to 850 yards at least, it's beating my Grendel handloads. It's a badass round for the small-frame AR. I won't get rid of it, and I'll push it even further, and find out what I can do with it- it's already beating my 18" Grendel at 850, and by a far margine.

Hunting Season opened up - those motherfuckers are smart. They know - get out of the "regular grounds" - and they know when Hunting Season starts. They go to where you can't shoot them... Smart sum'bitches, once a year...

^^^ That Pure SEX, right there. It's a Flying Nightmare, but it's sexy as fuk...
-
This thing is by far my preferred coyote gun.

At this point, I'm glad I jumped into the 25-45, and I'm glad that I reload. It ludicrous-easy to make 25-45 brass from .223 or 5.56 brass (just neck it up with the die set), and the only difference from a full-on 5.56 gun is the barrel. Same mags, same bolt, etc. Barrel only, and some dies. The Sierra 90gr Game King is excellent in this thing - stellar accuracy, and it's a THUMP over a 5.56 load, for sure. I'm glad I have one, and I'm glad that I'll never, ever have to worry about finding loaded ammo, and I'm glad I have a badass load already worked out for it. The 25-45 rocks.

10/22 success is ALWAYS good news, man! Everyone thinks I'm just an AR DI-gas blockhead, but I have a few other tricks up my sleeve. Maybe 3 or 4...
