You're on the good side, brother.

What do you have on order or in the mail? Part 2
98Z5V replied to imschur's topic in General Discussion
How easy was it in your end, brother? Care to share? Wake up with a headache, and some strange, pounding sensation in your ass?... In all reality, I have a plan... since you're on good terms with Tori... does she want to come to the Fall Shoot?... Asking for a friend... -
Here's a bigger version of that Hornady Load Data for this cartridge. I see promising numbers, here, and I'll talk about them more later... You'll need to click it 3 times, to make it bigger - but it's bigger, and readable... Keep clicking this, and it'll GROW... Something new that Hornady has never done before - is the listings of muzzle velocity for barrel length - and I'll get into that more, later. My Grendel numbers are beating this chart already - but I'm above Hornady's listed max on my Grendel loads... Due to the G1 and G7 drag model jumps, I will CERTAINLY be playing with some of these new 110gr A-Tip Match projectiles, too. I have 200 loaded rounds of 108gr ELD-Ms ready to go, and 300 projectiles of the same - so I'll work the gun out with this stuff - and I'll switch over to those A-Tip Match projectiles. The difference between the two is pretty staggering...

Did he shoot that fucker?...

Welcome aboard - you did it right. Others could/should learn from you.

Doesn't even belong in a .308AR in the first place. Not enough ASS to control the MASS - the moving mass and weight of a .308AR BCG... That's why you're gonna find that your gas port diameter on that barrel is 0.070", too - they made a smaller gas port in order to try to "band-aid" using WAY cheaper, lighter buffer - lighter buffers don't cost as much money, and a 2.500" long buffer that weighs about 5.4oz must have a stainless steel body, to get to that weight - and that's WITH two tungsten weights inside it... They elected to not spend the money on the stainless steel body, and get it right, and instead just use an aluminum body. There's your 3.8oz buffer... Save that buffer, though -there's two tungsten weights in it that you can use on something else. You'll need to drill up that gas port, before this thing will run right, with any ammo that you can throw in it. I can promise you that.

You reload? For the Elk, I'd recommend a Barnes 168gr TSX or TTSX projectile.

Building .308 Lower Better Than Hawaii?
98Z5V replied to Sir John of Dough's topic in Building a .308AR
I looked into your buffer selection, and they never do list the buffer weight. That's the most important part of building one of these. I don't care how fancy their buffer looks - you don't complicate shiit with complicated shiit. If that buffer doesn't weigh 5.4oz, maybe more, it's not gonna work right. If it's lighter - then they're just selling fancy buffers for .308ARs, and they're trying to make "the fancy make up for real buffer weight." Call them, see what it weighs. -
Building .308 Lower Better Than Hawaii?
98Z5V replied to Sir John of Dough's topic in Building a .308AR
Stick with Aero Precision for the pivot and takedown pins - they're longer than standard DPMS-based LR-308 parts, and work with their lower receiver. The Geissele Maritime Bolt Catch is very specifically an AR15 part, and will not work in a .308AR platform. Stick with either the Aero bolt catch (designed for their own lower), or try to contact PWS and see if they know if their own bolt catch will work in an Aero M5 lower (since they designed that for their own upper). Hope that makes sense. If it was my build, I'd run the Armalite EA1095 spring in it. Let us know if that PWS upper really works with the Aero M5 lower - I don't think anyone else here has done that combo before. I'd get the lower in, ensure fitment, before you progress any further. -
Looks like that extension needs to go in another full turn. It should be flush with the ears on the lower receiver, and it's not. The extension looks like 7.000" depth - but it's not in the receiver like it should be - and that creates an overall depth issue. try to get a pic it it, just like that pic above - in another turn. Show me what that looks like. You might have to remove the buffer retainer to do that.

Indeed, true words, brother. I need to climb up Rob's ass and spread out like a Spider Monkey, too. I'll call him this weekend, promise. Welcome aboard to .308AR.com! This place is... different. It's not like other gun boards. There's a good team here running things, and we can and will help Full30.com in any way necessary. Plus, we like most of those Full30 guys... This place, and @Robert@FULL30 have been working together for quite some time now. It's a beautiful relationship, but I wouldn't say it's like dating your cousin... You are welcome here anytime, Jarrad - for anything.

That receiver extension looks like it's longer than 7.000" internal depth. Measure that part accurately. Best thing to do is just order up the Armalite AR-10 Carbine Recoil System (kit) - the real-deal Armalite parts, not copies - then punch your gas port up to 0.080"~0.085". I can guarantee you that PSA shipped that barrel config with a 0.070" gas port diameter, and that's too damn small for that barrel setup. That ejector face is square as hell - that might need addressed in the future, but for right now, you need the gun to run in order to find that out. Square ejector faces tend to screw up feeding from the right side of the magazine.
-
That situation isn't as severe as the other way around - M4 receiver and non-M4 barrel extension. That one is a house-wrecker. Your feeding will improve, if you match the receiver to the feedramps in the barrel extension, that's for sure. My recommendation is the Dremel, and the Dremel Chainsaw Sharpening Bit. It's a long, thin stone. It'll make short work of the aluminum on the receiver, and it's pretty easy to match the ramps in the extension. The steel extension keeps you from messing it up. Don't even worry that it might turn out bad - it won't. This is what you're looking for - almost every ACE Hardware in the country carries these things:

They told me 1~3 months, and it's been 5 weeks now. Any day... I keep telling myself... I tried to call them Monday, but I was #17 in the queue, so I hung up. Tried calling today, but the phone lines were "closed for employee training" on Tues/Weds. Tomorrow, I guess. If it's gonna be the Grendel barrel that holds up the shipment - hell, they can send me that later... Whenever... This 6 ARC was designed as a gas-gun cartridge, but I'll bet that bolt gun chamberings indeed do come to market. If it does all it's supposed to do, I'll pick up a bolt gun for it, if the twist rate is what it's supposed to be. I'll bet on a Ruger American bolt gun as one of the first ones out of the gate - maybe even a Mossberg. From looking at that Hornady data closer, they actually list Accurate 2520 for this round. That's my go-to powder for 6.5G, so that has me excited. I knew that was gonna be a good powder for this one, because it's so damn good in Grendel loading for me. I liked seeing that data listed. CFE223 was supposed to be THE SHIIT for Valkyrie, but my initial loadings weren't spectacular - I'll play with that one more, and see if I can get it to run great with that powder. If not -then the Valk gets some experimental loads with the 2520. That light 12" pencil setup that you're talking about - that's just damn near like my 12.5" Grendel, and that thing is a winner. Hands-down just badass.

7-Yards doesn't have a single thing to do with whether an officer knows, or doesn't know. Has Zero Bearing on it, at all. Back turned, facing them, nada. Zero Bearing. Whether you know or not comes down to Situational Awareness, and if you DIDN'T know, then you were either ambushed, or your Situational Awareness was fucked up. You do not let an armed assailant with 7-yards of you, no matter what, if you can control it. Reason in all that is the very video I posted for you - and you directly. You see how fast 7-yards is closed, by someone very good with a knife? Watch it again. You DO NOT KNOW what the skill of that armed assailant is - you have no idea. It might be a street thug - or it might be a knife expert, or a Navy Seal Veteran. YOU DON'T KNOW what your facing... Yet you assume... ...as you said, "On the street." This is different times, my friend - probably not the times that you were a LEO. This world right now isn't what you faced, when you were one of them. As to your comment about LEO and .mil being different worlds - they're not. Not anymore. Wake up, and see what's going on in this country, and tell me it's not like combat in Afghanistan or Iraq. Oh, wait - you don't know what that's like. Today's streets are not what you were patrolling, back in the day.

It's killing me, brother, more than you know. I should be shooting this fucker by now. Here's where we sit, since the last update. 5 new Alexander Arms 17-rd Grendel mags for this one, that will be painted with the gun, matching the gun, the Athlon Ares BTR Gen 2 HD scope at 2.5~15 came in, and I pulled the MagPul FDE M-LOK bipod for this one. There is literally ONE THING LEFT TO SHIP for me to shoot this fucker - and that's the LaRue Ultimate Upper Kit. Everything else that I need is in that order... With the LT-158 mount. FML, man...
-
That's 21 FEET. You'd prefer that he was 3 yards away, before you fire? Are you serious? You DO KNOW the 7-yard rule, right? You were a LEO. You're aware of the 7-yard rule?... As a LEO, this might be past your time, but it's something that you should be aware of. Modern tactics, modern world. You never let ANYONE that is a threat within 7 yards to you - if they're a threat. This 7-yard rule has been written about for decades, in self defence. Decades.
-
Brother - Ruger hasn't made a bad RPR yet. They rock. Pick the right caliber, or you'll get your ass kicked come long range day... In reality, it doesn't matter which caliber you choose - those RPR guns are solid. As Fuk. It won't let you down. ^^^ That's just me, trying to be honest, beyond the obligatory Shiit-Talking... ...that you deserve... ...no matter which way you go...

What do you have on order or in the mail? Part 2
98Z5V replied to imschur's topic in General Discussion
It's a .22LR, and it's a bad little bastard - Congrats on that one. Those things are tough, and cool at the same time. Love 'em. -
Oh, however, you directly stated that it was right here on this board - and it's not a "blog." read your own words below... vvv - I'll highlight them for you in the same red color, as above. Makes it easy to see, and pick out in the crowd. I make that easy enough to see, and understand? There's nothing for me to "calm down about" here. You're talking bullshiit, and I'm calling it - it's pretty easy. Oh, by the way, I was calm, the whole time I was doing it, too. Just so you know... Decaf is for pussies, too. Don't recommend it to me. You're an idiot, or a sheep, if you think that decaf helps anything. You kinda started with the personal insults, there. If you'd like to continue that path, I'll shut your Cock-Holster for you real fast.
-
Remington is who is answering that one... It's not anybody that ever worked at DPMS.
-
I'll PM you two other numbers to try - you'll get through on one of them.
-
There is no "Rule 64b" here, brother - unless you wanna get one activated. There is a Lesson 65b - You Snooze, You Lose. That is the one you're talking about, I suspect. It's not a Rule here, and you don't ABIDE... It's a Lesson that you learn - once you try to buy something that you waited on... and now that fucker is OOS, EVERYWHERE... You learn this Lesson the HARD WAY... This was Drew's Original Lesson to the board here, I'm sure he wants it preserved. Because he passed it on, and it was hard to learn then...

AWESOME POST, MAN!!! THANK YOU!!! I honestly stopped checking. Saving that data right now. Minor update on the Magic LaRue 6 ARC coming up tonight. It's just pics and talk - but it's better than nothing... Baby Steps, brothers, Baby Steps... A brand new cartridge that creates a hysteria in the "AR Distance World" is launched for a Major Fake Pendemic and Major Fear Crisis - with new gun buyers snatching up everything that they didn't know that they needed 20 years ago, and everything the wished they had now... OUT OF STOCK. Then, they want every that Ahhh-nold used in the first Terminator, too, on top of that - even the Phased Plasma Rifle in the 40-watt range. And we're just here, not fucking around, trying to get a 6 ARC built, and shoot it against a damn 6.5 Grendel and a .224 Valk, and maybe a Mk11 in .308 Win. And we can't do shiit... It's frustrating, but it's the world we're living in now. It's the weirdest shiit I've ever seen in the gun world, and that includes all the years of bullshiit after SandyHook.
