  1. You beat the "reloading deficit" - you still have 1550 more than you reloaded, which is always a bonus...
  2. Next Local Get Together is SuperBowl Sunday. Because, fuk the NFL. Look for reports, details, and more shenanigans coming up soon...
  3. Much praise for the quick reaction of those two, that did what they had to.
  4. https://www.foxnews.com/us/texas-church-shooting-texas-injured-active Today. Over in 6 seconds. Texas church shooting: Gunman kills 2, 'heroic' parishioners take down shooter A gunman opened fire in a Texas church on Sunday, killing two people and injuring others before two "heroic" parishioners shot and killed him at the scene, police said. The shooting unfolded around 10 a.m. at the West Freeway Church of Christ, in the city of White Settlement, just outside Fort Worth, police said. "It's all very tragic," Fort Worth Fire Department spokesman Mike Drivdahl told reporters. White Settlement Police Chief J.P. Bevering told reporters Sunday afternoon that the gunman entered the church and sat down with the parishioners. He then got up, pulled out a shotgun, and shot two parishioners who died at a nearby hospital. Two armed parishioners who were volunteer security guards returned fire and killed the gunman. "The suspect was stopped thanks to the quick and heroic actions of those safety members inside the church," Bevering said. Separately, two people who suffered minor injuries were treated and released at the scene. During a news conference later Sunday, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick lauded the quick reactions of the church’s "well-trained" security team, calling their heroism "unparalleled." He said, "This team responded quickly and within six seconds, the shooting was over." He noted that the security team's quick response saved an "untold number of lives." The victims ranged in age from 30 to 60 years old, according to MedStar, the ambulance service provider to Fort Worth and other cities in North Texas. A witness to the shooting told KTVT the gunman walked up to a server with a shotgun during communion and opened fire before parishioners inside the church took him down. “It was the most scariest thing. You feel like your life is flashing before you," Isabel Arreola told the television station. "I was so worried about my little one." The church was apparently live streaming the service when the shooting took place, Fox 4 reported. "Unfortunately, this country has seen so many of these that we've actually gotten used to it at this point. And it's tragic and it's a terrible situation, especially during the holiday season," Jeoff Williams, a regional director with the Texas Department of Public Safety, said at the news conference. "I would like to point out that we have a couple of heroic parishioners who stopped short of just anything that you can even imagine, saved countless lives, and our hearts are going out to them and their families as well." Images from the scene showed a massive emergency response. Texas Gov. Gregg Abbott called the shooting an "evil act of violence" at the church. "Places of worship are meant to be sacred, and I am grateful for the church members who acted quickly to take down the shooter and help prevent further loss of life," the governor said in a statement. "Cecilia and I ask all Texans to join us in praying for the White Settlement community and for all those affected by this horrible tragedy." Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton tweeted about the shooting, asking for prayers for "any victims and their families, this congregation, and the law enforcement officials at the scene." Agents from the Dallas Field Division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives said they were responding to the scene of the reported shooting. Local and federal law enforcement agencies were continuing to investigate the shooter's identity and motivation for the shooting. The identities of the deceased were not released. White Settlement is located about eight miles west of Fort Worth. The Associated Press contributed to this report.
  5. I wish you looked more like him... It would be even more epic, brother...
  6. Holy shiit, this thread is fan-fucking-tastic. I love you guys like you don't even know. However... Ron... YOU, MY FRIEND, ARE MY TOURETTE'S HERO!!!
  7. That stuff right there runs dirty as hell, brother. Bet that gummed up the works from the get-go...
  8. @Cunuckgaucho asked me what's all in my chest rig, at the last Fall Shoot. I started to tell him what's in there, and said, "We'll get everything out and go over it all in awhile..." Things got so crazy, that we never ended up doing that... Well, I keep two small notebooks in there, and a good pen. One notebook is a cheap little throw-away, that I write anything and everything in. Once I confirm some information, it then gets crossed over into the Rite-In-The-Rain "permanent notebook." I got a BUNCH of data today from shooting, that needs to be crossed over to the permanent notebook now...
  9. My brothers - you gotta get on whatever frequent-flyer program @Matt.Cross is on... He either flies out here for free, or for $12 or something insane like that... Ron R2 - Not Ron Doc - you were almost here, brother. You were just up there with the grandkids, in Reno... That's WELL WITHIN Striking distance of this pile of dirt... @Robert@FULL30 - just wanted you to see this one, brother... Maybe, one day, I can rope you into coming out here for a big shoot. It's likely something you will never experience anywhere else, and it's DEFINITELY something that you will never forget...
  10. Load development, for me, was a HUGE SUCCESS today. Fucking OUTSTANDING! .224 Valk with Hornady 88gr ELD-Ms is solved. The .308 Win load with Hornady 178gr ELD-X (the expanding hunting projo), SOLVED. New powder, that I happen to have 8lbs of - gonna be used, and it's good. .224 Valk ended up at: 18" BA SPR barrel, rifle gas // Hornady 88gr ELD-M projo // 2692fps // Hodgdon CFE 223 powder, 26.2gr // CCI 41 primer // mix of Hornady and Federal brass. Fucking stellar results from it. That's the Chosen One, for my 88s in the Valk. Supersonic to 1150 yards. Hornady Max listed load for this one, in the online Erata Data, is 26.0gr of CFE 223. Hmmm... .308 Win load - this is gonna get crossed over into my Rem bolt gun, too. Mk11 Mod 0 // 18.5" Kreiger Criterion barrel from Fulton Armory, rifle gas // Hornady 178gr ELD-X projo // 2530 fps // Accurate 2495 powder, 40.6gr // CCI 200 primer // used all the NEXUS Match brass for these loads. I'll try other brass, too, but this brass was GREAT to work with. At 40.6gr, best one, it was a 5-rd group at 0.689". The group below it was 40.4gr, and came in at 0.696". I'm tempted to try 40.5gr and 40.7gr, and see what they do. Right now, I have a winner, though... This load will keep a heavy .308 Win projo supersonic to 1050 yards. Hornady Max listed load for this one, in the 10 Manual, is 40.2gr of Accurate 2495. Hmmm again... Hornady always lists their max loads a little "conservatively."
  11. We ate like Champs today... I need to get a new grill before every major outing... I'm glad you made it down, brother - what a riot. You gotta see if you can make the Spring Shoot. It'll pretty much be the same Usual Suspects you met today, plus one Matt Cross and a Canadian Wildman, and maybe even @Magwa. It's camping out there for that one, the firepit, night shoots, High Angle, all that...
  12. That things was worth it's weight on gold today, brother - I love it already. When I got up this morning, it was 32 degrees. Weird for here. We had a great time out there today, got out there around 10am, and stayed until it was time to beat the sunset outta there... @JBMatt and Tommy beat us out there, came down and went straight to the site. @MikedaddyH brought a friend from work, girl that's going in the Air Force in a couple weeks. @Merle came down... First thing I did when we got out there was unload the truck and fire up that griddle - straight to Chorizo and eggs, for breakfast burritos! Matt brought his chrono, and got a TON of load development done. I doped out all my .308 Win 178 ELD-X loads, and .224 Valk loads... Grilled up a late afternoon lunch of NY Strips and brats. Gave the little grill a good workout for it's first outing, and it did fantastic. I'll be working on the final data for all my shooting info in the next couple days. Ran the hell out of that little G43X - that thing is one hell of a shooter! Straight to a set of AmeriGlo night sights and a carry holster for that one. Overall, one hell of a great day, very mild winds if there were any winds at all. When it was blowing, it wasn't over 3mph. I'm glad that those that could make it, did. Great people and a great time.
  13. Wilson Combat 16" Ranger profile or Recon Tactical profile. Either one. That will fit your bill, right there. Fuk is going on here, with you, @ARTrooper?...
  14. What ammo, brother?
  15. Are you even serious, or are you fucking around here? Best place to get a Wilson Combat barrel? You have to be joking me, Eric.
  16. ABSOLUTELY have it checked!!! Davidson Defense only deals in Blem Parts, and nothing more. What's the Blem on that one? Is it functional, or cosmetic? Their parts are not worth the risk, for their low prices. Their low prices are because they only deal in Blem Parts.
  17. I think what was mentioned was enough, man... That barrel will do him proud, for what he wants and needs it to do - even at distance...
  18. He's in RGR Rgt right now, deploying his ass off. Interrogator. Went into the Intel Career Field like me, but the opposite side of it. He's a fucking stud. I need to get ahold of his dumb ass, and "direct" him towards a SOF Static Line Jumpmaster Course, hosted by an SF Group... Regular Army Jumpmaster course doesn't allow you to run your own Drop Zone. Just release jumpers from an aircraft. SOF Static Line Jumpmaster Course certifies you to run your own Drop Zones, up to three aircraft at once. I went through that in 1995, then started teaching it in 1999 - went through a HELL of a 5-year run on it, too. Homie needs to be able to run a Drop Zone...
  19. This just turned into something else... and I didn't realize it until @Matt.Cross called me a little while ago. This is the Christmas Shoot... JB Matt IS coming, WITH Dirt Bike Tommy, and bring another guy with them. Merle is confirmed, Mikey is confirmed, GP John is in the shithouse with the wife, but I just talked to him, and he's working his "chores list" off RIGHT NOW so he can shoot... That means "Brooks The Cop" might show up, if John is coming... The grill is going, we're cooking SOMETHING, and making a day of it, just for load development... I seasoned the grill after I got off work today - it's ready to go... WTF just happened...
  20. 16" Wilson Combat. Done. My $0.02.
  21. Once again, I've bravely posted about a shoot before it happens. I rarely do that. This one will be good. @MikedaddyH spurned this one, "Sunday after Christmas" and I jumped on it. @Merle is into this one, so he'll be down. I'm pretty sure I have @JBMatt and Dirt Bike Tommy engaged, as well. This will be "load-development day" and other sorts of chaos. I know I have .224 Valk loads to work out, and .308 Win Hornady 178gr ELD-X loads to work out. I know Mike has some Grendel loads to work out... @JBMatt has some kind of crazy hunting ammo he's brewed up, to work out... Gun Pusher John has some kind of "chore list" or something he was complaining about to me, so that means his wife is cracking down on his ass, and he probably won't be there. Maybe I need to drop by his place on Saturday night, and sweeten her up a little - maybe give him a kitchen pass... "It'll only be about 2 hours..." Another sweet part of "Merry Christmas To ME" was a Camp Chef setup for out in the dirt... so maybe we grill and cook out there on Sunday?...
  22. Done deal, brother. I love it. I'll see you saturday night...
  23. I already know that if I tell you to show up at 9am Sunday at my place, that you'll be here around 7pm Saturday night... And that's okay, too, brother - just let me know...
  24. You can ride with me - we're taking the Dodge. Hammer Fuckin Down... What time? I told JB Matt - and @Merle - somewhere between 9 and 10 at my place... You tell me what time, Mike!!!
  25. This is kinda load-development weekend, for those .308 loads I'm working up, so I don't want to waste those Juggernauts just yet, I think. Hold on for my comment to Mike below, though... No, but JB Matt is probably coming down this weekend for this, and he has load development to do, too - and said he's bringing his chrono - along with Dirt Bike Tommy... @Armed Eye Doc, I'd risk half a box to get good chrono numbers on them, though, if this flushes out the way it's looking... Could be a stellar weekend...
