Fuk me, that's a Gen 2 rail right there. All the first Gen rails went straight to the military contract, then they changed them to the Gen 2 for production. I can't zoom in on that front sight enough to tell, but I'll bet that bastard is one of the originals, too, with the elevation drum on the middle of it. I went Gen 3 on my rail, because that's what was available when I built this beast. 2011? 2012? I can't remember. It is bad, though, for a 5.56 gun. They haven't seen the need to make a Gen 4 yet - but they DO have a new carbon fiber rail with M-LOK slots in it. It's not even on the website yet... Looks just like a Gen 3, but with M-LOK slots. Badass. Here's some "original guns" that don't even go out often anymore - but the Mk12 Mod 0 is the second one down from the top - that's the Gen 3 rail and top rail. Top to bottom, the first .308AR with the Sierra Precision SPR-1 adjustable buttplate, then the Mk12 Mod 0, THE Woody, The 16" precision gun on the Spikes billet receivers, and the .45AR.

What do you have on order or in the mail? Part 2

They have one HELL of an Easter Sale going on right now - I saw that in the email today, and hit the different percentages - all the barrels are in the 50% category. $140 for a .338 Fed Wilson Combat barrel is a damn STEAL! Make sure you buy an Armalite AR-10 Carbine gas tube, that is 12 1/16" long... You'll need it... -
I am LAUGHING SO HARD RIGHT NOW... <<< My sides hurt. That took 2 minutes to type, I'm laughing so hard... Well done, though, brother - you certainly didn't fuk about with making a whole gun out of a barrel sale... 😁

1. You'll get the pants-down hug, too, so just brace yourself right now... 2. Motherfucker rear-ended me in STOPPED TRAFFIC, 3 weeks after I got it from Dirk. I've been dealing with that nightmare since 10 December 2018. Construction company truck, driven by their driver, and he was looking at his phone (I can't prove that, but I have pics of the cool brown leather recliner he had in the back of his "work truck" that day...). Traffic backed up 1/2 mile at a stop light - he stops 50 yards behind me... for a couple minutes, literally, he's 50 yards back, sitting there. Then, I see 2013 Toyota Tundra chrome grill and SMASH in the rearview... Shiit flew everywhere. Right rear quarter damage on the car, because the jackass swerved at the last minute, before he crushed me. He tried to yank it off the road, but failed. After we get the car fixed, we get to talk about why I can't turn my head beyond certain ranges of motion, left and right now...

Corey Taylor (Slip Knot and Stone Sour) AND Aaron Lewis (Stained, and just HIMSELF...)... This is badass.

Armalite AR-10 B Series. No longer popular?

We'll work through this, man - don't sweat it. You've got a good gun on your hands right there. -
Precision Reflex (PRI) is the original manufacturer of the handguard on the Mk12 SPR rifle program, for US SOCOM (5th Special Forces Group, in particular, is where the "idea" and concept started). It's a carbon fiber sleeve, and strong enough to crush some heads. It's not crazy-light, but it IS crazy strong for how light it is. It's a beast. If you want to see examples of it, just Google search "Mk12 Mod 0" and you'll get a TON of pics on it.

Armalite AR-10 B Series. No longer popular?

You need to put that rifle up for sale here, in our For Sale Section. It will move. Read the rules first, and abide - just so there are no issues with your post... This gun will go... https://forum.308ar.com/forum/37-for-sale-or-trade/ -
^^^ I love those sights!!!...

The baddest current rockers out there, right now. Probably ever. They're not musicians. Magicians. They turn this shiit into magic. Mad respect for what they do, and especially what they do for the military.
-
Hadn't seen that one yet... AWESOME!!!... Leo is the real deal, brother. Big time. He can turn anything into a badass rockin'-ass jam!...

Which specific LaRue rail caught your attention? There are two that are proprietary to them, and another that is available (but it's not those two).

Holy FUK! That's a Daniel Defense 12" rail on there. You can sell that gun for a pretty penny, just because of the rail that you swapped ONTO it. I kid you not. -

Those fuckers... -
Never tried that distance with something that wasn't full-auto or huge, issued/available to me, and WAY larger in caliber. Mk19 does it, as an area target, M-2 HB as an area target, and the 106mm recoilless rifle does it as an area target. Those are the only 3 things I've ever shot that far. We're gonna need ALOT of practice for 6" plates... And this thing is chambered for $8-bills...
-
Brother, I don't need temp differential to inspire me to drive out there. I'd come out every weekend, just to give Dirk a pants-down hug... With a week of notice, I can let work know that I've got plans "this coming Saturday" so I can leave Friday night right after/from work. I'd be out there by 10:30pm Friday night. The car would be my preferred method of infiltration, and it's getting the body fixed right now, so it's at the auto body shop. As soon as I jail-break it, I'm down.

I think we'll need 60" plates, brother...

I know this is a little premature, and I never do this. I'm announcing the range day/shoot day for this coming Sunday, because it's kinda special. Not announcing the results afterwards, like usual "Range Days"... Me and GP John have "received an invitation" from a farmer close to here. "Y'all can come out here and shoot all you want, I need some coyotes in return some time." That sounds like a trap to me, but whatever. Will the call come, to come out there and smoke-check coyotes at any time - and do we have to respond within a certain timeframe? I dunno, but I'm in anyway... This rancher was more than 2 miles of flat ground that we can shoot. GP John is getting the hankering for shooting 2 miles now - that the .375 CheyTac is his. So, this Sunday, we're shooting the .375 CheyTac at 1760 yards. One mile. By the end of this week, all the necessary scope-mount parts should be here, in order to make the new scope (on the way, too) make that distance. Right now, I don't even know where we need to zero that thing at - but I'll figure it out. I've planned out the preliminary dope charts for it, and it's pretty impressive. This Sunday is gonna be a hoot. It's like "Pink's All Out..." We go for it, and either come back with success - or lose our ride... Here's what I came up with for a dope chart, based on Cheyenne Tactical's load data on the cartridge: ^^^ I only plotted him out to supersonic on that, which was 2,050 yards. He got this GIANT boner for going 2 miles (3520 yards), so I ran out an additional chart to tack onto that one... His main boner has been getting all the parts to make a scope and scope mount drop 70 mils, so we can do this. This is insane. Once we cross that transonic barrier, everything with any dope chart is out the window. There are things out there that can calculate it all, but I haven't upgraded my Kestrel yet to do that. One Mile is the goal for this Sunday. TWO MILES is his goal, and it can be done, with this rifle - we just need to get the right tools to do this...
-
You gotta update the status on your 87 builds, brother. Where are those things at now? Road trip in order yet? I'm down, on a weekend the @DNP property.

I watched you when you grabbed that last beer... 😮

I''da puked. It's okay with me if he lopped the arm off below the elbow. Fuk, just apply the tourniquet above the elbow, squash the brachial artery. Done. "I'm here to help... You'll feel a slight pressure, but you won't bleed to death..." The fingernail thing - and a chainsaw. He's on his own. The only assistance I can provide is to throw up on him, if I saw it happen. Fuk that. No way. Got an issue with a bullet in some soft tissue on an extremity? I'll stuff a tampon in there, and we're good enough to transport you. I guarantee that - I carry the "heavy flow" ones for that shiit, just because. You fuckers shoot yourselves in a finger or toe out here on a Shoot, and the very best assistance I can give you is to projectile-vomit an aid bag in your direction. You figure out how to overcome the psychosomatic shock and deal with it yourself - with your other working 19 digits. I'm out on that one.

Yes, we did. I believe the Democrats were in control then, too, when that was passed and the money was taken. Hmmm...

Damn. Jodi Arias is still on my list, and always will be...

Here are the initial range results on this build, contained in this thread, linked: I've made a temporary change to the gun - the scope mount. This will benefit the gun now, as it is, and it will benefit the 25-45 Sharps gun in the long run (that the gun I stole this scope from, to run it). @Bruiser bought a Nikon 20-MOA scope mount that was not the right one for his scope, and I mentioned I'd buy it from him. We traded PMs back and forth, and I bought him the mount he needed and had it drop-shipped right to him. In exchange, he sent me the original mount he bought. Even trade, straight across. At first, I wasn't going to use the mount on this gun, but the more I thought about it - in the long run, at 25-45 needs a mount with some serious MOAs in it. Might as well put it on this Mod H now, run it this way - and when I get the permanent optic, top rail, and adjustable scope rings for the Mod H - everything just goes back on the 25-45 as it is, already leveled in the mount. Here's the scope that will ultimately go on this rifle - It's a re-release of the R-GRID that they stopped about a year ago - it's now the R-GRID 2B: https://www.primaryarms.com/slx3-5-4-14x44mm-first-focal-plane-rifle-scope-with-illuminated-r-grid-2b-reticle This is perfect for a Grendel, or a .260 Rem that won't go crazy distances (**cough cough... @ARTrooper... ) . Perfect.

Built a .308 Frankenstein, resulting in confusion
98Z5V replied to NateDoge's topic in Building a .308AR
You could use a needle file - the notch only needs to be as wide as the pin, on the end of the buffer retainer, and the notch wont have to be deep. Just a little at a time. This is the second confirmed Armalite AR-10 carbine extension that has a lip on the bottom, and needs to go in another turn, but won't. Looks like the new norm. I think I'll order one up for testing.
