I'm pretty positive that was what he meant... <lmao> Chase, your foot in the door is answering those phones. I'm just sayin'... <thumbsup>

That's what Shepp's was doing here in the desert. It wouldn't reset on it's own. I still suspect the disconnector spring. It would fire the first round, and not the second. When I checked it out, what I saw was you would pull the trigger, the disconnector wouldn't catch the hammer, and the hammer would move forward to that half-cock position. When you tried to fire the second time, you only dropped the hammer from the half-cocked position, and it didn't have the a$s to fire a primer (nothing would, from tht distance from the firing pin). The range-cure we came up with was this: You fire that rifle, and make damn sure you follow through with that trigger, and hold it to the rear. You MAKE that disconnector hang onto that hammer. It wouldn't reset when you eased up on it, so kick the trigger forward with your finger and manually reset it. Fire again, follow through. Fire again, follow through. You had to repeat that, and it fired everytime. You HAD to follow through, and manually reset it, though. My AR15 Match trigger has NOT had this problem, and it works everytime, like it should. Fark, try the follow through, and see if yours does the same thing shepp's did...

The PROFESSIONAL is what made it awesome... <lmao>

It's a handful - countersteering is mandatory. Might as well remove 1st, 2nd and 3rd from the trans. It's just a smokeshow on the stock tire. Even in 4th, lug it down then get into it - when it builds max boost around 3,800rpm, it breaks free again. Countersteer time once again, with another furious smokeshow. It should be illegal... :)) I'll grab the GoPro for the next one. <thumbsup>

Only if you're Mark Larue. I don't think you are.

I'm pretty excited about it, to tell the truth - if I don't blow up! I have 100 of them, ready to go, I just need to prep some Hornady Match brass.

Starting some R&D on what I want and what I need...

Strippers? Who said Strippers... :ugone2far: Starting with a 5.56 rifle will give you the basics for assembly, and that's a good idea. The big ones are just like the little ones, with very few exceptions, as far as assembly goes. Build the small one, follow references, and you can't go wrong. For the big one, do your research on parts compatability, and assemble with the same principles as the little one. Can't mess it up that way. Ask for parts guidance on the fat one. Lots of things don't work well together. -
Tool charges 5 bucks for that rear-oil-hole mod, shipped. However, you have to send him videos of you shooting it... <lmao>

We get along fine, until those Michigan bastards start making wiseass comments... :fawkdance:  It's those pompous canadian professional gunsmiters that are the real a$sholes, though... :))

If you can outshoot a LaRue, you are a badass... :hail:

Amazing, courageous, incredible person. Thank you for posting that, brother. <thumbsup>

Turbocharged a Polaris Slingshot. @8psi it's putting down 264hp, 265lb/ft of torque, and it weighs 1,700lbs. It's a rocketship. Can't keep the rear tire hooked up. Off-idle runs, 4th gear from 1400rpm and mash... once you get to 2,200rpm, you were over 200lb/ft. Almost finished with the 2nd one, and we're running that one out. No cutting it short. Numbers will be different. <thumbsup>

I'd like to see him install the AR-10 barrel nut on a LR308 upper receiver... <thumbsup>

15~20lb/ft is the number for 5.56 service rifles. There is no spec for .308AR rifles - not anything that would be common across all brands.

He's just a complete fucking idiot, and a troll. However, he claims he was a professional gunsmiter, and people paid him for his services. I think he's a joke. He keeps proving it more everytime he posts something idiotic. Hey Laz, you like those names? You cast that stone, moron, so now you can have some of it back, you fucking embarrassment. <thumbsup>

The .223 Rem and 5.56 NATO do have some big differences in operation, despite the outside case dimensions. Externally, cool, they're twins. Internally, the NATO cases are composed of thicker walls and base, and that reduces case capacity. You should be VERY cautious reloading these, and verify your load data. If you're thinking about loading something that's close to a maximum charge, or if it's a compressed charge, you better verify that you're not looking at .223 Rem load data, and stuffing that in a 5.56 NATO case - you WILL have one VERY hot load on your hands. Or, in your face... Chambers are different between .223 Rem and 5.56 NATO. In a nutshell, the 5.56 chamber has a longer leade - this will also contribute to increased and decreased chamber pressures, between the two chambers. Spike some hot 5.56 NATO ammo that you loaded with .223 Rem data (mistakenly) into a .223 Rem-chambered rifle, and you run the possibility of pulling that trigger ONE more time... Then, we have the .223 Wylde chamber - a hybrid match chamber that's a combination of the .223 Rem numbers and the 5.56 NATO numbers. That chamber shoots everything safely, and well. That's the reason for it's design.

I love that stuff - sitting on 2lbs of it right now, until I use it to work up some Hornady 75gr loads with it in 5.56 LC brass. <thumbsup>

^^^ Okay... Bad link...

We've had extensive conversations about this, with tons of information pinned on the topic. Bottom line is this: If you're running an old surplus rifle chambered for 7.62x51, then don't run .308 Win ammo through it, because of the supposed pressure differences (two different methods of measurement were used to come up with the max pressures). So, old surplus rifle = no .308 Win ammo. Modern rifles really don't matter. Really. In a modern rifle, it doesn't matter how the barrel is stamped. Run what you have, for ammo, be it old surplus (verify the source), or commercial off the shelf stuff in 308...

Not worth the wait, when you can pick it up from Rainier Arms, in stock.

Forgot to mention this - picked up the Primary Arms mini red dot with the fixed base, and mounted it up. When I mounted it, I confirmed (as I suspected) that you would have a very hard time running the iron sights with this mounted. It wouldn't be impossible, but you really have to focus to pick them up at the very bottom of the red dot sight window. It can be done, but it won't be quick - will have to be deliberate. Shot it last Sunday. I had some high hopes that I'd get it zero'd at 100, but that didn't happen. It took alot of elevation adjustment to bring it down, so I started at 50. I had a hard time at 50, so I moved up and started again at 25, slinged-up and shouldered. Once I got it at 25, I moved back to 50, and got it dead-on. By that time, there were 20 rounds down the pipe, and I was ready to pack that fucker up for the day. My buddy shot it - twice. He was done after two. He was really done after one, but there was no way I was letting that go... <lmao> So, with 22 rounds through it, the sight isn't dead yet. I'll keep shooting it and try to see if the recoil kills this sight. Maybe next Sunday, I'll get it dialed in at 100. <thumbsup>

And thankfully, you're close, so you can verify the Marlins before I buy them. <thumbsup> :happydrunks:

That's a very, very inaccurate statement. .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO are not the same, and there are vast pressure differences between the two, with the 5.56 NATO having the higher pressure. You run enough 5.56 through a .223 Rem chamber, and you're eventually going to have a very big problem on your hands - if you have hands left. OP, have one built, build it yourself, either way - run the Fulton Armory barrel, as he chambers his in a .308 WIn/7.62x51 Hybrid Match chamber. then, you have no doubt that you can shoot what you want, in your mind.
