.308LiteHunter
All mags were pmags. I removed the extractor and checked it. I didn't remove the ejector, but it depresses and springs back fine. BCG is an Ares Armory NIB not sure if it's M16 or AR 15. I really don't think anything is wrong with the upper. I still think it's the buffer/spring combo. Are you guys using Carbine buffers and springs for pistols?
98Z5V
Pretty sure I use an H buffer in one, and the H2 in another - but those are 5.56... Edited February 18, 2015 by 98Z5V
392heminut
I'm using the stock run of the mill carbine buffers and springs in both of the BLK pistols I have here.
survivalshop
Whats the fired brass look like . any extractor marks ? Did the BCG hold back on last shot , after problem started ?( if tested ) Was Factory ammo tested ?
.308LiteHunter
Yes, factory ammo was used from the beginning. Gemtech 187gr subs. After those weren't working I tried some reloads. The BCG didn't lock back again after the first series of 3 shots. I would fire a shot and couldn't fire another. The BCG would be half way to the chamber with a new round ,and the fired brass would be half out of the chamber but pinned in by the new round trying to load. I'll see if I can get some pics of the brass, and look for extractor marks.
NTXshooter
Everyone who has chimed in is far more knowledgeable about these systems than I am but no one has mentioned lightening the weight of the buffer. I had similar issues with mine. Sometimes it would cycle but most times not. I was advised to take a weight out of the buffer. I replaced one weight with a piece of wood dowel. Shot it at the range today and it ran great.
.308LiteHunter
There are some marks on the brass from the extractor but in comparison to the .223 brass I shot the same day the marks are not as obvious. I tried to get pictures but I don't think it will show up. These are some of the brass that were jammed up by the next round trying to load. 98Z5V
I used a rifle stock on my 300BLK, with a rifle buffer - that damn thing was TOO heavy. NEMO Arms 16" melonited barrel with carbine gas system. I ended up taking two weights out of that buffer, and inserting lightweight spacers in place. That was about the only thing would get it to lock back after the last round. What I really need to do on that rifle is open up the gas port, but I'm too lazy to take the damn thing all apart... <lmao>
MikedaddyH
One more time ! Please check the gas block alignment! Do the can of air test with an empty brass in the chamber and see if it blows out. The gas port hole could move to an eclipsed position and it will LOOK fine but will not get all of the air flow it needs. So just do the can air test ! survivalshop
I would like to think , that blowing air through the gas system would tell you something about the Volume of gas running through the system , but IMO it only will show that some air is getting through , not how much . If the Port is half way covered , you wouldn't know it from being open all the way . The only way is to take measurements of the two ports ( Gas Block & Barrel Port ), to line them up . I agree , you absolutely need to make sure there is no gas restriction . As said , I find it odd that it functioned fine the first few rounds . Something changed & the Gas system would be the first thing to make sure is working to spec's . The reason I asked if the BCG is an AR 15 or M 16, is the weight difference between the two . Using a lighter Buffer , if system is indeed short cycling , would be less expensive & less trouble , but a light weight BCG with a Pistol Gas system , to me would be the way I would assemble . I would like to see the bottom of the fired casings & a side view also ,of the cases .Looking for scratches on the side of the case . I had an XM177 ( 10 1/2 bbl . ) that came to me because it would not reliably function in full auto , I had to lightly ream the Barrel's gas Port till it functioned reliably . Its not something that's normally done , but last resort , if all else fails . This is the only AR 15/M16 Barrel I had to do this to & that's over thirty years of working on them . As said , I find it odd that it functioned fine the first few rounds . Something changed
.308LiteHunter
I'll grab a can of air later today and look up the " air can test, but I'll wait to hear from Shibi before I do anything else with the gasblock.

.308LiteHunter
Picked up this spring from NEMO. Going to try it out tomorrow. It is definitely a lighter spring than a regular carbine spring, thinner gauge metal, less coils and slightly shorter. 98Z5V
I just got my KAK receiver extension and SIG Brace today, the whole kit. Came with a standard carbine buffer and a spring that seemed lighter, too... I'll see what the differences are in that spring and regular Armalite AR15 carbine springs... .308LiteHunter
Turns out it WAS the extractor like SS said originally. I started getting jams right away, inspected the cases and could see the extractor marks were off. I switched out the BCG and it started working fine. I thought originally when I went out and function tested it, that I tried a different BCG but I hadn't, I had just tried it on a different lower. Live and learn right? I fired some factory 110gr Hornady Vmax, those suckers have some pop! Then I tried some reloads, 150 fmj and 125 Nosler. I got my red dot dialed in and the 125s were shooting great. On some reloads the bolt wouldn't seat all the way so I really need to get one of those gauges to check those. Other than that it feels good to have this bad boy operating. This was a couple groups with the 125s. Picture should be vertical. 17 gr of 4227.

.308LiteHunter
Just a quick update on my Shibi - blaster. Got out and shot some reloads this morning. Happy to say that now the extractor issue has been fixed this thing is fun, fun, fun! Here is a picture of the results. Shots were taken at 25 yards. Looks like the 110 Tac-tx are going to work with IMR 4227. :)
