wetncold
Bonehead. If you are going to protect the place stay away from it. Nobody is going to try anything with 15 people sitting and standing outside with guns. Or if he did, one driveby would probably take out the whole bunch before they could react. survivalshop
I was expecting something like this to happen . This idiot did it before & was fined for it . I don't blame people for wanting to help , but you get a lot of wannabe's involved & this is what you get , unfortunately . <dontknow>
blue109
And in general, wannabes are the types to come out and do this. This is the sort of thing we should have local militias for. Actual trained civilians that don't feel the need to play show and tell and wave at the camera. We have stereotyped ourselves out of a valuable civil resource. Malig8r
Unfortunately, I completely understand the position of the leasing company. I think that people like this get to "familiar" with their weapons & then get sloppy on the safety measures. A negligent discharge is evidence of the lack of awareness of one's weapon. planeflyer21
Do you mean Incompetence ? <dontknow> Nope. I mean like "I know what I'm doin' and don't need to learn nothing! I been huntin' since I was 5, so there's nothin' anyone could teach me," competence.

98Z5V
I think this comment is... well, it's something. ...referring to the fact that federal law prohibits military personnel from carrying firearms at the recruiting centers and other military facilities. I know of this law, and don't agree with it. I will say this, though - the morning of 9-11-01, that $hit went down right before our morning PT formation. PT was immediately cancelled, all off-post personnel sent directly home to grab all their $hit and return directly - and we shut all gates to the compound and placed armed guards at all possible entrances. If you weren't assigned there, or a family member, you were NOT getting in. Fuk everyone else - you have no business here. Move the fuk out, see-ya, bye. We locked down a fenced-in compound ON a military installation with armed motherfuckers and a metric $hit-ton of live ammo and hardened gun trucks, at all locations. We never "got fined" or had $hit said to us about it. Some higher-ranking motherfuckers were turned away, and given a phone number to call if they felt different about it. Nothing ever came of it - and apparently, it wasn't "lawful" to do that... <dontknow>
slugger43
I have not read the specifics of that law/regulation, but I did see a comment that indicates the law does have an exception in cases where military personnel may be in danger. Not sure exactly how that is worded, ain't playing attorney, could be wrong. I do hope somebody was smart enough to at least put that exception in what is otherwise dumb as hell. I had the day off for my bday. Phone woke me up. Post was locked down and It took me about an hour to get on. Got stuck on QRF and lived in the dayroom of the MP barracks for about a month until someone else rotated in. We were locked and loaded for 12 hours a day, hummers parked in the grass right out the front door. Rushing out every time someone left a TO-GO box on a bench. I think every unit had armed guys on 24s for a few months after it happened.
Malig8r
I was TDY down at Bliss doing some work/training. Was on night rotation & got woken up by a phone call from my mom who was more than a little worried. Base was locked down tighter than a frogs center of uranus. Was a real PITA for anyone that was off post to get back on...average wait time at the checkpoints was about 1 - 1.5 hours.
