kazuaki
Yeah, I've done about 10 AR-15 80% lowers and all were great. This Juggernaut 308 just wasn't... Edited August 15, 2015 by kazuaki
suzukiray
Kaz, if you have no plans yet, a bunch of us are going to Hodge Road, off the 15 on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. That is 3 weeks from today. We are planning on being there around 10 am. It is a good open shooting area if you've never been. One of the guys has a clay thrower that mounts to the trailer hitch on his truck if you have shotguns too. There wer 13 of us the last time & over 50 different noise makers between all of us. Sorry for the thread jack. Ray.
kazuaki
So, the range trip went well. I shot about 20 rounds of 147gr ammo, cleaning after every 5 rounds as a quick break-in. I then shot a bunch of Federal Gold Medal and some of the Eagle Eye that gave me issues before. I'm happy to report there were no malfunctions and no pierced primers. I think the rifle has great accuracy potential, but I need a lot of practice/training to become consistent. My best group is below. As you can see from the two sets of measurements, I had a great group going through 4 shots (0.56 MOA), then I pulled the 5th shot and it opened up to 1.07 MOA. Like I said, the rifle shows potential, but I need some work. BTW, I was shooting from a bipod with a rear bag on a wooden bench. Thanks to all for the help this far! kazuaki
So, I picked up a Black Hole Weaponry 20" barrel (polygonal rifling) during the 20% off sale they are having. I put that in and took a trip to the range today. This barrel seems to be a real shooter. Here's my best 5 shot group of the day. This was done at 100 yards with Federal Gold Medal Match 175gr factory ammo.

Hard to tell with the 80% Lowers , There are no MilSpecs on a 308AR like an AR15/16/M4 , Manufacturers make their own up sometimes & can cause all kinds of problems . We have seen a lot of it here with 100% Receivers. Your Buffer hitting the Retainer is going to break it eventually . Does your BCG when locked in the Barrel extension , push the Buffer back into the Lower Receiver Extension when closing the Upper onto the Lower Receiver ? If it doesn't its not to spec's , As said, the Buffer should not touch the Retaining Pin when in operation , with the BCG in locked breach position , the BCG can not go any more forward , so if it can't go forward any more & when closing the Upper onto the Lower , the BCG pushes the Buffer a little off the Buffer Retainer , to keep it from hitting it when the action is cycling . The only time the Buffer should touch that Retaining Pin is when you disassemble or Shotgun the Receivers , its just to retain the Buffer upon disassembly . Has this rifle had the Head Space Checked ? My exact thought too. Bet it's short.
