Magwa Posted October 22, 2015 Report Posted October 22, 2015 Sometimes in life it just smacks you in the face how small and insignificant we really are I had a moment like that this summer while fighting fires at night on a back burn this picture is NOT me but it is almost the exact same scenario as I was in a fire uphill in a horse shoe canyon burning down hill at me ... makes you realize what is really important .....

My moment came in a,gale on Lake Superior I had no business being out in, with no help within 40 miles. I realized I was a very small piece in a very large storm. Ever see the movie "A perfect storm?"That now affects me worse than any horror show, and always will. Yeah I think I know what you are talking about.
Magwa Posted October 23, 2015 Author Report Posted October 23, 2015 Yep you do understand it is hard to put into words, maybe we only have these moments later in life after we really know a little something,...lol but yes you do see that we are a small part of the whole yet when we band together we are a force to be reckoned with and yet that force is just a grain of sand ... it was not the fire I feared it was the magnificence of it .

planeflyer21 Posted October 25, 2015 Report Posted October 25, 2015 Mine was in the middle of the Atlantic, in a storm, with a fire raging in main machinery room 4. Thinking about bouncing around like a cork in the dark makes one feel small.
