planeflyer21 Posted January 27, 2016 Report Posted January 27, 2016 It is probably a helicopter and trying to tear itself apart.Fast forward to the 5:30 mark for the event:

MikedaddyH Posted January 27, 2016 Report Posted January 27, 2016 or when the guy "readied" the fire extinguisher or when he didn't use a torque wrench at the beginning !
beantown Posted January 28, 2016 Report Posted January 28, 2016 His ground crew sucked. Nice way to kill a Schweitzer. They had some nice toys in the hanger!
planeflyer21 Posted January 28, 2016 Author Report Posted January 28, 2016 Those Schweitzers started out as the Hughes 269, training tens of thousands of Army pilots. Nothing wrong with them.Other than the wings are moving.
mrmackc Posted January 28, 2016 Report Posted January 28, 2016 ....and the propeller is mounted on the tail and blows air sideways.....and it costs as much for an overhaul as a 4 bedroom three bath brick house
planeflyer21 Posted January 28, 2016 Author Report Posted January 28, 2016 ....and the propeller is mounted on the tail and blows air sideways.....and it costs as much for an overhaul as a 4 bedroom three bath brick houseOh yeah. Helicopter costs are roughly 3 times that of an equivalent airplane. For parts and maintanence. Figure in that when used for commercial purposes that helos require inspection every 25 hours of operation (versus every 100 hours of operation for a commercially operated airplane), the prices really start stacking up.
EngrBob Posted January 28, 2016 Report Posted January 28, 2016 What about the idiot walking in under the moving rotor given what had just happened?!?
